The DX Engineering MBVE-2 is a 33 foot, high performance 80 thru 10 meter vertical multi-band antenna that is tunable to operate with an SWR of 1.5:1 or less. The fast taper antenna element provides the lowest wind resistance.   Designed with 6063 corrosion-resistant drawn aluminum tubing and stainless steel hardware, this antenna is very durable, attractive, and is an optimized height of only 33 feet!

The massive fiberglass channel insulator supporting the rugged structural grade type 6063-T832 drawn aluminum antenna radiator has over twice the tensile and flexural strength of competitive nylon materials, and is superior for its RF handling characteristics.  Never use nylon insulators around RF!

Rugged aluminum alloy 6063 is most commonly used for seamless structural tube and pipe. It is popular in structural use for both its high strength and great, long lasting appearance. Alloy 6063 provides great resistance to general corrosion, including resistance to stress-corrosion cracking.

With excellent surface appearance, 6063 is the best alloy for high strength, long lasting antenna applications.

Of course, another key to performance is a good ground radial system. 32 radials, 30 feet long are recommended. Fewer radials will work, but with diminished results.

The MBVE-2 80 thru 10 meter vertical antenna includes the antenna element, mounting plates, Tilt Base, stainless steel hardware and clamps.

The use of a customer supplied, high quality, outboard tuner is required for any multi-band trapless vertical antenna system.  The tuner should be capable of tuning the wide range of impedances presented by the antenna and coaxial cable at all the operating frequencies.

Tuning is accomplished by using a special DX Engineering 4:1 DXE-UN-43 UNUN with coax feed and your in-shack wide-range tuner - or by installing a DXE-MBV-ATU-1 automatic tuner at the base of the antenna.

When the tuner is located in your shack and coaxial cable is used to feed the antenna, the special UNUN is required to force equal current to both the vertical radiator and the radial ground system, and allow your tuner to properly adjust the impedance.
Tuners of this type generally have a good quality variable roller inductor and at least one large variable capacitor for fine tuning.

The DXE-MBV-ATU-1 is the perfect solution for the modest power (200 watts maximum) DXer who wants maximum performance on a 33 foot tall multi-band vertical antenna!  Now you can hear and work the weak ones! Just install on your antenna mount and start operating.  NO MANUAL TUNING!

Tuners which are built into transceivers lack sufficient impedance tuning range for this type of high performance vertical antenna system.

The actual impedance of the multiband antenna is affected by local conditions, including proximity to structures, other antennas, the number of radials, or personal preference for mounting location.  It may be necessary to adjust the top element section slightly longer or shorter if tuning to best SWR is not achieved with your tuner on all bands.

The performance of this versatile, rugged antenna is highly dependent on the ability of your tuner to deliver a low SWR when tuned. Refer to your tuner user's manual for correct tuner operation.
