Overview
Davis Instruments UV Radiaton Sensors
Davis Instruments UV radiation sensors measure the portion of the UV spectrum to which human skin is sensitive and is known to cause sunburns. These sensors allow you to display the UV index, dose rate, and daily and accumulated doses.
A special multi-layer filter provides a UV spectral response that closely matches the Erythema Action Spectrum. An included diffuser provides excellent cosine response, resulting in higher accuracy regardless of the solar angle.
Their 2-piece housing minimizes radiation heating, allows for convection cooling of the sensor, and prevents the trapping of water or dust. These sensors include 2 ft. (0.6 m) of cable for mounting to the ISS. To mount one of these UV sensors next to a rain collector, add the Sensor Mounting Shelf (not included).
If you or a loved one is sensitive to UV due to nature or prescriptions, or perhaps are a skin-cancer patient, then one of these Davis UV Radiation Sensors, coupled with a Vantage Pro2 weather station, could provide greater value than you might imagine.
