Everything you love about the HEIL PR 30 dynamic cardioid (end-fire) microphone is incorporated into the PR 30B. The only difference is the PR 30B mic comes in a beautiful matte-black finish, with a red mesh end grill.

Heil Sound PR 30B Microphones are so well designed and versatile, that they are among the best microphones available for commercial broadcasting and studio recording as well as for live sound reinforcement applications. Delivering a smooth flat response over a wide frequency response, PR 30Bs are often compared to high priced ribbon microphones for their wide frequency response and immaculate sound quality. However, these advanced dynamic microphones are able to withstand live sound pressure levels that would decimate ribbon microphones and overload electret condenser microphones. PR 30B Microphones achieve their exceptional performance by using a special magnet structure and an extra-large 1-1/2 in. low mass aluminum voice coil assembly. A carefully wound and placed hum bucking coil allows PR 30s to be used close to video monitors without unwanted hum or buzz.

PR 30B Microphones feature a great cardioid pattern with excellent rejection of unwanted audio from directly behind these end-fire microphones. Special attention has been paid to the phasing plug assembly with equally placed ports that sense audio from behind the source. It then enters them out of phase thus producing a very linear cardioid pattern. Similar to modern stage microphones, the top or red end of PR 30Bs is the “front” for peak audio, not the side as in some studio mics, and there is virtually no off-axis coloration, meaning you won’t get odd sounds from the back like you do with some of the poorly designed, imitation “studio” condenser microphones.

PR 30B Microphones are ready to plug in and use, because Heil Sound has developed better ‘pop’ protection for them, which virtually eliminates popping and sibilance during up-close vocals. While other microphones have just a single metal screen, making it necessary to use external pop filters, Heil PR 30Bs use two screens. Their inner screen has smaller openings while the outer one, that you see, has larger openings. This breaks up the breath blasts and diverts them from hitting the microphone diaphragm directly. Very coarse, acoustically transparent foam is also mounted on top of the element.

PR 30B Microphones are supplied with an adjustable cast metal microphone holder that mounts onto any 5/8 - 27 threaded stand or boom. Optional PRSM-B Shock Mounts are perfect for these mics.
