MFJ-949E Deluxe Versa Tuner II Antenna Tuners are 300 watt RF output power antenna tuners that will match any transmitter or transceiver to virtually any antenna.

Peak or average forward and reflected power and SWR can be read on the illuminated cross-needle meter. The wattmeter has an internal lamp that backlights the meter; however the lamp circuit requires power from an external nominal 12 V DC source. The rear panel jack accepts a 2.5 mm coaxial plug with a positive center pin polarity.

MFJ 949E Deluxe Versa Tuner II Tuners use a "T" matching network and cover all bands between 160 and 10 meters. This network will tune dipoles, inverted Vs, verticals, mobile whips, beams, random wires, and many other antennas.

MFJ 949E tuners have rear panel connectors for coaxial, single wire or two wire feedlines. A built-in 4:1 balun allows the use of balanced open wire, twin-lead, or twin-axial feedlines. An internal eight position antenna-selector switch selects a built-in 50 ohm dummy load, two separate coaxial line outputs, or a single wire line-balanced line output. All of these functions can be selected in tuned (with tuner's "T" network in line) or bypassed (no tuning circuit) configurations.

Features include:

* Full 1.8-30Mhz operation
* External DC power required for Wattmeter Peak Reading function
* 1,000 Volt tuning capacitors
* Full size 3 in. lighted cross needle meter
* Built in non-inductive 50 ohm dummy load

Manual antenna tuners are a good value. They can raise your station's efficiency without breaking the bank. Order MFJ 949E Deluxe Versa Tuner II Antenna Tuners from DX Engineering!

Excellent on my 3 element 4 band directional Yagi. Tunes all bands at least 40 meters thru 6 meters on my Cushcraft Yagi ..out tuning other tuners. For the money just my opinion a excellent buy if you working 300 watts or less. I have used this tuner CW/USB/LSB/FT8 modes.

MFJ-949E
After once having a MFJ-941E and having a good run with it, I decided to buy the 949E model. I find the MFJ-949E to be a very useful tuner. It tunes almost anything, has a 4:1 balun, a 50ohm dummy load and antenna switch built in with multiple selections, which is very handy. The SWR/Power meter is a good size and easy to read, much lager then the 941E. It looks and feels well made, and everything is quite nicely laid out.

MFJ 949E Tuner

MFJ-949E
This tuner is easy to use and can terminate two coaxial cables plus either a long-wire or balanced wire transmission cable. It also contains an internal 300W dummy load. Everything is accessible via by-pass directly to the transmission cable or through the tuning circuitry. It is advertised as being able to tune into "practically anything," a claim that is mostly true. I especially like the dual forward/reflected power meter which also gives the Standing Wave Ratio. An improvement I could recommend is replacing the 12v meter light with a 110v version with power cable. Handy for mobile operations, I suppose, but not so much in the shack. All-in-all a pretty good tuner.
