Heil Sound Microphones

The Fin® was introduced just a few years ago, by Heil Sound, with their take on a classic, art deco style Turner microphone from long ago. The Fin® microphones are updated with a great, wide-range Heil dynamic element exhibiting a remarkable, natural, clear sound designed especially for live sound, recording and broadcast applications.

Their exceptional performance is achieved by the use of a special magnet structure with a large 1-1/8 in. aluminum low mass voice coil assembly similar to the Heil PR 20. They feature a frequency response of 60 Hz – 18 kHz with the traditional Heil Sound mid-range 'bouquet' at 4 kHz, which provides incredible brilliance and audio presence. The Fin® mics also exhibit a tight, linear cardioid pattern.

The Fin® microphones feature a special, deep 'show chrome' or gloss black finish on their copper plated steel bodies. An internal foam windscreen, inside the grill, covers their large diameter Heil dynamic microphone element mounted in a specially tooled shock mount.

The fun part of The Fin® microphones is their very cool glow. Four red, blue or white LEDs, mounted inside of the FIN® models, shine right through their windscreens. These LEDs are illuminated ONLY when the microphone’s balanced 3- pin XLR is connected to professional mixing console that supplies a positive 48 volts DC phantom voltage, even though the element is dynamic, not electret. Microphone mount threads are standard 5/8 - 27, allowing these very special mics to be mounted directly onto booms, desk or floor stands.

As seen recently on television’s ‘Saturday Night Live’, in the feature motion picture ‘The Hunger Games’ and in other stage and film productions, The Fin® microphones are terrific for vocals, instrument amplifiers, harmonica and speech, as well as for broadcasting and Amateur Radio. The Fin® has really put the fun back into performing with a stylized dynamic microphone!
