DX Engineering Premium Antenna Wire

DX Engineering Premium Antenna Wire helps you achieve top performance and long, trouble-free operation at a very reasonable cost. This PVC-insulated 14 AWG stranded copper wire is comprised of 19 strands of 27 AWG solid copper. Its relaxed PVC insulation is UV-resistant and rolls out easily, unlike wire that is commonly available at "big-box" stores, which coils and kinks. Our antenna wire is well worth its price for its features, especially for ease in handling. Over a decade of successful wire antenna installations have proven this insulated copper wire is up to the task. Conservatively rated at 92.5 lbs. breaking strength, this wire is strong enough for virtually every wire antenna application. Suggested installation includes supporting the feedpoint to properly handle the weight of the feedline, and balun if used, so that the wires only need to support themselves. When placed under extreme stress, this copper wire will stretch before breaking, allowing it to serve in a longer lasting installation for wire antennas of almost any style. Available in several pre-cut coiled lengths as well as on 500 and 1,000 ft. rolls, UV-resistant black insulated 14 AWG stranded copper DX Engineering Antenna Wire lasts longer than bare wire exposed to the elements. Use it with confidence for your wire antenna projects and get on the air!

DX Engineering Coaxial Connectors

The DX Engineering Coaxial Connectors shown here include two-part, silver-plated PL-259 and Type-N connectors designed to be crimped or soldered to the shield and soldered to the center conductor. These connectors deliver excellent performance for HF, VHF, and UHF applications. DX Engineering's PL-259 and Type-N connectors feature silver-plated brass throughout the outer and inner conductors and use PTFE dielectric—the best RF insulator—for very low loss and high electrical breakdown strength. Also available are DX Engineering Silver-Plated Reducers, which adapt standard solder-type PL-259 and Type-N connectors for use with single-shield RG-8X and RG-58U coaxial cables. While many types and grades of coaxial RF connectors are offered on the market, DX Engineering provides only top-quality connectors with silver-plated brass bodies and PTFE dielectric. These two-part solder-style connectors fit RG-213, RG-8U, RG-8X/LMR240 and other standard 0.405 in. single-braid shield coaxial cables intended for soldering*—but not 400MAX or LMR-400 double-shield cables. These solder-shield and solder-center connectors are the preferred choice for many Amateur Radio operators installing single-braid shield coaxial cables. Order your DX Engineering Coaxial Connectors and Reducers today! *NOTE: To prevent noise issues, modern engineering practice has determined that double shield cables that have one foil and one braid should not be soldered to the braid, including DXE-400MAX and LMR-400 style cables. Those cables should be terminated with crimp shield or clamp shield style connectors, also available from DX Engineering.

DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables

DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables connect the "ground on transmit" or contact closure provided by the radio that is required to make an HF amplifier switch from "receive mode" to "transmit and amplify mode" when using PTT (push-to-talk), VOX or break-in CW keying. DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables are made for specific transceiver models that have special DIN or mini-DIN connector accessory ports which provide the transceiver's only connections for linear amplifier keying. One type of amplifier keying cable has one RCA phono plug for the amplifier relay jack, which is all that is needed. When the transceiver PTT (push-to-talk) is keyed, the RCA plug center pin is connected to the shield (and chassis ground in most cases) to key the amp relay or its solid state keying circuit. Instead of a direct connection to the amp relay, the RCA plug may be connected to the keying input of an accessory device (DXE-KEYLINE-3, DXE-RTR-2 or DXE-NCC-2), amplifier keying interface (DXE-SV-KR or legacy Ameritron ARB-704 or KD9SV Products SV-KR) or other amp keying line interrupt device, such as a meter or an array controller. Each has a keying input and a keying output for the amplifier relay or another accessory. Another type of amplifier keying cable has two RCA phono plugs, one RED plug for the amplifier relay jack and one WHITE plug for ALC (Automatic Level Control) voltage from the amplifier. The legacy ALC connection does not need to be used with present era solid state transceivers and most modern amplifiers. ALC was required for use on transmitters with tube finals. Some modern amplifiers do not have an ALC output connector. If the amplifier does not have ALC it is okay to leave the WHITE plug disconnected. Order your DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables to connect to your transceiver accessory port for keying amplifiers, sequencers, receive-transmit interfaces, buffer relays, and other accessories. NOTE: To enable the function of this keying cable, some late model Kenwood transceivers require menu activation of the amplifier keying circuit.

DX Engineering RG-174 50-ohm Hi-Viz Orange Mini Coaxial Assemblies

DX Engineering RG-174 50-ohm Hi-Viz Orange Mini Coaxial Cable Assemblies feature high quality BNC male connectors. An easy-to-see orange jacket on this extremely thin, 0.11 inch diameter, super flexible cable is a smart choice for SOTA, POTA and other quick-deploy portable antennas that are fed with a 25, 35 or 50 ft. length. These 1.5, 3 and 6 ft. coax assemblies in orange are easy to identify on the test bench and behind the radio for QRP and receive only connections. How is this a good choice? CLICK the cable to see the product page. The OVERVIEW has a Loss Chart with interesting info. The efficiency of this amazingly thin coaxial cable is unexpectedly good, adding slightly more attenuation for a given length as compared to larger, heavier coax on HF. For typical applications with portable antennas and equipment interconnections, the losses are inconsequential on the HF bands with the cable lengths offered. A typical portable antenna used with a 25 ft. cable has 0.73dB loss on 14 MHz (20M band) which represents only 15% loss. An extreme example is with a 50 foot DXE-174VDB050 cable used on a 10 meter (28 MHz) antenna has just over 2dB attenuation. Even this power loss of 38% results in an imperceptible difference at the receiving end of a radio contact. Losses are insignificant with DXE-174V cable assemblies on HF bands, especially with 1.5, 3 and 6 ft. length jumpers, or with 25 and 35 ft. cables. Use DX Engineering RG-174 50-ohm Hi-Viz Orange Mini Coaxial Assemblies for HF POTA and SOTA antennas that are easier to wrap up, carry, install and pack up. They're ready for your HF portable operations and much more! NOTE: These cable assemblies are NOT intended to be used for long lengths on VHF or UHF antennas, on frequencies above 50 MHz with significant loss.
