DX Engineering Feedpoint Wire and Connector Assemblies provide a new and unique method of feeding an antenna radiating element. A ring terminal with a 1/4 in. hole is crimped and soldered to a 12 in. long insulated 14 AWG stranded copper wire, complete with weather-protective heat shrink tubing. Then, these feed point wires are terminated to the center pin of an N-type male or UHF male PL-259 with special insulating sleeves and weather-sealing heat shrink. DX Engineering Ferrite
DX Engineering Ferrites are partially magnetic metal and ceramic mixes available in a variety of forms, including toroid core, bead type and plastic-covered split-bead ferrite called snap-beads. They are used in a myriad of RF suppression applications to mitigate RFI (radio frequency interference) as well as to reduce pulse and other types of RF noise interference. Special ferrites are used for experimentation and electronic circuit building and for making transformers, RF chokes and antenna baluns. The variations of magnetic and non-magnetic metals and non-metal ceramics used to make ferrites are called "Mixes" and each has different radio frequency properties or ranges. Therefore, different mix number ferrites are typically used for different applications within those ranges, determined by decades of experiments by engineers and applications by hams. Each Mix has been assigned a color code to help identify the ferrite, so numerical labeling is not used on the metal. Color coded ferrite can be identified long after the numbered package is discarded or has disintegrated with time. How do they work? Simply use snap-on beads on a cable or wire. An even more effective choke takes a few to several turns of a wire or cable through and around a ferrite snap-on bead or toroid core. This mitigates RFI to, or from, the connected RF noise producing or noise affected electronic device. The results can be very surprising. Solving noise and RFI can be frustrating. Due to the nature of RF and noise interference suppression; the techniques of appropriate use of ferrites can take a bit of trial and error, but are often the best solution for a difficult problem. Use DX Engineering Ferrite for an incredible range of electronic circuits, noise abatement and RF suppression projects. DX Engineering Feedpoint Connectors
DX Engineering Feedpoint Connectors provide a direct transition from coaxial cable to feedpoint for Yagi, Loop Fed Arrays (LFA), Rotatable Dipoles and other antennas that do not have a coaxial connector. Three Feedpoint Connector types are available; SO-239 UHF Female, Type-N Female and 7-16 DIN Female. Each Feedpoint Connector (FPC) features silver-soldered solid tinned-copper 12 AWG wire leads to the connector, which is epoxy potted into a plastic housing, 1.573 inch square and 0.787 inch deep, for a weather-sealed direct feedpoint connection. Of course, additional weatherproofing should be applied to the male to female connector junction, as is typically suggested. DX Engineering Feedpoint Connectors' two wire leads are about 4 in. each, for connection to balanced driven elements of beams and rotatable dipoles on which a coaxial connector does not exist. A longer length of wire is easily soldered to these tinned wires, if required, but increasing connection spacing drives up feedpoint impedance and increases the possibility of mismatch. FPCs are ideal for antennas, especially phased antenna pairs or multiples, on which a coaxial cable ferrite RF bead choke is required at the feedpoint, in place of a traditional enclosed balun. DXE-FPC units do not have mounting clamps, straps or holes. They are intended to be supported by the coax cable attachment to the boom or mast and by the connections to the antenna. An appropriate center insulator kit, such as the DXE-UWA-KIT and coaxial cable strain relief, DXE-CSR213-1, can accommodate the use of Feedpoint Connectors SO-239 UHF Female, Type-N and 7-16DIN for specialized and high power wire antennas, also accommodating a ferrite RF Bead Choke on the RG-213U size coax cable, 0.405 in. diameter.

