DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters

DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters are very effective EMI Suppressors that are quickly and easily connected inline on Cat5e or Cat6 network cables. Their patented* design provides common mode RF interference and EMI noise filtering of radio frequencies from well below 1 MHz to 100 MHz and beyond. DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters have no effect on throughput; Ethernet data signal levels and speed remain unchanged. *US Patent No. 11,211,679 B2 Electromagnetic interference (EMI), also known as RF interference (RFI), can be imposed onto your received radio and data signals from many electronic devices normally found around a residence, a radio room or a business network. Areas of major concern are the Gigabit Ethernet Cat5(e) and Cat6 cables used for network (LAN) connections between personal computers, printers, multi-port switches, cable modems, routers and radio transceivers, and between many other devices. DX Engineering ISO-PLUS RF filters, installed on both ends of Ethernet cables, work two ways. First, they can mitigate RF interference caused to the Ethernet connected device. Second, they can reduce interference to radio receivers and other Ethernet devices that is caused by RFI or EMI generated by an Ethernet connected device. ISO-PLUS filters are sold in pairs and are normally installed at each end of an Ethernet cable; one filter at the RJ-45 Ethernet plug of the first device and the other filter at the RJ-45 Ethernet plug of the second device. Each ISO-Plus comes with one six inch shielded RJ-45 patch cable (color may vary). They are designed to be installed in pairs; offered in a 2 filter package DXE-ISO-PLUS-2 or a 10 filter package DXE-ISO-PLUS-10. Click "More Details" below for additional information. DX Engineering ISO-PLUS Ethernet RF Filters are an important tool to improve productivity and radio reception of weak signals. "If you can't hear them, you can't work them." DX Engineering LPFC-BNC Low Power Feedline Chokes

DX Engineering LPFC-BNC Low Power Feedline Chokes are intended to be placed in line with coaxial cable fed antennas and equipment used for portable operations, including POTA and SOTA activations. The DXE-LPFC-BNC coax wound toroid achieves an amazing common mode impedance (CMI) curve, with an RF choking capability that far exceeds the CMI of 'a-few-beads-on-coax' product that is offered by other suppliers. Actually, these "Low Power" Feedline Chokes can be used in any station that runs less than 250 watts SSB, 100 watts CW or Digital. ________________________________________ DX Engineering Low Power Feedline Chokes features and benefits: - A unique, lightweight form, with clear heat shrink over the choke* - Light enough to hang inline at the feedpoint of any portable HF antenna. - BNC female connectors for easy connection to portable antennas and gear. - Much higher CMI that other portable, low power chokes, especially across the 40 through 6 meter bands. - Frequency range of 1.8 through 54MHz. - RF Power Handling up to 250 watts PEP SSB, 100 watts CW and Digital (at SWR <2:1). - Recommended for general use to isolate either end of a coaxial cable. * Not intended for permanent outdoor use unless mounted inside a weatherproof enclosure. ________________________________________ These chokes are ideal for use at any HF transceiver or receiver antenna connection, portable, mobile or base. In most cases, DXE-LPFC-BNC prevents RFI, stops stray RF and noise on the feedline from getting into the receiver that would cover up weak signals, and improves efficiency of the antenna system. For any station, including POTA and SOTA, mobile and base, DX Engineering Low Power Feedline Chokes keep the RF controlled.

DX Engineering Ferrite

DX Engineering Ferrites are partially magnetic metal and ceramic mixes available in a variety of forms, including toroid core, bead type and plastic-covered split-bead ferrite called snap-beads. They are used in a myriad of RF suppression applications to mitigate RFI (radio frequency interference) as well as to reduce pulse and other types of RF noise interference. Special ferrites are used for experimentation and electronic circuit building and for making transformers, RF chokes and antenna baluns. The variations of magnetic and non-magnetic metals and non-metal ceramics used to make ferrites are called "Mixes" and each has different radio frequency properties or ranges. Therefore, different mix number ferrites are typically used for different applications within those ranges, determined by decades of experiments by engineers and applications by hams. Each Mix has been assigned a color code to help identify the ferrite, so numerical labeling is not used on the metal. Color coded ferrite can be identified long after the numbered package is discarded or has disintegrated with time. How do they work? Simply use snap-on beads on a cable or wire. An even more effective choke takes a few to several turns of a wire or cable through and around a ferrite snap-on bead or toroid core. This mitigates RFI to, or from, the connected RF noise producing or noise affected electronic device. The results can be very surprising. Solving noise and RFI can be frustrating. Due to the nature of RF and noise interference suppression; the techniques of appropriate use of ferrites can take a bit of trial and error, but are often the best solution for a difficult problem. Use DX Engineering Ferrite for an incredible range of electronic circuits, noise abatement and RF suppression projects. The details of DX Engineering Ferrite mixes and types appear in each product description. Sizes and applications are discussed in "More Details" and in the literature available at the "Documentation" tab of each of these products.

DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits

DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits bring a practical solution to a serious problem when ferrite chokes are placed directly onto the metal boom at the feedpoint of beam antennas. A number of Amateur Radio operators and antenna engineers have known for years about the superior choking function of many ferrite toroids beads placed directly on the coaxial cable, as compared to standard feedpoint baluns. A more recent revelation is that the proximity of ferrite beads on coax taped to the aluminum boom of the antenna drastically reduces their effectiveness. DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits are mounting systems, made of fiberglass or acetyl standoff rods (color varies), PVC carriers and stainless steel hardware, available in four versions. Two sizes of PVC cradle tubes handle two different types of RF bead chokes; 3/4 inch outside diameter (OD) ferrite beads on RG-400 size cable, and 1 inch OD ferrite beads on RG-213 size 0.405 in. coax cable. Each are offered with two different boom size clamps, 2 inch OD and 3 inch OD. Bead Choke Standoff Kits simply hold an RF bead choke and feedline 4 inches away from the metal beam antenna boom (or 4 inches away from the metal mast for a dipole). They maintain the optimal choking performance of ferrite beads on coax. Using DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits, ferrite bead chokes function at peak performance for these key results: • Prevent feedline radiation of RF • Preserve current balance for proper beam antenna pattern • Prevent feedline shield exterior collected noise and signals from entering the antenna and interior of the feedline, resulting in lower noise floor and enhanced reception The absolute superiority of RF chokes made of many beads on the feedline, over the traditional enclosure balun, is becoming better understood in Amateur Radio. They achieve the best possible RF isolation of the feedline from the antenna and provide completely balanced currents at the feedpoint. Plus, they provide quieter reception with reduction of common-mode noise. Keeping Bead RF Chokes away from metal preserves the optimal function of this method of antenna feedpoint current balance and isolation. This mechanical requirement is simple and practical with DX Engineering Bead Choke Standoff Kits.

DX Engineering Clifton Laboratories Z10000 Buffer Amplifiers

DX Engineering Clifton Laboratories Z10000 Buffer Amplifiers may be the products most often requested by radio experimenters and electronics enthusiasts. These are the very popular circuits, designed by Jack Smith, K8ZOA (SK), that are crucial for adding a SDR receiver and panadapter display capabilities to a receiver or transceiver which lacks that feature. The Z10000 Buffer Amplifier's high-input impedance can safely tap the early-stage broadband Intermediate Frequency (IF) signal from inside your radio and feed the buffered and amplified low impedance IF signal to your external SDR receiver. It can then produce a spectrumscope - waterfall display pattern of the receiver signals on a compatible tablet or monitor and PC that is running the appropriate third party SDR software. DX Engineering offers two Clifton Labs Buffer Amplifier Kits to add an IF output SMA connector to the rear panel of your radio: * The DXE-Z10000U-KIT is the Universal Buffer Amplifier Kit that covers 50 kHz to 100 MHz. This kit is designed for those willing to do an internal modification, and will output the IF signal of virtually any receiver or transceiver that has an IF in that range. However, the DXE-Z10000U-KIT can be used as a buffer and low-gain preamp between any low level RF devices that operate in that range. As a buffer, this circuit provides over 90dB of reverse isolation to protect the IF stages of the radio from possible birdies on an SDR receiver input. So, even if your radio has an IF output connector, the DXE-Z10000U-KIT may be used externally, with a user-supplied shielded metal enclosure, to be certain to maintain proper radio operation. * The DXE-Z10000K2-KIT is the Buffer Amplifier Kit specifically tuned to the 4.915 MHz IF signal of the Elecraft K2 transceiver. It offers the same high reverse isolation, plus the added benefit of a tuned IF input with a narrower bandwidth of operation and a potentially a lower noise floor on the output. Both Buffer Amp kits contain the updated, completely assembled and tested DX Engineering Z10000C PC Board with a nominal 6.5 dB gain, retaining all the benefits of the reliable original Z10000B boards. Both kits include our finished printed circuit board, required coaxial cables assemblies with special connectors, insulating materials, and hardware—all for an easier installation than ever before! A third party SDR receiver, software (typically free) and compatible tablet or PC and monitor are required to make use of the IF signal provided by the Z10000 Buffer Amplifier and see the signals that your old radio can hear. Due to the high number of specialized radio installations, no printed instructions are included with these buffer kits. Instructional web links are found on the part detail webpages. Installation web documents and videos are only available online. The legacy that was built by Jack Smith, K8ZOA (SK), with Clifton Laboratories, lives on with select products, exclusively from DX Engineering. NOTE: DX Engineering cannot provide electronic technical support of devices installed in user radios and is not responsible or liable for damages that occur to a user radio due to improper or erroneous techniques during the installation of this product. Unplug all electronic devices when working on them and observe all electrical safety and electrostatic discharge precautions when opening sensitive electronics. Modification of a radio should only be attempted by individuals with advanced experience on electronic circuit repair and operation.

