Sometimes the oldest stuff turns out to be the best. Our exclusive DX Engineering Glass Antenna Insulators hearken back to the earliest years of "wireless" transmissions. Because Irish ship builders of the day pronounced "double" as "dooble," these insulators were once known as "glass doobies" due to their tempered-glass material and double-ended form. Glass insulators offer the highest of electrical insulation properties, strength and resilience available in any insulator of its size. Supplied in a convenient package, these DX Engineering Coil Tap Clips provide easy, adjustable attachment points to un-insulated coils, including homebrew, Miniductor, and Airdux. DX Engineering Balun Wiring Kits
DX Engineering Balun Wiring Kits are just the right parts for permanently connecting a DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 20 Balun or a legacy Comtek balun to practically any beam, Yagi, Log Periodic or rotatable dipole with stud terminals on its driven element. This wiring kit is not a bracket. This is 8 AWG tinned solid copper wire, 2 ft., and an assortment of tinned solder ring terminals to electrically connect a #10 or 1/4 inch terminal stud balun to either size two stud balanced feedpoint on antennas of several types. Wire a balun to an antenna feedpoint with the DX Engineering Balun Wiring Kits. DX Engineering Balun Wiring Kits include: - Two feet, 8-Gauge Tinned Solid-Copper Bus Wire - Four each, Ring terminal, solder, for #10 stud - Four each, Ring terminal, solder, for 1/4 in. stud - Two each, Star washers, 1/4 in. - Two each, Nyloc hex nuts. 1/4 in. for 1/4-20 balun studs Instructions for installation: 1. Determine the separated routing of the minimal wire length needed for each balun terminal to antenna terminal connection with drip loops (see 2.), no greater than 12 inches each, from the securely mounted balun to antenna feedpoint. Wires must be separated by 1/2 to 1 inch from antenna metal parts and each other. 2. Include enough wire length for a small drip loop, a downward "U" shape in the wire, to prevent rain water from running straight down into either connection. This drip loop also provides wire strain and vibration relief. 3. Cut the tinned copper wire in half and trim excess to make the two wire lengths, preferably identical. 4. Select the terminals that match the balun and the antenna feedpoint. 5. Solder the tinned ring terminals onto the tinned wire. 6. Install each completed wire assembly with the appropriate size Nyloc nut and star washer along with the hardware supplied with the balun. Attach the other end with hardware supplied with the antenna Use an open end wrench on the balun stud mount nut when tightening Nyloc nuts, and then the wing nuts, to prevent stud rotation and possible internal damage to the balun. NOTE: This 8 AWG tinned copper wire fits into the supplied ring terminals even though both the #10 and the 1/4 in. ring terminal terminals are marked 12-10 (AWG). Soldering these ring terminals onto this wire is required for a permanent connection. Only crimping will produce an insufficient connection. These balun wiring kits may be used on many manufacturers' stud terminal baluns.

DX Engineering Tilt Base Adapter Plate, model DXE-TBP-1, is used in several antenna applications with the original DX Engineering Tilt Base. This part is used as a backing plate for the DXE-1071 Insulated Channel on the following current and discontinued models: DXE-4030VA-1 DXE-60VA-1 DXE-7580FS-VA-1 DXE-80VA-1 DXE-80VA-2 DXE-80VA-3 DXE-MBVA-1P DXE-MBVE-1 DXE-MBVE-2 DXE-MBVE-3 DXE-VA-BASE This plate is also included with the TB-4P to convert a TB-3P to accommodate and tilt up to 1.75 in. mast. DX Engineering UNUN to Vertical Antenna Feedpoint Connection Kits consist of two tinned copper braid straps for a connection between a DX Engineering 4:1 high power UNUN and the ground radial systems and feedpoint of a vertical antenna. These straps are the correct length to allow for short, low inductance connections, and flexible to allow for the use of a tilt base with the antenna. DX Engineering BEB-3 Insulated Boom-to-Element Brackets
DX Engineering BEB-3 Insulated Boom-to-Element Brackets now provide a convenient, low cost method for insulated elements to be attached to smaller booms when building Yagi, LPDA or other antennas. BEB-3 Brackets are an insulated plate made from an extremely strong polymer which is highly UV resistant. They are pre-drilled to accept DX Engineering Saddle Clamps. So, they are ready with two pairs of holes to mount 0.750 in. tubing for the center portion of a tapered, insulated antenna element, with two SAD-075A Saddle Clamps on one side of the plate. Of the other three pairs of holes, only one pair is used for the appropriate saddle clamp on the other side of the plate, to place the assembly onto an aluminum tubing or fiberglass boom measuring 1.250 in., 1.500 in., or 1.750 in. outside diameter. BEB-3 Brackets may also be used to mount a small beam with a 0.750 in. boom to a mast with a 1.250 in., 1.500 in., or 1.750 in. outside diameter, using DX Engineering Saddle Clamps. BEB-3 Insulated Boom-to-Element Brackets are suitable to build and mount antennas for 15, 12, 10, 6 and 2 meters with reasonable wind survivability. The described assemblies are also great for making a single-band rotatable dipole. For larger antennas please see our BEB-2 Insulated Boom-to-Element Bracket. When using a BEB-3 to build a split driven element for a Yagi or a rotatable dipole, use the SEI-1 Split-Element Insert to provide the proper 0.750 in. element tubing support. The DX Engineering BEB-3 Insulated Boom-to-Element Brackets separate and insulate the element from the boom thereby requiring no element length corrections. You can cut the tubing just like the antenna design program (AO, EZNEC, etc.) tells you and it will work as well as your computer model. You may also want to use our HMS-2P Hairpin Driven Element Matching System and our Baluns to complete your Dream Beam. Don't forget to purchase a copy of DX Engineering's Yagi Mechanical to make sure your elements have the desired wind survivability.