DX Engineering Receive Filters are available individually for use in the NCC-2, RPA-2, RTR-2 or DMC-2 with adapter boards. These filters are also available in sets with mounting fixtures for use in the NCC-1. DX Engineering Receive Filters are numbered for the key Amateur Band on which they function. The Band Pass filter models pass RF only on the numbered band, the High Pass models function on that band and all device frequencies above, and the Low Pass models work on that band and all device frequencies below. DX Engineering Active Receive Vertical Replacement Tubing, model DXE-ARAV-A, is provided for those who might need to replace damaged or lost aluminum tubing for their current model DXE-ARAV4 series Active Receive Vertical antenna. DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits
DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits bring a practical solution to a serious problem when ferrite chokes are placed directly onto the metal boom at the feedpoint of beam antennas. A number of Amateur Radio operators and antenna engineers have known for years about the superior choking function of many ferrite toroids beads placed directly on the coaxial cable, as compared to standard feedpoint baluns. A more recent revelation is that the proximity of ferrite beads on coax taped to the aluminum boom of the antenna drastically reduces their effectiveness. DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits are mounting systems, made of fiberglass or acetyl standoff rods (color varies), PVC carriers and stainless steel hardware, available in four versions. Two sizes of PVC cradle tubes handle two different types of RF bead chokes; 3/4 inch outside diameter (OD) ferrite beads on RG-400 size cable, and 1 inch OD ferrite beads on RG-213 size 0.405 in. coax cable. Each are offered with two different boom size clamps, 2 inch OD and 3 inch OD. Bead Choke Standoff Kits simply hold an RF bead choke and feedline 4 inches away from the metal beam antenna boom (or 4 inches away from the metal mast for a dipole). They maintain the optimal choking performance of ferrite beads on coax. Using DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits, ferrite bead chokes function at peak performance for these key results: • Prevent feedline radiation of RF • Preserve current balance for proper beam antenna pattern • Prevent feedline shield exterior collected noise and signals from entering the antenna and interior of the feedline, resulting in lower noise floor and enhanced reception The absolute superiority of RF chokes made of many beads on the feedline, over the traditional enclosure balun, is becoming better understood in Amateur Radio. They achieve the best possible RF isolation of the feedline from the antenna and provide completely balanced currents at the feedpoint. Plus, they provide quieter reception with reduction of common-mode noise. Keeping Bead RF Chokes away from metal preserves the optimal function of this method of antenna feedpoint current balance and isolation. DX Engineering Aluminum Tubing
DX Engineering High-Strength Aluminum Tubes are ideal for your antenna building projects. It is made available in sizes that fit into and over the next, with close tolerances specifically designed for strength when joined and overlapping only by a few to several inches, to build Yagi, Moxon or vertical antenna elements. NOTE: This tubing is NOT intended for each size to telescope completely into the full length of the next; it cannot be used for telescopic mast building. DX Engineering aluminum tubing is manufactured to very close tolerances. This provides the greatest amount of surface contact between nesting tubes for mechanical and electrical stability. Due to the close tolerance, any burrs, dirt, grit or other foreign material, as well as dents, dings and unseen bending or crushing suffered during shipment will cause binding that prevents this aluminum tubing from fully nesting. 6063-T832 seamless drawn aluminum tubing is available in 3, 6 and 12 ft. lengths. 6063-T832 tubing provides good resistance to general corrosion, including stress corrosion cracking, and an excellent surface appearance. Use a series of 3 ft. lengths to build an element that tapers more quickly for lower wind-resistance applications. Use a series of 6 ft. lengths to make an element that tapers more slowly for greater strength and bandwidth. The 12 ft. lengths are great for HF Yagi construction. Most sizes (except 12 ft.) are available slit on one end for use with DX Engineering stainless steel element clamps. If un-slit ends are required for your applications, merely insert the slit end into the next larger size in the stack and use your own attachment method. 6063-T832 tubing features a 0.058 in. wall thickness and is available in 1/8 in. increments from 3/8 in. to 2-1/8 in. O.D. 3003-H14 drawn aluminum tubing features a 0.035 inch wall thickness and a 1/4 inch outside diameter. Each piece is supplied with non slit ends and is available in both 3 foot and 6 foot lengths, making them ideal for your antenna building projects. If your setup requires maximum strength at very long assembly lengths, then choose DX Engineering 6061-T8 tubing. This heavy-duty version features a 0.120 in. wall thickness and is available in 1/4 in. increments from 1-1/2 in. to 3 in. O.D. Packaged shipments of 6 ft. tubing have oversize shipping fees, regardless of the number of 6 ft. pieces. Therefore, order more 6 ft. pieces to spread oversize fees over more tubing for a more cost effective shipment. Tubing that is 12 ft. long MUST be shipped by truck freight. If you need many pieces of the same size in a 12 ft. tube length, then buying DX Engineering High-Strength Aluminum Tubing Bundles (elsewhere in our catalog) maximizes the economy of scale for your shipping costs.
