Overview
DX Engineering RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers
DX Engineering RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers are the best low-noise receiver preamps available… period.
RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers are optimized for the 300 kHz through 35 MHz frequency range. They were exclusively researched and developed with an advanced push-pull amplifier design that eliminates harmonic distortion; a common problem in many other preamplifiers. A high quiescent current increases the RPA-1 preamp's ability to handle strong signals without distortion or overload.
Meticulous craftsmanship and durable, robust components enable these preamplifiers to withstand high signal levels, providing superior dynamic range and third-order intercept performance that actually makes RPA-1 preamplifiers better than most receiver and transceiver front-ends.
With DX Engineering Receive Preamplifiers, you can be ensured of the best possible results for your HF, Low Band, AM DXing and SWL operational needs. You will be able to pull in the weakest signals and snag that rare one, under the most difficult conditions, right when you need it the most.
These units are not designed to be connected to a transmitting RF feedline. DX Engineering RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers use RCA-type phono jacks and CATV Type-F female connectors for the input and output connections, to prevent accidental connection to transmitting devices. They are intended for use on receive antenna systems or may be used with a Receive Antenna Interface RTR-1 for receiver front-end enhancement and operations with transceivers and transmitting antennas.
For operator convenience, RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers feature a built-in relay that automatically bypasses the preamplifier circuit when DC power is removed. These high performance devices must be powered with a well filtered and regulated DC power supply and will offer maximum performance at 12 to 18V DC input. Do not use a cheap wall transformer with these preamplifiers. Indoor, at the radio installation is recommended for RPA-1 preamps, since cable losses in the 300 kHz - 35 MHz frequency range do not normally require an outdoor or antenna-mounted preamplifier. However, outdoor installation with the appropriate weather protection is possible, as RPA-1 preamplifiers may be internally modified by the user to be powered through the coaxial feedline, using a DX Engineering Feedline Voltage Injector. Instructions are included in the RPA-1 manual.
DX Engineering RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers offer superior receiving results on today's crowded medium and shortwave bands as well as on the ham bands. SWLs and Radio Amateurs around the world have come to rely on the advanced operational performance of DX Engineering RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers.