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire is the same wire as used by the most successful contest stations and DX enthusiasts for their ground-mounted vertical antennas. This 16 AWG tinned solid copper wire is an extremely cost effective solution for the high-count, full-size ground radial wire systems that are required for top-performing HF vertical antenna installations. This is especially true for 4-element Four Square Array Systems, 3-element ProStack Arrays, and 2-element Dual Vertical Arrays. Why is this wire the absolute best choice for any ground-mounted vertical antenna? Because, DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire will last much longer in a variety of soil conditions as compared to bare copper, copper coated steel and aluminum wires. Unfortunately, radials deployed with those other wire types actually corrode and degrade rather quickly, but do so slowly enough that the operator may not easily perceive that degradation in terms of antenna system performance. Full radial system integrity is maintained for a much greater number of years with tinned copper wire. Depending upon soil type, installations with DXE-TCRW16 will maintain vertical antenna performance for many, many years… and even decades. DXE-TCRW16 is available in small, easy to handle spools in lengths of 500 feet (DXE-TCRW16-500), 1,000 feet (DXE-TCRW-1000), 2,500 feet (DXE-TCRW16-2500) and 5,000 feet (DXE-TCRW16-5000). NOTE: To prevent accelerated corrosion and the possibility of noise, do not use metal anchor pins (lawn staples) on Tinned Copper Radial Wire. Use only DXE-STPL-100BD Biodegradable Anchor Pins to hold down bare wire radials. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire is the right choice for long lasting top-performance radial systems for your ground-mounted vertical antenna system.

DX Engineering TWIG QRP 4:1 Current Baluns

The DXE-TWIG-4-1C QRP Current Balun is designed to be used as the feedpoint of a very low power (QRP) Off Center Fed dipole (OCF) antenna. Ideal for use during outdoor adventures such as POTA® or SOTATM, or any portable operation. The TWIG-4-1C incorporates a 4:1 transformer to convert the OCF antenna impedance of 200-ohms to the desired 50-ohms to match the coaxial cable feedline. It also has a 1:1 feedline choke, to prevent current imbalance, detuning, and to help prevent the addition of unwanted noise. The connector is a BNC female and mates with the recommended coax and most low power (QRP) transceivers. When properly installed and the element wire is properly tuned, you should not need an external tuner. This reduces the need to bring more equipment than is necessary or a portable operation and provides higher efficiency of your output signal and instant band changes. The antenna shown in this manual was designed and tested using the optional 24 AWG wire such as CEW-VIZ24-YEL100 stranded copper, PVC insulated, high visibility yellow antenna wire. The BNC connectors coax cable is recommended to be at least 25 to 35 feet in length. The antenna can be installed in different configurations of wire lengths for various band selections. For example, a very common TWIG QRP OCF for 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters has one 57 ft. dipole wire and the other wire is 12 ft. See the chart in the Instruction Manual linked below for details. This is a low power (QRP) antenna system balun which handles only 25 Watts on SSB, 10 Watts on CW and 5 Watts on digital mode when antenna SWR less than 2:1, without the use of an antenna tuner.

