DX Engineering 80VA-3 Monoband THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas are high performance vertical antenna systems that are tunable to operate over segments of the 80 and 75 meter band with an SWR of 1.5:1 or less, yet is only 43 feet tall! These antennas feature a properly designed capacity hat, which forces radiation current to be maximized over the entire height of the vertical. This allows the antenna to be shorter without giving up efficiency or radiating performance. With this antenna, you get full-size 80 meter performance in an antenna only 43 feet tall.

Ruggedly built, it tapers slowly from a sturdy 2.125 inch OD base section to a 1.50 inch top section. The base section is secured to a unique heavy duty insulated channel with DX Engineering's heavy duty stainless steel U-Bolt Saddle Clamps. The massive EXTREN® channel insulator supporting the rugged structural grade type 6063-T832 drawn aluminum antenna radiator has over twice the tensile and flexural strength of competitive nylon materials, and is superior for its RF handling characteristics.

Rugged aluminum alloy 6063 is most commonly used for seamless structural tube and pipe. It is popular in structural use for both its high strength and great, long lasting appearance. Alloy 6063 provides great resistance to general corrosion, including resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. With excellent surface appearance, 6063 is the best alloy for high strength, long lasting antenna applications.

DX Engineering 80VA-3 Monoband THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas include the antenna element tubing, capacity top hat, mounting plates, Tilt Base, stainless steel hardware and clamps.

Of course, another key to performance is a good ground radial system. 32 radials, 65 feet long are recommended. Fewer radials will work, but with diminishing results. See the suggested parts for your high performance antenna system installation.
