Heil Sound Microphones

Heil Sound PR 28 Microphones are new and very compact dynamic microphones that are made specifically for use for snare drums, toms, bongos, and other percussion instruments. However, the PR 28 is suitable for other uses as well where a wide frequency range and immaculate isolation is desired.

Heil Sound engineered PR 28 Microphones with a dual suspension dynamic element to eliminate unwanted vibrations and noise, even in the most extreme settings; like when placed above or beneath drums with close proximity monitors, bass cabinets and other sound sources. In fact, the PR 28 dutifully isolates the target drum from neighboring drums just inches away, with precision and ease. PR 28s have the ability to withstand very high SPL’s, bringing out the best for the hardest hitting drummers without overload or bleed-through. When coupled with the optional HH-1 Mount, they easily mount and remain exactly where you need it on the drum.

PR 28 Microphones have two important characteristics: a wide frequency response and very quick transient response time, so as to reproduce the quick attack and decay of the drum beats. These very characteristics make PR 28s ideal for amateur radio use. They have a low-frequency roll-off at 55 Hz and a gradual rise to +3 dB at 3,500 Hz, and for ham shack installations, their 35 dB rear rejection is particularly noteworthy. That excellent specification helps keep radio, computer and amplifier fans, and other noises from going out over the air. On the air, with modern, DSP-based rigs like the ICOM IC-7800, Yaesu FT-2000, or Kenwood TS-2000, the PR 28s have wonderfully rich-sounding audio with excellent clarity. The PR 28s also have a very articulate midrange, which makes them ideal for voice reproduction.
