ICOM IC-7100 HF/VHF/UHF Base/Mobile Transceivers

If you haven't yet heard of the ICOM IC-7100 HF/VHF/UHF Base/Mobile Transceivers, then we can tell you that ICOM is at it again! IC-7100 transceivers introduce another amateur radio first. The radio control head features a large, multi-function, "touch screen" Dot-Matrix LCD display! This is an important feature because the controller's display not only provides information, but is also your control portal to the IC-7100's feature settings and menus.

Breaking the basic rule that a radio faceplate must be vertically flat, the IC-7100's control head is sloped for the optimal viewing angle for the LCD display! The large touch screen also provides ample spacing for big fingers! ICOM even allowed plenty of room to have a large internal speaker, along with a jack for a CW key, a headphones/speaker jack, a microphone jack, and a control cable connection.

IC-7100 base/mobile transceivers provide D-STAR (Digital Smart Technology for Amateur Radio) and DV (Digital Voice) mode and low speed data communication on the 2 meter and 70 centimeter bands. The D-STAR DV mode has loads of advantages over the analog FM mode: Digitally modulated clear voice; 950 bps of simultaneous data transfer; D-STAR individual calling using YOUR call sign, and access to the worldwide D-STAR repeater network linked via the Internet, just to name a few.

The latest 32-bit floating point DSP (Digital Signal Processing) supports many digital processing features, such as a digital IF filter, twin PBT (Pass-Band Tuning), and manual notch filters. Of course, those high-grade digital processing features work on all ham bands from HF through the 70cm band.
