There are cases where the phasing controller relay unit must be mounted away from the exact physical center of the array, such as when elevated verticals or elevated vertical dipoles are used. Three-quarter wavelength tuned cables are then required.

Their length differs from a free-space dimension by the velocity factor of the specific cable type. These cables, manufactured to DX Engineering specifications, have a velocity factor of 0.84, providing the maximum physical length to allow for easy burial and routing from the feedpoint of the antenna to the controller relay unit.
