DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts

The use of DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts could protect your tower, antennas and station equipment from disastrous lightning damage. DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts are 1/8 in. heavy-duty stainless steel clamps that will long outlast your steel tower. Their optional bolts (choose DXE-LRMM-FAST by combined mast and lightning rod diameters) are also high-quality stainless steel. Together, they are extremely durable clamps to keep your lightning rod in place. Lightning searches out the path of least resistance to ground. If that path is your tower, rotator and rotor bearings, antennas and coax, or the ground and electrical connections to your rigs, then that's where it will go. Providing a better path (one with very little resistance) is the key to keeping lightning outside the shack and limiting damage. When used with proper tower grounding, a heavy rotor-bearing bypass cable and installed coaxial surge protectors, a lightning rod above your antennas may save the day. Don't ignore proper grounding and lightning protection! Make a list of all the items you need to upgrade your station's lightning defense. Make sure a mast mounted lightning rod and DX Engineering Lightning Rod Mast Mounts are added to your list.

DX Engineering Mastlock Tower Accessory

The DX Engineering Mastlock Tower Accessory is very helpful tool for use on ROHN and Amerite Towers in the 25, 45 and 55 series. Using this hardware combination of DX Engineering V-Bolts and our specially drilled aluminum plate, you'll be able to lock your 2 to 3 in. tower mast into position. This tool keeps the mast slipping downward, allowing rotator removal for service, and it prevents the mast from turning during tower or antenna maintenance. The purchase and use of two DXE-MASTLOCK assemblies is suggested for locking a top-heavy mast into the center of the tower. This is especially helpful for heavily loaded masts that have most of their length above the top of the tower. Without much mast below the top, there is a lot of torque and side force trying to push the mast askew. Two of the DXE-MASTLOCK will keep that mast right in place while work is done on the mast or rotator. This accessory will work on mast tube, as well as flat top towers with thrust bearings—and can prevent accidental damage to the tower and accessories during maintenance. The DXE-MASTLOCK plate is made from 0.250 in. thick 6061-T6 aluminum. It comes with the proven high-quality DX Engineering V-saddle clamps, sized for 2 to 3 in. masts and tower legs from 1.250 to 1.500 in.. NOTE: As with all stainless steel hardware, a good quality anti-seize, such as Jet-Lube SS-30 (part number JTL-12555), must be used to avoid galling. When installing the DXE-MASTLOCK, be sure to tighten all bolts evenly.

DX Engineering Bearing Bypass Cables

DX Engineering Bearing Bypass Cables are heavy-duty cables intended for use with DX Engineering Bearing Bypass Grounding Kits. These cables are exactly the same quality as supplied with our Bearing Bypass kits. They have hundreds of thin copper strands (like welding cable) that ensure maximum flexibility. Our Bearing Bypass cables are size 1 AWG copper. The jacket material is Ethylene-Propylene-Rubber (EPR) insulation; which is both physically tough and UV resistant. Cable length is 10 feet and are supplied with 1/4 and 3/8 in. ring lugs attached. Whether you are replacing your original cable or using one in another application, these DX Engineering Bearing Bypass Cables are delivered ready to go!

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide the appropriate transition from non-metallic to metallic guying cable at the ground end of tower guying systems. Steel Tail Kits are available for Phillystran HPTG-4000I, -6700I and 11200I Guy Lines. What is the function of the steel tail? Here is the recommendation by Phillystran, the manufacturer of HPTG-I High Performance Tower Guy non-metallic guy lines: A steel tail is a length of EHS (Extra High Strength) steel guy line connecting the HPTG-I assemblies to the turnbuckle or guy anchor. The steel tail protects the HPTG-I assemblies from damage due to brush fires, lawn maintenance equipment or vandals. The steel tail length should be sufficient to get the bottom end of the HPTG-I assembly above arm's reach, or above brush tops (if located in a marsh or tall brush area). The HPTG-I should never pass through tree limbs or be allowed to rub against poles or trees. The steel tail allows for easier guy length calculations and serves as a guy tension monitoring point, as well as a safer area to attach guy grips during guy line installation and tensioning. Eliminating the hassle of buying a length of steel cable and obtaining a special tool to cut it, DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide everything needed to isolate your tower's non-metallic guy cable from harm. Three different size kits are available for different tower guying requirements provided by Phillystran guy cables 4000I, 6700I and 11200I. Here are the items included in these innovative Steel Tail kits: - 12 ft. EHS steel guy line, Galvanized, in three kit sizes, 3/16 in., 1/4 in. or 5/16 in. - Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulator, 502 or 504 depending upon kit size - Galvanized Steel Preform Dead End Big-Grips for EHS steel guy line, two per line - Heavy Duty Thimble, galvanized steel, appropriately sized for each kit - Cable Ties, UV protected Black, four, to secure installed Big-Grip ends Note: Phillystran guy line and Preform Dead End Big-Grips for Phillystran are not provided in this kit and must be ordered separately. DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators for the top end of the Steel Tail so that the galvanized steel Big-Grips for the Phillystran and for the EHS Steel Guy Lines do not touching and make RF noise. For three different size Phillystran guy line, HPTG-4000I, -6700I and -11200I, these kits are available exclusively from DX Engineering in 3-packs for each level of tower guying.
