DX Engineering 450 Ohm Ladder Line

DX Engineering 450 Ohm Ladder Line is a transmitting grade low-loss parallel-wire RF feedline featuring a strong, waterproof, UV black polyethylene insulation. To maintain the wire spacing between the conductors while reducing losses, the integral flat plastic material alternates with rectangular openings, which explains the "Window Line" nickname. Capable of handling over 3 kW of RF power, DXE-LL450 is a very low-loss transmission line across HF. It is ideal for exceptionally long feedline runs and for low band wire antennas operated on multiple bands on which the feedpoint impedance can vary significantly, causing mismatch and elevated SWR. Unlike coaxial cables, DX Engineering DXE-LL450 Ladder Line maintains low RF losses at frequencies where antenna feedpoint impedance mismatches cause high SWR. It can provide significantly higher efficiency than coaxial cable when feeding non-resonant antenna systems that are matched with a wide impedance range antenna tuner. DXE-LL450 450 Ohm Ladder Line is a high-quality flat RF feedline, about 0.938 in. wide (15/16") with two 16-gauge copper-clad steel wire conductors (29 AWG x 19 strands) that provide the strength to hold up for long spans between supports without twisting. It exhibits a nominal impedance of around 400 Ohms and a nominal Velocity Factor of 91 percent. For proper performance, LL450 Ladder Line must be installed suspended through the air supported by insulators every 25 ft. or less, kept at right angles and several inches away from other wires, and at least one foot away when run parallel to the earth or large metal surfaces. Installing with an axial twist of one turn per 10 ft. can reduce wind, rain and ice loading, RF coupling and RF noise. DXE-LL450 can be mounted with insulators and suspended on metal or wood posts or run along a wood fence line, only if the fence has no wires or metal mesh that couples RF noise or unbalances the feedline. Often used for non-resonant wire doublet antennas, DXE-LL450 can be more easily terminated outdoors to a DXE-MC20-C4-1 4:1 Balun or a DXE-MC20-1-1T 1:1 Balun. Then, with no inline switches or relays, directly connect the antenna system to a typical indoor wide range antenna tuner using a solid dielectric coax, not foam dielectric, to handle high voltage at high SWR. DXE-213U or DXE-214 Coaxial Cable Assemblies 12 or 18 ft. with PL-259s are perfect for this method, which eliminates the need for a special balanced tuner, and avoids the losses and detuning effects caused by unbalancing when ladder line is routed indoors near wires and ducts. DXE-LL450 is sold by the foot, previously sold as DXE-LL450-CTL, this is the same ladder line with a new part number. It is also available in spools of 500 ft. DXE-LL450-5C and 1,000 ft. DXE-LL450-1K, which are specified for DX Engineering Reversible Beverage System Antennas. NOTE: This type of feedline is intended for MF and HF use and is not suitable for use above 54 MHz. Also consider DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line, DXE-LL300, an excellent alternative low-loss HF feed line that reduces impedance extremes on non-resonant HF multiband antenna systems.

DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line

DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line is a transmitting grade low-loss parallel-wire RF feedline featuring a strong, waterproof, UV black polyethylene insulation. To maintain the wire spacing between the conductors while reducing losses, the integral flat plastic material alternates with rectangular openings, which explains the "Window Line" nickname. Capable of handling over 2.5 kW of RF power, DXE-LL300 is a very low-loss transmission line across HF that is ideal for long feedline runs. It is an excellent feedline choice for a low band non-resonant wire antenna operated on multiple bands on which the impedance varies significantly, causing mismatches and elevated SWR. Unlike coaxial cables, DX Engineering DXE-LL300 Ladder Line maintains low RF losses at frequencies where impedance mismatches cause high SWR. The lower impedance of DX Engineering 300 Ohm Ladder Line is actually better suited than 450 ohm ladder line for limiting the impedance extremes of non-resonant multiband antennas. It can provide significantly higher efficiency than coaxial cable for feeding non-resonant antenna systems that are matched with a wide impedance range antenna tuner. DXE-LL300 Ladder Line is a flat, high-quality RF feedline, about 0.438 in. wide with two 18-gauge copper-clad steel wire conductors that provide the strength to hold up for long spans between supports without twisting. It exhibits a nominal impedance of 275 Ohms and a nominal Velocity Factor of 88 percent. For proper performance, LL300 Ladder Line must be installed suspended through the air supported by insulators every 25 ft. or less, kept at right angles and several inches away from other wires, and at least one foot away when run parallel to the earth or large metal surfaces. DX Engineering RG-174 50-ohm Hi-Viz Orange Mini Coaxial Cable

