MFJ 969 antenna tuners AirCore Roller Inductor, gear driven turns counter and spinner knob gives you exact inductance control for absolute minimum SWR. MFJ's exclusive AirCore Roller Inductor has an air core that can't burn up! You get ultra-high-Q, the lowest loss, highest efficiency and highest power handling of any roller inductor in ham radio.

MFJ's exclusive self-resonance killer keeps potentially damaging self-resonances away from your frequency. A huge self-cleaning wiping contact gives you an excellent low-resistance connection without contact arcing or burning. They feature a solid 1/4 in. brass shaft, self-align bearings for smooth non-binding operation.

MFJ 969 antenna tuners cover all frequencies from 160 meters thru 6 meters, including the "magic band", the widest matching range of any full featured antenna tuner. Match dipoles, verticals, inverted Vs, random wires, beams, mobile whips, SWL receiving antennas, almost any antenna you can think of. You can use coax cable, random wire or balanced lines.

MFJ's new ActivePeak reading Circuit accurately reads true peak forward power, also an MFJ exclusive. MFJ's 8 position antenna switch lets you select two coax fed antennas, random wire/balanced line or the built-in dummy load for use through your MFJ 969 or direct to your rig.

MFJ's QRM free PreTune lets you pre-tune the MFJ 969 off the air into the built in dummy load without causing QRM. Pre-tuning into a dummy load makes tuning your actual antenna quick and easy!

Well.... it does work.

It tunes up fine on my longwire and my Alpha Delta DX-CC. All the WARC bands tune up including 160 meters. I have a short run of LMR-400 so that I can keep losses to a lower level. The rotorary knob for the inductor is a little rough and you may have to have your other hand on the box to steady it. I also have doubts about the power rating of the balanced feed-line balun. But I cant prove that at the moment.

Seem to work quite well, probably better then my old MFJ-949E which I gave my grandson. Roller is a little stiff turning but acceptable. I removed the cover to look at the workmanship, that too is OK. I think the knobs for Transmitter and Antenna could be a little closer to the front face to see the position with better accuracy. It is a keeper. de WA6PHR

This is a great tuner, I am using it with a Yaesu FT-450D and a homemade Fan Dipole antenna cut for 40 and 20. With this tuner I am able to get SWR's across the full bands as follows: 80M 1.5 to 2 40M 1 to 1.5 20M 1 17M 1 15M 1 12M 1 10M 1 06M 1 to 1.5

NICE FOR THE PRICE!

I needed a tuner to go with my Icom 706mk2g, specifically the auto tuners i had wouldnt do 6 meters and manual tuners allow for more flexibility that autotuners dont. My rating is also based on its price point, covering 6 to 160 while on a budget, the roller inductor is not as smooth as i would like but i knew that from another review, but the thing works as it should and the meter is big enough to read easily. Overall i would recommend this unit to a friend. Tom kd8wcd
