DX Engineering Ferrite

DX Engineering Ferrites are partially magnetic metal and ceramic mixes available in a variety of forms, including toroid core, bead type and plastic-covered split-bead ferrite called snap-beads. They are used in a myriad of RF suppression applications to mitigate RFI (radio frequency interference) as well as to reduce pulse and other types of RF noise interference. Special ferrites are used for experimentation and electronic circuit building and for making transformers, RF chokes and antenna baluns. The variations of magnetic and non-magnetic metals and non-metal ceramics used to make ferrites are called "Mixes" and each has different radio frequency properties or ranges. Therefore, different mix number ferrites are typically used for different applications within those ranges, determined by decades of experiments by engineers and applications by hams. Each Mix has been assigned a color code to help identify the ferrite, so numerical labeling is not used on the metal. Color coded ferrite can be identified long after the numbered package is discarded or has disintegrated with time. How do they work? Simply use snap-on beads on a cable or wire. An even more effective choke takes a few to several turns of a wire or cable through and around a ferrite snap-on bead or toroid core. This mitigates RFI to, or from, the connected RF noise producing or noise affected electronic device. The results can be very surprising. Solving noise and RFI can be frustrating. Due to the nature of RF and noise interference suppression; the techniques of appropriate use of ferrites can take a bit of trial and error, but are often the best solution for a difficult problem. Use DX Engineering Ferrite for an incredible range of electronic circuits, noise abatement and RF suppression projects. The details of DX Engineering Ferrite mixes and types appear in each product description. Sizes and applications are discussed in "More Details" and in the literature available at the "Documentation" tab of each of these products.

DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters

DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters are very effective EMI Suppressors that are quickly and easily connected inline on Cat5e or Cat6 network cables. Their patented* design provides common mode RF interference and EMI noise filtering of radio frequencies from well below 1 MHz to 100 MHz and beyond. DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters have no effect on throughput; Ethernet data signal levels and speed remain unchanged. *US Patent No. 11,211,679 B2 Electromagnetic interference (EMI), also known as RF interference (RFI), can be imposed onto your received radio and data signals from many electronic devices normally found around a residence, a radio room or a business network. Areas of major concern are the Gigabit Ethernet Cat5(e) and Cat6 cables used for network (LAN) connections between personal computers, printers, multi-port switches, cable modems, routers and radio transceivers, and between many other devices. DX Engineering ISO-PLUS RF filters, installed on both ends of Ethernet cables, work two ways. First, they can mitigate RF interference caused to the Ethernet connected device. Second, they can reduce interference to radio receivers and other Ethernet devices that is caused by RFI or EMI generated by an Ethernet connected device. ISO-PLUS filters are sold in pairs and are normally installed at each end of an Ethernet cable; one filter at the RJ-45 Ethernet plug of the first device and the other filter at the RJ-45 Ethernet plug of the second device. Each ISO-Plus comes with one six inch shielded RJ-45 patch cable (color may vary). They are designed to be installed in pairs; offered in a 2 filter package DXE-ISO-PLUS-2 or a 10 filter package DXE-ISO-PLUS-10. Click "More Details" below for additional information. DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters are an important tool to improve productivity and radio reception of weak signals. "If you can't hear them, you can't work them." DX Engineering Logo UltrAtomic® Wall Clocks

