Known as the “Olympics” of Amateur Radio, the World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) is set to take place in historic Lutherstadt, Wittenberg, Germany from July 12-16. Held every four years in a different location since the inaugural event 28 years ago in Seattle, the WRTC brings together top contesters from around the globe to compete under the same conditions using the same antenna setup. The 2018 WRTC competition begins Saturday, July 14 at 1200 UTC and ends Sunday, July 15 at 1200 UTC which coincides with the IARU HF Championship.While the two-person teams furiously work to log QSOs and score as many points as possible in 24 hours, operators can participate from their homes by contacting the special stations in Germany, creating huge pileups for the contesters to work. WRTC offers unique awards and prizes to operators who get on the air, contact the WRTC stations on CW and SSB (80 through 10 meters), and submit their log within six hours of the contest end (by 1800 UTC Sunday). More details are available; check out WRTC 2018’s website here.Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced contester, DX Engineering wants you to be part of the fun and excitement of this quadrennial Amateur Radio competition.