DX Engineering RG-174 50-ohm Hi-Viz Orange Mini Coaxial Cable has an easy-to-see orange jacket. This extremely thin 0.11 inch diameter super flexible cable is a smart choice for SOTA, POTA and other quick-deploy portable antennas. Mini coax in orange is easy to identify on the test bench and behind the radio for QRP and receive only connections. How is this a good choice? CLICK the cable to see the product page. The efficiency of this amazingly thin coaxial cable is unexpectedly good, adding slightly more attenuation for a given length as compared to larger, heavier coax on HF. For typical applications with portable antennas and equipment interconnections, the losses are inconsequential across the HF bands with the cable lengths offered. A typical portable antenna used with a 25 ft. cable has 0.73dB loss on 14 MHz (20M band) which represents only 15% loss. An extreme example is with 50 foot of DXE-174V cable on a 10 meter (28 MHz) that has just over 2dB attenuation, and a power loss of 38%, which results in an imperceptible difference at the receiving end of a radio contact. Losses are insignificant with DXE-174V coax on HF bands, especially with jumpers. Use DX Engineering RG-174 50-ohm Hi-Viz Orange Mini Coaxial Cable for HF POTA and SOTA antennas that are easier to wrap up, carry, install and pack up. NOTE: This coaxial cable is NOT intended to be used for long lengths on VHF or UHF antennas; frequencies above 50 MHz will have significant loss.

Amazingly easy to use and prepare, Silicone Power Wire is a super flexible, high strand-count insulated pair which pulls apart easily, should you want to — that's why it bears the description "zip cord." Silicone insulation features greater resistance to heat, UV and contaminants and this power wire, which is easier to handle, can be used in place of standard PVC power wire zip cord. DX Engineering Silicone Power Wire is available in six sizes: 18, 16, 14, 12, 10 and 8 AWG (0.8, 1.3, 2.1, 3.3, 5.3 and 8.4 sq. mm equivalent). This wire is sold in any per-foot length, so you can order just the right size and length for your system! Build your DC power systems with this wire, terminated with Anderson Powerpole® connectors, using our Ultra Crimp Tools, all available from DX Engineering. Order alternative sizes and extra lengths to keep on hand for those spur-of-the-moment projects. DX Engineering Silicone Cord Power Wire is ready to handle power for your equipment!

DX Engineering RG-6U 75-ohm Standard Quad-Shield Coaxial Cable

DX Engineering RG-6U 75-ohm Standard Quad-Shield Coaxial Cable is our regular RG-6U with a Type II PVC jacket, low loss and greater protection against electromagnetic interference. Available cut to length or in 1,000 ft. spools; this is a high-quality standard RG-6U quad-shield cable. This cable may be terminated in the field with black EX6XL Type-F Universal Compression Connectors, also available from DX Engineering. (Please Note: Also available is our waterproof direct-bury PE jacket RG-6 version: search 75-ohm Flooded Quad Shield, DXE-RG6UFQ-CTL and DXE-RG6UFQ-1000.) DXE-RG-6UQ cable is ideal for many applications, such as active or passive HF Amateur Radio and SWL receive antenna arrays and systems, LW and MW magnetic loop antennas, Beverage antennas, over-the-air TV, AM and FM broadcast reception, CATV systems and video distribution as well as satellite radio installations like Sirius/XM. In fact, the low-loss characteristic of our RG-6 cable is excellent for digital audio up to the microwave frequencies that Satellite Radio systems employ! Our RG-6 quad shield cable has gas-injected polyethylene foam dielectric for the lowest loss and maximum moisture resistance. With an 18 AWG copper-clad steel center conductor it is extremely strong and durable. Two foil shields plus two high-density aluminum braids provide ultimate four-layer RF shielding and the UV protected black jacket is made with a tough, but very flexible, PVC. The nominal impedance of DXE-RG-6UQ cable is 75 ohms, and it has a nominal Velocity Factor of 82%. The minimum bend radius of this cable is 2.50 in. Beware of cheaply made cable with unknown impedance and loss characteristics. If some other cable is substantially less expensive, that should tell you something, right? Please Note: Also available is our direct-bury PE jacket RG-6 version: search 75-ohm Flooded Quad Shield, DXE-RG6UFQ and DXE-RG6UFQ-1000. This DX Engineering RG-6UQ 75-ohm Standard Quad-Shield Coaxial Cable is a Type-II PVC jacket RG-6 quad-shield cable that is RoHS compliant. Check out these low attenuation figures: 5 MHz: 0.6 dB/100 ft. 30 MHz: 1.1 dB/100 ft. 55 MHz: 1.6 dB/100 ft. Losses at 1.8 MHz are virtually insignificant over several hundreds of feet of this coaxial cable. It can be used for low band receive antennas and arrays without the complications of using a preamp at the antenna.
