DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems

DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four-Square Systems bring together the highest level of engineering excellence with the practical realities of operator convenience and ease of installation. These four-square hybrid systems are available in versions for the 160, 80, and 40 meter bands. They can be easily dropped into your quarter-wave spaced vertical 4-antenna array to provide optimum directional control. They allow the operator to receive or transmit with 5.5 dB gain in any one of four directions with a 20+ dB front-to-back ratio for interference reduction from unwanted directions. You can also switch to a single Omni-directional pattern with a push of a single button. This combination permits you to listen "all-around," unhindered by pattern nulls, and then select the best direction for signal reception and noise rejection. TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems are designed for use with four monoband vertical antennas placed at the corners of a square that is one-quarter wavelength on a side. The vertical element must be ungrounded and resonant in the desired band, and should be directly base-fed by the coaxial cable phasing lines from the centrally located controller (shunt-fed towers or radiating elements cannot be used). DX Engineering has several vertical antennas that are well suited for this application. Above all, a properly designed and installed radial system is necessary for top antenna performance, whether it's a single vertical or a full array. DX Engineering strongly recommends our optional Q75- series quarter wavelength cables constructed from our own high quality DXE-11U coax. It features a waterproof PE jacket, foam dielectric and has a velocity factor of 82 percent. These cables are electronically pruned to a precise electrical length derived from your choice of center operating frequency, terminated with hand-soldered silver-PTFE PL-259 connectors and weather-sealed with shrinkable tubing. Finally, each cable is tested for high voltage breakdown for maximum reliability and power handling. Since the transmit power is divided by the controller, the coaxial cable can handle QRO power with ease. If you already have a four-square array with a hybrid controller and would like to upgrade to improved performance and the Omni feature, the DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems are a direct transplant. BCD logic switching allows for the use of a 4-wire control cable to perform the necessary switching functions when powered by the included control console. Features: * Classic hybrid design is easy to install * Four directions plus Omni for versatile operation * 5 kW CW power rating for high reliability * Hot switching lock-out to disable amplifier while switching * Drop-in replacement for COMTEK systems * Proven DX Engineering RF relays for high performance * RF Shielded, high impact thermoplastic cover offers unique protection * Relays cycle during Power-On to ensure clean contacts Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. Four-square systems work great! DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four-Square Systems provide the heart of a modern phased array.

DX Engineering DVA Phasing Relay Units

DX Engineering DVA Phasing Relay Units are the band specific parts of the Dual Vertical Array Systems. These are larger, new Phasing Relay Units for any HF band, 160 through 10 meters. New heavy-duty components handle 2 kW continuous RF power for array performance at low SWR over a wide bandwidth. These mono-band weatherproof DVA Phasing Relay Units include a clamp for mounting directly between two ground-mounted, full-size, quarter-wave resonant verticals. Their companion DXE-EC-DVA Directional Control Console is a 3-direction array pattern selector that operates on 13.8 Vdc and features a 3-position rotary switch, directional LED indicators and scratch pads.. Dual Vertical Array end-fire directional patterns achieve a real front-to-back over 20 dB with typical array forward gain up to 3 dB over a single vertical. Specifications for the DX Engineering Dual Vertical Array: * Forward Gain (approx., compared to single vertical): 3 dB End-Fire; 1 dB Broadside-Omni * Front-to-back: Over 20 dB nominal, end-fire patterns * Power Handling: 2 kW continuous * RF Connectors: Three SO-239 (UHF female); Transmitter, Antenna 1, Antenna 2 * Control Cable: 3 conductors, min. 20 AWG * Control Cable Set-Screw Connectors: Relay Unit--external; Control Console--internal DX Engineering Dual Vertical Array mono-band phasing systems are available for each HF band, with 160, 80 and 40 meters in stock, and 60 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 meter systems available by special order. Your phased array pattern results may vary, due to band conditions, the surroundings at antenna and the radial system installation. Additional information is in the Dual Vertical Array instruction manuals, linked at each system description web page.

DX Engineering DVA Dual Vertical Array Systems

DX Engineering DVA Dual Vertical Array Systems are advanced phasing systems that have set a new standard for array performance with two ground-mounted verticals. Dual Vertical Array Systems include a compact DVA Phasing Relay Unit made specifically for an individual HF band and an EC-DVA Directional Control Console. DX Engineering Dual Vertical Arrays produce two opposite enhanced End-Fire Cardioid patterns and one Broadside-Omni pattern. Heavy-duty components handle over 2 kW continuous RF power for enhanced performance at low SWR over a wide bandwidth. The Dual Vertical Array end-fire directional patterns achieve a real front-to-back over 20 dB with typical array forward gain up to 3 dB over a single vertical. The greatest advantage of a Dual Vertical Array is that a tower and rotator are not required, as with a Yagi antenna. Especially for 160, 80, and 40, and even on the other HF bands, a Dual Vertical Array is mechanically simpler and safer. Here is a financially practical directional antenna that is much easier to install! These are great directional antenna systems for temporary and Field Day operation, as well as for permanent builds, because they ARE so much easier to install than a beam! If you are dissatisfied with your present system, are ready for an upgrade, or just need to get out of the tower game, the DX Engineering DVA is your answer! Refurbish an existing antenna system, equip your temporary array, or build a new phased array with a DVA. It's all on the ground, safe and simple: DX Engineering Dual Vertical Arrays offer a better way to enjoy a high-performance mono-band directional antenna.
