Overview
DX Engineering Low Power Balun Center Insulators
DX Engineering Low Power Balun Center Insulators are designed to make your portable HF operations a breeze. These compact units combine a high-performance 1:1 balun, a center insulator and a BNC female connector, making them perfect for building single-band or multi-band linked dipoles.
Key Features and Benefits:
Integrated Balun and Center Insulator: A unique design that saves space and simplifies your antenna setup.
Ready for Portable Operations: With a pre-installed downward pointing BNC female connector, it's easy to connect to your portable gear.
Superior RF Choking: The coax-wound toroid offers exceptional common mode impedance (CMI) across 1.8 to 54 MHz, especially from 40 through 6 meters, significantly outperforming other products that rely on just a few beads on coax.
Power Handling: Operate with up to 250 watts PEP SSB or 100 watts CW and digital modes (across a frequency range with a 2:1 SWR or less).
Lightweight and Compact: Its unique design, with clear heat shrink over the balun, makes it light enough for any portable HF antenna feedpoint.
Optimized for Inverted Vee Dipoles: These baluns are specifically designed for center-supported inverted vee dipoles and work great with DX Engineering Nomad Portable Telescopic Masts (sold separately).
Versatile Use: Ideal for amateur radio activities like POTA (Parks on the Air), SOTA (Summits on the Air), and JOTA (Jamboree on the Air), whether you're building a monoband or link-clip multi-band resonant wire antenna.
Part of a Complete System: These baluns are the core component of DX Engineering Low Power Portable Dipole and Winder Kits.
Easy Connection: The BNC feedpoint connects easily with DX Engineering's super-thin DXE-174VDB or DXE-8XVDXB Hi-Visibility Orange Coaxial Adapter Cable Assemblies (available in various lengths).
Improved Performance: This balun can help prevent RFI (Radio Frequency Interference), stop stray RF and noise from affecting your receiver, and ultimately improve your antenna system's efficiency.
The DXE-LPB1-B does not include hardware and is intended to have the antenna wire soldered to the PCB. Antenna wire can be woven through available holes which are large enough for up to 14 AWG insulated wire.
Please Note: The clear heat shrink material and PCB balun center insulator are not intended for permanent outdoor use unless they are mounted inside a weatherproof enclosure.
For any station, including POTA and SOTA, use DX Engineering LPB-B Low Power Balun Center Insulators to build center-supported HF Inverted Vee Dipoles.
