See some STRAIGHT TALK under "Tech Info" above! Compare to the Zero Five 43 foot special deal. The 43 foot antenna/radial plate package includes: DXE-MBVE-1 43 foot 160m-10m premium multiband vertical with All Stainless Steel tilt base mount DXE-RADP-1P All Stainless Steel Radial Plate with 20 sets of stainless steel radial hardware plus 40 sets more - a total of 60 sets - won't dissolve in the ground like aluminum. DXE-SSVC-2P Stainless Steel V-saddle clamp - not a muffler clamp! For a special package with a High Power 5 kW UNUN and mounting kit instead of the Radial Plate, see model DXE-MBVE-1-4UP. The DX Engineering MBVE-1 is a 43 foot, high performance 160 thru 10 meter vertical multi-band antenna that is tunable to operate with an SWR of 1.5:1 or less. Tuning is accomplished by using an optional DX Engineering 4:1 current Balun with coax feed and your in-shack wide-range tuner - or by installing an automatic tuner at the base of the antenna. A 200 watt plug and play package including an antenna-mounted automatic tuner is now available by ordering DXE-MBVE-1-3ATP.
The massive fiberglass channel insulator supporting the rugged structural grade type 6063-T832 drawn aluminum antenna radiator has over twice the tensile and flexural strength of competive nylon materials, and is superior for its RF handling characteristics. Never use nylon insulators around RF!
Free-standing to 90 mph wind speeds, the antenna is complete with the DX Engineering Heavy Duty Tilt Basewhich enables operators to raise or lower the antenna in seconds while leaving the base securely attached to the mounting post. With the Tilt Base, one person can service an antenna—no more climbing ladders, or removing a bracket from the support post.
Also inlcuded is the patented DXE-RADP-1P Radial Plate, which offers many installation and performance advantages over other radial plates!
First, the DX Engineering Radial Plate will attach easily and rigidly to a 4x4 or 6x6 wooden post using simple wood screws, a steel or aluminum pipe,(up to 2.0 in. outside diameter) using one of our saddle clamps, a fence post or whatever you have supporting your vertical.
Second, this plate actually has a place where you can attach your coax! What a concept! The plate assembly has been drilled for the readily available, optional SO-239 Chassis Mount and Bulkhead Fittings. This is a MUST item for proper handling of RF ground current!
Third, the DX Engineering Radial Plate is laser cut from tough stainless steel so that it has smooth edges, won’t corrode and will always look good. You will be proud of how good your installation looks. There are similar plates available made of aluminum which will dissolve in the soil - especially salty soil. Our Stainless Steel plate will look the same - after being buried for 20 years - as it did when you first took it out of the package.
While 20 sets of hardware are supplied with the plate, we add 40 more to give you enough Stainless Steel bolts, nuts, star washers, flat washers and lock washers to attach up to 60 radials for top performance. Also supplied is the DXE-CAVS-2P V-saddle clamp to allow connecting the radial plate to the antenna mounting pipe up to 2" OD.

WHAT DOES “BETTER” MEAN? MORE EXPENSIVE? WE DON’T THINK SO!
We at DX Engineering make great use of superior quality Stainless Steel in the design and construction of our antenna and antenna accessory products. Regardless of the thickness of aluminum structural materials, rapid onset of corrosion erodes and weakens the aluminum material to the eventual point of disintegration.
Our Stainless Steel mounting brackets and radial plates are laser-cut by the latest state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. We are much more than a machine shop or an aluminum packaging assembly line.
All DX Engineering antennas are designed and optimized on our test range, and don’t become products until approved by our Chief Engineer. We don’t rely on anecdotal “Gotham Vertical” advertising stories about the signal reports others give you. We know how our antennas work and why. Our Technical Service staff is available to answer your questions, and to help you maximize performance from your installation with accurate, common sense solutions. For example - if you mounted your antenna on a hillside, why would you want to tilt it toward the downslope side?
What you always get from DX Engineering is 100% premium quality products and support - never shortcuts or budget line cheapened versions to compete with our correct, lower prices. Why pay more? Straight talk - not hearsay stories!
Our massive fiberglass channel base insulator has over twice the tensile and flexural strength of competitive nylon materials, and is superior for its RF handling characteristics. This insulator design has been proven for years - it was the design chosen for the harsh Antarctic environment by the team at 3Y0X Peter I Island in 2006. Years of use in the Australian interior and arid southwest US further attest to its reliability.
Many of you have experienced antenna insulator failures due to the inferior characteristics of nylon in the presence of RF. Nylon was discarded as an RF insulator by the antenna industry years ago. Costly, inferior materials and design do not justify higher prices.
Unwarranted cost does not make a “better” antenna. Why pay for it?
