Overview
DX Engineering Receive Four Square V3 Array Systems
DX Engineering Receive Four Square V3 Array Systems dramatically improve reception of weak, distant MW and SW signals with excellent rejection of extraneous signals and noise. This four-direction switchable phased array covers multiple HF Amateur bands, such as 160, 80 and 40 meters, by using time delay phasing of four physically short active receive vertical elements. The resulting directional receiving pattern has deep back and side nulls that are superior to Beverage antennas and other receive arrays. The DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array is less susceptible to high angle signals than EWE, Flag, Pennant, K9AY and SAL antennas. Short vertical element receive arrays limit interfering signals and noise for dramatically superior weak signal reception, as compared to full size transmitting antennas and arrays. With the appropriate location and spacing of the four stealthy 8.5 ft. (2.6m) vertical elements, the Receive Four Square V3 Array System is a high performance, directional receive antenna for HF Amateur, SWL, or AM DXing.
Advantages of the DXE-R4S-SYS-V3 Receive Four Square V3 Antenna System over other receiving arrays include:
Directivity over a very wide frequency range with four DXE-RSEAV-1 Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas, featuring updated DXE-AVA-3 Active Matching Units
Reduced susceptibility to high angle signals compared to EWE, Flag, Pennant, and K9AY antennas
Excellent directivity in a small space for better signal-to-noise ratio
Switching of array pattern to four 90 degree spaced directions
Requires less space than a Beverage antenna. Active elements need only a ground rod
Easier to deploy and maintain than a four direction Beverage antenna system
Using active elements, system allows close proximity to transmit antennas using transmit/receive sequencer
Enhanced relay contact reliability
Low current DC powered control console allows system operation without AC power mains
In typical soils, each of the four DXE-RSEAV-1 Active Elements work well with just a single copper or copper-clad ground rod, 4 to 6’ length by 5/8” or 3/4" OD, used as the ground mount. A separate mounting pipe can be used with optional clamps as the element ground if the pipe is an adequate ground. In lower soil conductivity areas, improve performance with multiple ground rods spaced a few feet apart. In rocky or sandy soils eight ground radials, each 12 to 15 feet can serve in the place of the ground rod. It is very important for each active antenna in the array to have an identical ground system.
Build this exceptionally effective, electronically rotatable, stationary receive antenna that lets you hear the DX signals that cannot be heard on a transmit antenna. Dig the weak signals out of the noise with an antenna that can help make your station one of the best. Order and install the DX Engineering Receive Four Square V3 Array System.
