Overview
bhi DSP Devices
NEDSP900 Dual Channel Audio Noise Suppression PCB Modules are capable of handling a wide range of audio inputs. They provide up to 40dB of noise suppression! These modules operate on a single power supply and employ on‐board voltage regulation and a clock oscillator. It has low power consumption which makes it suitable for portable applications.
Noise suppression is carried out by utilizing a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) device that runs special software containing a Noise-Suppression algorithm. This is patented bhi technology for noise reduction in speech signals. It is one of the best algorithms of its kind and is ideally suited for real‐time processing in any kind of voice communication system in noisy environments. These include hands-free telephone sets, industrial intercom systems and radio communication systems; including Amateur Radio.
These modules use a multi‐layer PCB that provides good signal isolation and grounding, making integration into communication systems easy with a minimum of design effort. A few simple rules need to be observed in order to preserve the achievable levels of noise suppression; these are dealt with in the datasheet/user manual.
There are several ways in which the device can be controlled. The module has been designed such that it may be used with purely passive control elements such as switches and solder pads or by using logic control via a microprocessor.
Channel 1 is recommended for microphone signals as this channel has up to 30dB of selectable gain and a unique AGC control. Channel 2 has gain limited to +18dB. This makes the module useful for many applications that involve processing either stereo audio signals or two different audio signals such as microphone signal in one direction and a receiver audio signal (as might be found in a communication or intercom system) in the other.
Applications include:
* Noise Cancelling Microphones
* Noise Suppression for radio voice communications
* Noise Cancelling in voice recognition to improve accuracy rates
* Intercoms
NEDSP900 features:
*Dual channel configurable Noise Suppression
*Up to 30 dB maximum gain configurable input amplifiers
*Low power consumption (typically less than 5mA)
*Wide supply voltage range (3 to 20V)
*Input and output RF protected with LC low pass filter
*Up to 40dB noise suppression
*Audio bandwidth 300 Hz to 5 KHz
Professionals and Radio Amateurs will find that these modules may be useful in many, many applications.
NOTE: Installation of these modules should only be attempted by a qualified technician or person with the appropriate advanced skills.