DX Engineering Logo UltrAtomic® Wall Clocks feature dramatically improved reception and reliability, to automatically set and keep time, even at daylight saving time changes. Excellent readability and attractive styling make this special DX Engineering 14 inch analog clock a great addition to any Amateur Radio station, office complex, school or home. The UltrAtomic receives the enhanced phase modulated WWVB broadcast signal introduced by NIST in 2012. This advanced technology allows the radio time signal to "break through" barriers like cement walls, unlike previous PWM only Atomic clocks. This is the DX Engineering version of the La Crosse Technology wall clock that was the first on the market to be based on this enhanced broadcast, offering unparalleled reception. UltrAtomic clocks operate even in the harshest conditions, where the signal-to-noise ratio interferes with radio-controlled clock reception using the legacy AM signal broadcast. UltrAtomic technology digitally processes the received signal via an integrated circuit within the clock. It leverages the advanced modulation scheme and new data encoding. The reception reliability of the technology has been validated in the most challenging locations and scenarios and has been demonstrated successfully throughout all of North America. UltrAtomic clocks allow you to select any time zone with a custom setting, especially UTC/GMT. Now you can enjoy UltrAtomic accuracy, while viewing any time zone around the world. The phase modulated WWVB broadcast provided by the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) includes a notification for the daylight savings time transitions well ahead of when they are to occur. The UltrAtomic clock reads and stores this information and, at the appropriate instance, automatically advances the hands one hour in the spring and eleven hours in the fall (to move back one hour), even if the signal is not received on the day of the transition. * UltrAtomic time with manual set option * Barrier-resistant signal reception with dual antenna that is insensitive to orientation * Adjustable time and zone (24 hour World Time) from UTC+0h to -11h * Eco Mode extends battery life--turns second hand off from 11 pm to 5 am * Q-Mode (Quartz Mode) for manual time setting * Automatically updates for daylight saving time (with DST On/Off option) * 14 in. stainless steel frame bezel * Glass lens * Black metal hands and black numerals on white background * Low battery detection indicator--second hand stops at 6 * Powered by 2 or 4 high-quality "C" LR14 batteries (not included) for up to 3 or 6 years of operation in Eco Mode

DX Engineering Time Variable Sequencer Units

DX Engineering Time Variable Sequencer Units are microprocessor-based transmit/receive control signal-delay units. They can provide 0-30 milliseconds of delay, programmable in 2 milliseconds increments, to as many as five different outputs tied to your CW keying or push-to-talk (PTT) lines. By controlling the receive-to-transmit (and back) timing of linear amplifiers, and other sensitive equipment, damage caused by improper switch timing may be avoided. These DX Engineering TVSUs improve CW performance by eliminating the annoying leading-edge chopping or truncating of Morse characters, especially important in contests or pileups, where sending accuracy is critical. Now RoHS-compliant, they may also control external devices, such as preamps, active antennas, or external relays that need to have power removed during transmit. Separate power-in and power-out jacks on the front panel are used to control external power. Two 2.1mm power plugs and two 3.5mm stereo plugs are provided. Additional TVSU features include: * Control timing of PTT turn-on, hang delay of PTT, amplifier hang delay, external antenna relay hang delay, and turn-on delay of auxiliary output * Dip switch settable delays of 0-30ms in 2ms increments * Side tone generator that follows input of keyer or hand key, not transmitter * Side tone pitch can be programmed from 300 to 1,000 Hz in 50 Hz steps * Front panel headphone jack with adjustable volume * Supports CW full break-in * Can control external power to DX Engineering active receive antennas and thereby permit operation in closer proximity to transmit antennas Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. To make sure that all of your equipment keeps safely in step, use one of these DX Engineering Time Variable Sequencer Units!

DX Engineering Iron Powder Cores

DX Engineering Iron Powder Cores are used by electronics designers and radio hobbyists to build cost effective RF inductors, for MF to UHF circuit board applications, as well as for RF suppression. Iron powder cores are typically made in smaller toroid form and are used to build special inductors used in critical receiving circuits and low power electronic filter applications. They are not used in baluns as they have much lower RF power handling capabilities than ferrite toroids. However, with lower permeability, iron powder inductor cores work much better than ferrite in high temperatures environments, inside hot equipment. Plus, inductors wound on iron powder cores produce less electro-magnetic interference to adjacent circuits. Therefore, they are often used in devices subject to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing. DX Engineering Iron Powder Cores are available in popular material numbers and sizes.
