VA6AM Engineering HF Band-Pass Filters

VA6AM Engineering HF Band-Pass Filters are very high-quality multi-stage inline passive electronic devices designed to specifically limit the transmitting and receiving RF passband to a single Amateur band. They provide the clear benefit of a dramatically lower noise floor for enhanced single-band weak signal reception that is desired by DXers, elite contesting stations and Field Day operations. Used individually on mono-band radio and antenna combinations, these filters provide the isolation required, eliminating image and harmonic RF interference issues for dedicated mono-band operations in multi-radio contesting environments. Required for use with transmit multiplexers, these filters provide the additional isolation needed to allow multiple transceivers to be operated on different bands simultaneously on the same antenna. VA6AM Engineering HF Band-Pass Filters are Third Order Cauer type (elliptical) filters for the 80-, 40-, 20- and 15-meter bands for better adjacent band suppression, and Third Order Chebyshev type for 160 and 10 meters for better 20-meter suppression. Built into durable aluminum enclosures and supplied with standard UHF Female/SO-239 connectors, these HF Transmit Band Pass Filters achieve over 60dB of out-of-band suppression that virtually eliminates out of band noise and interfering signals. They feature a typical insertion loss of less than 0.25dB (<0.30dB 10M) and a return loss of less than 26dB, equivalent to SWR under 1.1:1. They are designed to provide a sharp roll off just outside each Amateur band; just below 3.5 MHz and just above 4.0 MHz for the 80-meter filter, for example. VA6AM Engineering HF Band-Pass Filters may be used in conjunction with VA6AM Engineering Multiplexers, available in various multi-band combinations, also available from DX Engineering. VA6AM Engineering Diplexers and Triplexers provide good levels of isolation between band ports. The multiplexer's main purpose is to provide 50-ohm SO-239 connections for multiple transceivers and balance the impedances for a single 50-ohm feedline to a multi-band antenna. However, VA6AM Engineering HF Band-Pass filters are REQUIRED for each multiplexer band input to provide the additional isolation required to allow multiple transceiver setups to function properly. In the multi-transceiver contest station, each “monoband” transceiver is connected to the appropriate band-pass filter, which is connected to the appropriate multiplex band input, which is connected to a multi-band beam, for example. Each transceiver can operate simultaneously with up to 80 dB of isolation, unhindered by the signals from the other connected radios operating on the other bands on the same antenna!
