Overview
ERICO CADWELD PLUS Control Units
ERICO CADWELD PLUS Control Units are used to ignite the weld material in One-Shot PLUS exothermic welds.
When common flint igniters are used for exothermic ignition, you must be right at the mold. That makes gloves and eye protection imperative. With CADWELD PLUS Control Units you may stand well away, providing a safety margin.
CADWELD's model PLUSCU control unit comes with 8 AA batteries and will ignite about 600 One-Shot PLUS exothermic welds before battery exhaustion. These units include a 6-foot (1.8 meter) high temperature control unit lead. The lead attaches to the ignition strip using a custom made, purpose-designed termination clip.
After the termination clip is installed on the ignition strip, the installer pushes and holds the ignition button to start a charging and discharging sequence. Within a few seconds the control unit sends a predetermined voltage to the ignition strip and the exothermic reaction is initiated. Once initiated, the ignition process is automatic. These control units are not for use with CADWELD One-Shot welding. Only One-Shot PLUS is designed for electronic ignition.
Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information.
Accessory or replacement leads are available in 6 and 15 ft. lengths. When you want total control of your exothermic welding processes, use ERICO CADWELD PLUS Control Units, now available from DX Engineering!
