Alpha Delta UHF Connector Coaxial Cable Surge Protectors

Alpha Delta UHF Connector Coaxial Cable Surge Protectors have SO-239 connectors and are rated for 200 or 2,000 watts at frequencies up to 500 MHz. They are not DC-blocked, so they will pass control voltages in applications requiring the coaxial cable to carry both RF and DC voltage. They may be easily mounted for the most effective grounding with a 1/4-20 bolt or stud (depending on model) in a single hole or as a bulkhead-mount through the grounding panel. In a study under the auspices of the U.S. Dept. of Energy, utilizing the satellite FORTE launched in 1997 carrying VHF lightning discharge sensors, it was determined that there can be damaging lightning energy emissions throughout the 30 through 300 MHz VHF spectrum. Before FORTE, it was thought that most lightning energy emissions were primarily in the VLF range. Therefore, the damage threat can be anywhere from VLF through VHF. Through the careful design of the Alpha Delta Arc-Plug® gas tube module and precision, constant impedance through-line allowing proper firing characteristics, these devices are designed to provide effective protection throughout this entire spectrum. Other surge protector designs may only utilize simple VLF filters with no gas tube backup. Additional features include: * Excellent broadband performance from DC through 500 MHz, compared to the narrow-band DC-blocked or stub designs. * Innovative impedance compensated through-line cavity design allows control voltages to pass through the device, instead of the "wire-around" requirement of DC-blocked designs. This design allows "in-circuit" cable sweeps. * Innovative, fast-acting gas tube replaceable Arc-Plug® module can be removed and replaced in the field in about one minute with no tools required, and without having to remove the protector from the circuit. The "O" ring sealed knurled knob does the trick! * The Arc-Plug® modules and connectors are "O" ring sealed for complete weatherproofing. * Effective performance. Due to the carefully designed reactance-compensated, through-line cavity and Arc-Plug® module placement, customer and government test approvals show this design is as good as, or better than, DC-blocked designs. Lightning surges do lots of damage annually. Protect your equipment from surges with Alpha Delta UHF Connector Coaxial Cable Surge Protectors from DX Engineering!

Alpha Delta Antenna Hardware Kits

Alpha Delta Antenna Hardware Kits contain one DELTA-C Center Insulator, antenna connection hardware, one model SEP arc-plug static electricity protector that is installed on the back of the DELTA-C, and two model DELTA-CIN End Insulators. These kits are a great way to build wire antennas! The antenna hardware is constructed using Alpha Delta's exclusive Model Delta-C Center Insulators and model CIN End Insulators. They're molded from Deltalloy, an extremely tough and durable plastic specifically blended to withstand sunlight and extreme weather conditions. An SO-239 connector is provided for a direct connection to the PL-259 on your coaxial cable. Or, a ladder-line balanced feedline may be connected directly to the dipole wire ends. If a balanced feedline is used with an antenna tuner in non-resonant applications, the SEP arc-plug must be removed to prevent the "false triggering" of the gas tube. The ALP-SEP arc-plug static electricity protector is a special gas tube component designed to bleed off slow-rising static electricity buildup generated by thunderstorms, high-wind driven snow, sand, or even a harmless looking cloudy day. These static charges have been measured to several thousand volts and can damage or destroy sensitive components in receivers' or transceivers' front-end circuitry. Note: When the "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. Alpha Delta HF SWL Sloper Antennas

Alpha Delta HF SWL Sloper Antennas are a very unique and very effective adaptation of existing antenna theory. They operate as quarter wave slopers, which means that the wires are one quarter wavelength long; or multiples of a quarter-wave on each frequency band. These SWL Sloper Antennas are designed to cover: Medium Wave (0.5 to 1.6 MHz) and the 120, 90, 60, 49, 41, 31, 25, 21, 19, 16 and 13 meter SWL shortwave bands. Compared to a standard half wave dipole, the other quarter wave of these antennas, which is necessary for performance and the proper feed point impedance, is made up of the "Down-Lead" wire, which is attached. With a quarter wave sloper, the center conductor of the coax is attached to the radiating wires and the shield of the coax is attached to the down lead. Standard SO-239 (UHF female) connectors are provided on the ALP-DX-SWL for this purpose. Excellent performance is attained with installations of only 20 to 40 ft. in height. Historically, and by design, quarter wave sloper antennas are known to be excellent DX and long haul antennas. The current lobes, which define the major radiation characteristics of an antenna, are up high at the feed point and are not as subject to attenuation as a vertical antenna, whose current lobe is at ground level. At an Alpha Delta location, side by side comparisons between the ALP-DX-SWL and a 32 ft. commercial vertical with 18 radials show the DX-SWLs to be as much as 10 dB stronger into Europe and Africa. Since a sloper has an optimized low-angle radiation pattern for peak DX performance, it will greatly outperform a dipole mounted at the same height. Exceptional for those really distant weak signal DX stations! The difference can be phenomenal. HF sloper antennas come fully assembled and use stainless steel hardware, UV-protected coils and components, and 12 AWG wire. They are designed to survive severe-weather environments. Insulators and support rope are included. SWLs chase the rare ones with Alpha Delta HF SWL Sloper Antennas from DX Engineering!

Alpha Delta SEP Arc-Plug® Static Electricity Protectors

Alpha Delta SEP Arc-Plug® Static Electricity Protectors are mounted in the DELTA-C Center Insulator and bleed off slow-rising static electricity charges by routing them harmlessly to ground, before they can enter the shack through the feedline. This method is far more effective than DC-grounded baluns or chokes, which can be "popped" by static charges. Dangerous static charges are developed from thunderstorms, high-wind driven snow, or desert sand. The static electricity generated by these forces has been measured to thousands of volts. They're so potent; they can puncture the dielectric of unterminated coax. Alpha Delta SEP Arc-Plug® units are OEM replacements for the protectors located in the back of DELTA-C Center Insulators and are easily replaced by carefully removing the #10 stainless steel hardware used to attach the ends of the antenna wires. Please note the assembly order of your washers, lock washers, wires, nuts, and carefully re-assemble them in the same order after replacing the static electricity protector cartridge. Keep antenna-produced static electricity out of your receiver or transceiver. Order Alpha Delta SEP Arc-Plug® Static Electricity Protectors from DX Engineering and keep a few on hand!

Alpha Delta Twin Sloper Antennas

Alpha Delta Twin Sloper Antennas combine the tremendous DX firepower of the quarter wave sloper with the wide bandwidth of the half wave dipole. These model DX-A twin slopers are designed to cover 160, 80 and 40 meters. One leg is 67 ft. long, while the other is 60 ft. long. The sloper antennas install like an inverted-V with ground return accomplished through the tower or down-lead. These antennas utilize stainless steel hardware, 12-gauge solid copper wire, and efficient Alpha Delta "Iso-Res" RF choke coils. Twin sloper antennas are designed for use on an un-guyed metal tower with a beam on top. The beam provides a capacity hat effect and helps to tune the twin slopers. NOTE: It is possible that the introduction of the sloper antennas into a tower system employing multiple guy wires or other attached wire antennas may cause a slight detuning of the sloper antennas. Other installation types will require the use of an outboard wide-range antenna tuner. Time-proven antennas are always good values. Order Alpha Delta Twin Sloper Antennas from DX Engineering and enjoy some vintage wire antenna performance!
