DX Engineering 4030VA-1 Dual-Band THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas
DX Engineering's Dual-Band THUNDERBOLT® 40/30 Meter Vertical Antennas are high performance dual-band pile-up busters that are tunable to operate with an SWR of 1.5:1 or less across both bands. The maximum power rating ensures solid performance, particularly on CW. Plus, the digital modes are popular on 30 meters. The massive EXTREN® channel insulator supporting the rugged structural grade type 6063-T832 drawn aluminum antenna radiator has over twice the tensile and flexural strength of competitive nylon plastic materials, and they are superior for their RF handling characteristics. Designed with rugged 6063 heat-treated, corrosion-resistant aluminum tubing and stainless steel hardware, these antennas are very durable and attractive. Now, you can have full quarter wave performance on both bands without having to compromise. Of course, another key to performance is a good ground radial system. We recommend 32 radials, 32 ft. long. Fewer radials will work, but with diminished results. These antennas include the antenna element, insulated Extren mounting channel, mounting plate, tilt base, stainless steel hardware, and stainless steel element clamps. See Suggested Parts for additional items that will enhance the performance of your installation. DX Engineering's Dual-Band THUNDERBOLT® 40/30 Meter Vertical Antennas feature: * Full band coverage on 40 and 30 meters with SWR under 1.5:1, with no tuner needed * 40m bandwidth greater than 750 kHz with SWR under 2:1 * Tunable above and below 7 MHz range for MARS and CAP frequencies * Over maximum legal power handling * Optimum 30 ft. overall height * Self-supporting design to withstand 60 mph wind without guying Note: For additional information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab.

DX Engineering 8040 NVIS Antennas
DX Engineering 8040 NVIS Antennas: Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) is a propagation mode which uses high-angle radiation that sends signals almost straight up! They are then reflected back to Earth for very effective short to medium distance communications that works virtually every day and into the evening. NVIS dipoles are almost Omni-directional and their height requirement is for the feedpoint to be at only 15 feet above the ground! These 80 and 40 meter wire antennas work very well with their feedpoint at only 15 feet above the ground, supported by the included mast, or your own non-metallic support. The ropes tied to the wire dipole end-insulators are used as guys for the support mast, and are secured to the ground with four tent pegs. DXE-NVIS-8040S and the DXE-NVIS-8040 antenna kits are complete with everything required; the fiberglass mast (four, 4 ft. sections that extend to 15 ft.), a DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 20 1:1 Balun, model DXE-MC20-1-1T, a balun mounting kit, coax strain relief bracket, antenna wire, insulators, four tent pegs, rope, and a 100 ft. RG-8X coax assembly with PL-259s! The four legs of the antenna, each deployed 90 degrees apart, provide the mast guying. DXE-NVIS-8040SNM and the DXE-NVIS-8040NM antenna kits are exactly the same kits with everything except the 15 ft. fiberglass mast. Use your own non-metallic mast or hang the feedpoint 15 ft. above the ground from the limb of a tree. The DXE-NVIS-8040S and DXE-NVIS-8040SNM are shortened NVIS wire antenna kit version that features loading coils to make the 80 meter dipole legs the same length as the 40 meter dipole legs, 34 ft., so this antenna fits into a square area that is only about 50 ft. by 50 ft. The DXE-NVIS-8040 and DXE-NVIS-8040NM are full size, with 67 ft. wire dipole antenna legs for 80 meters and 34 ft. legs for 40 meters and it fits into a rectangular area approximately 100 ft. by 50 ft. NVIS rarely works at frequencies outside the range of 2 MHz to 10 MHz. The signal must penetrate the D layer of the ionosphere and bounce off the F layer. Signals on frequencies below 2 MHz will not penetrate the D layer; frequencies higher than 10 MHz will not bounce off the F layer at these sharp angles, they penetrate and continue out into space. Regular-height dipoles or vertical antennas have a lower take off angle and your signal may be heard three states away, but not in your own state due to the "skip zone." This skip zone is the area between the maximum ground wave distance and the shortest sky wave distance where no communications are possible. Depending on operating frequencies, antennas, their height above ground and propagation conditions, this skip zone can start at roughly 10 to 20 miles away and extend out to several hundred miles. NVIS mode of operation makes it ideal for in-state and next state communications during disasters or other emergency situations. The military has used NVIS techniques for decades to provide short haul communication with other units on the ground. This is why these antennas are ideal for round-table gatherings with regional ham friends on 40 and 80 meters, day to day and night after night. These antennas are easy to deploy and are great for camping, RVs, QRP, ARES, EMCOMM, State QSO Parties and Parks On The Air (POTA) and any other uses where short range HF operation on 80 or 40 meters is desirable. They are actually pretty stealthy, too! Due to their near vertical radiation, NVIS dipoles are almost Omni-directional. They even have a legal-limit power rating! Remember, Amateur Radio operators look to 80 and 40 meters for short skip NVIS operations. Order DX Engineering 8040 NVIS Antennas and fill in the skip zone!

DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches
DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches are two-radio 8-antenna switches (2x8) designed to switch coaxial lines in medium to high power RF antenna systems. With excellent performance on HF and 6 meters, they are typically used in single operator two-radio (SO2R) or multi-two contesting stations. They offer high levels of port-to-port isolation and reliability, the same as the famous DX Engineering RR8 series single input 8-port remote antenna switches. Manual dual-control operation of the DXE-RR2X8B is possible with two separate 1-of-8 control consoles that send +13.8VDC to the selected port, such as the DXE-EC-8. In this instance, the main transceiver has precedence over the secondary when attempting to use the same antenna port, so manual switching care must be exercised. An alternative first come, first served switching approach is available with the optional DXE-MX2X8 Interface Unit. It accepts BCD signals from two DXE-CC-8A Deluxe Control Consoles, and it locks out the selected port from the other radio, rather than main port precedence. DX Engineering RR2X8B Dual Input Switches may be interfaced with a customer-supplied logical switching unit. A third-party antenna controller with dual 1-of-8 switching may be used directly with the DXE-RR2X8B Switch or with BCD to the DXE-MX2X8 Interface Unit. If the DXE-MM2X8 Interface Unit is not used, the third party unit must provide protection against hot switching and prevent the main or secondary radio ports from attempting to select the same antenna port at any time. DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches feature a custom-made stainless steel chassis and a special RF shielded high impact thermoplastic cover. They have a custom conductive gasket to complete the seal between the cover and stainless steel housing base. Disassembly is not required for control wiring access. DX Engineering RR2X8B switches use removable screw terminals for the control cable plugs. These removable plugs greatly simplify installation by eliminating the need for soldering or opening the enclosure. The internal, covered relays are moisture-resistant, providing many years of exceptional performance. The circuitry of the DXE-RR2X8B switches allows the simultaneous selection of multiple antenna port with the required control signals. They can be used in complex antenna systems including stacked and phased arrays. Also, conventional one-of-eight antenna switching for two separate stations is possible using separate 1-of-8 switching arrangements. For example, the main radio Input "M" may select and be connected to any of the 8 ports while the secondary Radio Input "S" can simultaneously select any of the ports that the main isn't using. The main controller always has precedence over any selection made by the secondary controller, unless the DXE-MX2X8 is employed. Features of DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches include: * Rugged, attractive, fully shielded weatherproof housing * DX Engineering stainless steel V-clamp included for easy mounting to tower legs or masts from 1-2 in. diameter * Multi-conductor external cable plugs for easy removal, connection and maintenance * Excellent port-to-port Isolation; greater than 70 dB at 30 MHz, worst case; greater than 60 dB up to 60 MHz * High RF tolerant UHF connectors * Enclosed 16 ampere RF relays * Safe 12V DC relay operation * 16 MOVs for surge protection on control lines * 16 RF bypass capacitors Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. Make your SO2R or other multi-radio multi-antenna operations easy with a DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switch.

DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Switches
DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Switches are newly designed to combine two identical Yagi or log periodic beams, or three quarter-wave vertical antennas, into a phased array for enhanced operation. There is no need for coaxial delay lines with the DX Engineering PRO-STACK switches. Just connect your antennas to the phasing switch controller with equal-length 50 ohm lines. PRO-STACK switch units are available with high-quality PTFE-silver plated SO-239 (UHF female) connectors. These relay units are 1-of-3 source voltage controlled at 12-15VDC over a four conductor cable. A matching Control Console is available separately or is included in the PRO-STACK System. These phasing switches can be used for any applications that require the following four basic antenna feed selections: both antenna ports in-phase, both antenna ports out-of-phase, antenna port 1 only, and antenna port 2 only. The default is both output ports in-phase. Impedance matching automatically changes when any antenna port is disconnected. Generally, stacked Yagi antennas are separated vertically greater than 1/2-wavelength free space. Since the DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems are broadband, they may be easily adapted to larger arrays. For example, four stacked Yagis may be combined by creating two sets of two, and then using a third DX Engineering control console to combine the first two sets. PRO-STACK switches can also be used to feed three quarter wave resonant vertical antennas for a high-gain 4-pattern array. In this arrangement, the center #2 passive element is directly grounded to a good ground radial system at all times, while the end elements #1 and #3 are then fed in various phase relationships by the PRO-STACK. Details are in the complete PRO-STACK PS-2B Instruction Manual linked here in Documentation. Features of the DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Switches include these great features: * Power handling up to 5 kW * Broadband coverage on 160-10 meters * High-impact RF shielded weatherproof housing * High-RF tolerant, silver-PTFE SO-239 (UHF female) connectors * Proven DX Engineering RF relays for high performance * Safe 12 VDC relay operation, even on battery or solar power * MOV surge protection on control lines * External, removable control line connector * RoHS-compliant assembly

DX Engineering DVA Dual Vertical Array Systems
DX Engineering DVA Dual Vertical Array Systems are advanced phasing systems that have set a new standard for array performance with two ground-mounted verticals. Dual Vertical Array Systems include a compact DVA Phasing Relay Unit made specifically for an individual HF band and an EC-DVA Directional Control Console. DX Engineering Dual Vertical Arrays produce two opposite enhanced End-Fire Cardioid patterns and one Broadside-Omni pattern. Heavy-duty components handle over 2 kW continuous RF power for enhanced performance at low SWR over a wide bandwidth. The Dual Vertical Array end-fire directional patterns achieve a real front-to-back over 20 dB with typical array forward gain up to 3 dB over a single vertical. The greatest advantage of a Dual Vertical Array is that a tower and rotator are not required, as with a Yagi antenna. Especially for 160, 80, and 40, and even on the other HF bands, a Dual Vertical Array is mechanically simpler and safer. Here is a financially practical directional antenna that is much easier to install! These are great directional antenna systems for temporary and Field Day operation, as well as for permanent builds, because they ARE so much easier to install than a beam! If you are dissatisfied with your present system, are ready for an upgrade, or just need to get out of the tower game, the DX Engineering DVA is your answer! Refurbish an existing antenna system, equip your temporary array, or build a new phased array with a DVA. It's all on the ground, safe and simple: DX Engineering Dual Vertical Arrays offer a better way to enjoy a high-performance mono-band directional antenna. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information.

DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array Electronics Package
DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array Electronics Package, DXE-RFS-SYS-2P, is for the array builder who wants to use their own passive receive verticals for a mono-band receive array. See the DXE-R4S-SYS-V3 for the Complete Receive Four Square V3 Array System with Receive Short Element Active Verticals. DX Engineering Receive Four Square Arrays dramatically improve reception of weak distant signals with excellent rejection of extraneous signals and noise. This four-direction switchable array uses time delay phasing of four physically short receiving vertical elements. The resulting directional receiving pattern is superior to four short Beverage antennas and typical two or three element arrays. The Receive Four Square is less susceptible to high angle signals than EWE, Flag, Pennant, K9AY and SAL antennas. This type of receive array, using physically short vertical elements, limits signal and noise for dramatically superior weak signal reception, as compared to full size transmitting antennas and arrays. With proper spacing of four unobtrusive, physically short vertical elements, the Receive Four Square Array System provides high performance directional receive for HF Amateur, SWL or AM DXing. Click or tap the title of a listed item for an overview - a complete description, Specifications, Required and Suggested Parts. Links to instruction manuals and charts appear in Documentation. DX Engineering Receive Four Square Arrays offer directional performance comparable to four long Beverage wire antennas, using far less land area. This Controller and Switch Console package is designed to be used with four identical, user-supplied, active or passive symmetrically-spaced ground-mounted vertical elements to provide switching for a 4-direction receiving antenna system. Passive elements will generally provide an optimized monoband receiving system. Conversely, with four DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical antennas, DXE-RSEAV-1, the properly sized array can achieve excellent directional receiving performance over three HF bands. Build an exceptionally effective, electronically rotatable, stationary receive antenna that lets you hear the DX that cannot be heard on a transmit antenna. Dig the weak signals out of the noise with an antenna that can help make your station one of the best; install the DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array System. * Important Note regarding DX Engineering Protection Plans and Kit Combo Contents NOTE: Protection plans cannot be purchased for combination packages or on applicable devices after shipment. DX Engineering Rotator Super Duty Mast Clamps
