However, most PL-259 crimped center pins aren't long enough and some don't even have enough crimped contact area, which affects reliability. DX Engineering has solved those issues with these custom-designed connectors that we introduced on new DX Engineering 8XDX Series Coaxial Cable Assemblies. These PL-259s have soldered center pins that are full length and full diameter, so they connect properly, even with worn SO-239s.

I am confused on the cable prep, do you crimp over the insulation or do you remove the insulation and crimp the braid? It would be helpful to have a procedure inculded with connectors or have documation section on products the customer could pull up and have the necessary information.

Superior connectors for 8X

After having trouble maintaining a good connection with older style connectors, I've found that these are superior in ever way. The Documentation Tab provided me with the guides I needed to install and crimp the connectors properly, over the braid, and then solder the center conductor. The guides indicated specific measurements, which I was able to achieve down to the thousands of an inch using my digital calipers. All the pieces went together perfectly, leaving a quality connection with a professional appearance.