DX Engineering Rotator Super Duty Mast Clamps are designed to be used where maximum torque handling is required on aluminum, steel, Chromoly steel or stainless steel mast tubing, significantly improving the connection between the rotator and the directional antenna rotating mast over other types of mast clamps. With the choice of two Super Duty Saddle Clamps or the "HD" model with three Super Duty Saddle Clamps, these remarkable rotator mast clamps are available in three sizes; for a 2 inch OD mast (DXE-SDMC-2 and -2HD), a 2.5 inch OD mast (DXE-SDMC-2-5 and -2-5HD) and a 3 inch OD mast (DXE-SDMC-3 and -3HD), intended for use only on tubing, not for fractional sized pipe. Rotator Super Duty Mast Clamps are designed and manufactured to mate with the DX Engineering DXE-RT4500HD Heavy Duty Rotator. Each powder coated steel Super Duty Mast Clamp vertical plate has holes for the applicable Super Duty Clamps and the base plates have an integral weep channel to ensure moisture is not trapped in the mast. These mast clamps are complete, supplied with two (standard) or three (HD) Super Duty Saddle Clamps, stainless steel backing plates, rugged 8-18 stainless steel 3/8-16 hex mounting and clamp bolt sets, with all fastener hardware included. Unlike stamped or machined-type clamps, Super Duty Saddle Clamps are cast from a rugged aluminum alloy that grips tubing with a special textured surface for an incredibly secure fit that resists torque, wind and weather. All three sizes, DXE-SDMC-2/-2HD, DXE-SDMC-2.5/- 2.5HD and DXE-SDMC-3/-3HD can be used on Rohn 45 and larger towers. Only the 2 inch mast versions DXE-SDMC-2 and -2HD will fit inside Rohn 25G towers. NOTE: Whenever the planned installation of mast mounted rotatable antennas will have a total wind load or wind exposure rating of 18 square feet or more, the use of a 2.5 or 3.0 inch OD mast with a DX Engineering Rotator Super Duty Mast Clamp is highly recommended.

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits
DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits include plentiful quantities of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals that are easily soldered. Along with spools of the same wire as used by the most successful contest stations and DX enthusiasts for their ground-mounted vertical antennas, these kits will help your antenna system achieve optimal performance. The 16 AWG tinned solid copper wire in these kits provide an extremely cost effective solution for the high-count, full-size ground radial wire systems that are required for top-performing HF vertical antenna installations. Ground wire radials do not need to be any specific length because the earth detunes them. Fill your ground-mounted vertical space with radials that run out from the antenna feedpoint in all possible directions, as far as they can go, up to about one-quarter wavelength on the lowest frequency. Even radials that are all about one-eighth wavelength long on the lowest frequency band are just fine for multi-band verticals over reasonably conductive soils. Use longer radials on lossy soils with sand and rocks. In most cases, a greater number of short ground radials will provide greater efficiency and stronger signals than is achieved with a few long radials. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits are available in four sizes: Shorter spool kits, 500 ft. and 1,000 ft., are perfect for the single HF ground-mounted vertical. Longer spool kits, 2,500 ft. and 5,000 ft., are intended for 2-element Dual Vertical Arrays, 3-element ProStack Arrays, and 4-element Four Square Array Systems. Each kit has the appropriate number of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals. Why is this wire the absolute best choice for any ground-mounted vertical antenna? Because, DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire will last much longer in a variety of soil conditions as compared to bare copper, copper coated steel or aluminum wires. Radials deployed with those other wire types actually corrode and degrade rather quickly. Unfortunately, they do so slowly enough that the operator does not easily perceive that degradation in terms of antenna system performance. With Tinned Copper wire, full radial system integrity is maintained for a greater number of years. Depending upon soil type, installations with DXE-TCRW16 will maintain vertical antenna performance for many, many years… and even decades. NOTE: To prevent accelerated corrosion and the possibility of noise, DO NOT use metal anchor pins (lawn staples) on Tinned Copper Radial Wire. These kits contain only the DXE-STPL-100BD Biodegradable Anchor Pins to hold down bare wire radials. Biodegradable staples allow easy installation of radial wires and will disperse in a couple years, after they are no longer needed, making them site friendly. Biodegradable staples work best in soft ground where they may be pushed or lightly tapped into the ground. Since they are a lacto-resin material they are subject to breaking in rocky or hard soil and are not intended to be hammered. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire kits are the right choice for long lasting top-performance radial systems for your ground-mounted vertical antenna system.