These advanced plug-in filter module sets offer frequency-specific receive antenna system enhancements for the NCC-1. All filter modules sets are available in matched pairs of low-pass, band-pass and high-pass frequency ranges. Filter cut-off and center frequencies correspond to the major Amateur bands, 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters, with filter module insertion loss of only about 1 dB. Highly regarded by many owners and engineers to be the best receive phasing and noise canceling unit available, the DX Engineering NCC-1 is used extensively by enthusiasts in Amateur Radio DXing, Contesting, AM DXing, and Short-Wave Listening (SWL), and is also used in commercial AM and HF broadcast applications. DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets add a new dimension of functionality to the NCC-1, for advanced directional noise and signal nulling performance, enhanced with specific frequency range operations. By default, NCC-1 filter slots are jumpered to pass all signals. On the NCC-1 front panel, the BAND toggle switch "L" or "H" positions each activate one of two filter pair slots, allowing over 360 degrees of phase rotation in two frequency ranges. The BAND switch "L" position covers from 850 kHz to 8 MHz. The BAND switch "H" position covers from 2 MHz to 15 MHz. Frequencies outside these ranges will have less than 360 degrees of phase rotation. NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets must be placed into the proper BAND filter slots corresponding to desired usage. NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets are pairs of filters (2 of the same type), so both NCC-1 receive antenna inputs "A" and "B" exhibit the same pass-band characteristics. Band-pass, high-pass or low-pass filters are available for users to choose and install into their NCC-1 for their desired application. By reducing or excluding frequency-specific interfering noise and signals, the noise floor of the desired pass-band can be lowered for dramatically improved reception. You can install one set or two sets, depending on your desired filtering. NCC-1 "L" and "H" slots may be populated with pairs of band-pass, high-pass, or low-pass filters to suit the specific signal rejection needs of the discerning operator. As an example, an 80 meter DX enthusiast may elect to install two 80 meter band pass NCC-1 Receive Filters, part number DXE-NCCFL-BPF80M, into their NCC-1 "L" BAND slots. This would dedicate their NCC-1 to 80 meter-only operations. Setting the BAND switch to "L" would dramatically reduce noise and signals from outside the 80 meter band, very effectively excluding interference from nearby AM Broadcast, 160 and 40 meter stations. A much lower noise floor on 80 meters could be achieved for dramatically enhanced reception of weak 80 meter DX signals. An additional pair of filters could be installed into the "H" BAND slots, to enhance reception on the higher HF bands. For example, installing 20 meter high pass filters, part number DXE-NCCFL-HP20M, and switching to BAND H would drastically reduce all received noise and signals from frequencies below 13.70 MHz. With advanced planning of additional filter availability, an NCC-1 owner could even swap different filter sets for optimal operations in different contests or band pursuits. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. All NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets displayed here are also conveniently listed on a single page in the link tab called "Documentation." Order one or two DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets for your unit and enjoy the best possible performance from your NCC-1.

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits

DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide the appropriate transition from non-metallic to metallic guying cable at the ground end of tower guying systems. Steel Tail Kits are available for Phillystran HPTG-4000I, -6700I and 11200I Guy Lines. What is the function of the steel tail? Here is the recommendation by Phillystran, the manufacturer of HPTG-I High Performance Tower Guy non-metallic guy lines: A steel tail is a length of EHS (Extra High Strength) steel guy line connecting the HPTG-I assemblies to the turnbuckle or guy anchor. The steel tail protects the HPTG-I assemblies from damage due to brush fires, lawn maintenance equipment or vandals. The steel tail length should be sufficient to get the bottom end of the HPTG-I assembly above arm's reach, or above brush tops (if located in a marsh or tall brush area). The HPTG-I should never pass through tree limbs or be allowed to rub against poles or trees. The steel tail allows for easier guy length calculations and serves as a guy tension monitoring point, as well as a safer area to attach guy grips during guy line installation and tensioning. Eliminating the hassle of buying a length of steel cable and obtaining a special tool to cut it, DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide everything needed to isolate your tower's non-metallic guy cable from harm. Three different size kits are available for different tower guying requirements provided by Phillystran guy cables 4000I, 6700I and 11200I. Here are the items included in these innovative Steel Tail kits: - 12 ft. EHS steel guy line, Galvanized, in three kit sizes, 3/16 in., 1/4 in. or 5/16 in. - Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulator, 502 or 504 depending upon kit size - Galvanized Steel Preform Dead End Big-Grips for EHS steel guy line, two per line - Heavy Duty Thimble, galvanized steel, appropriately sized for each kit - Cable Ties, UV protected Black, four, to secure installed Big-Grip ends Note: Phillystran guy line and Preform Dead End Big-Grips for Phillystran are not provided in this kit and must be ordered separately. DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide Porcelain Guy Line Strain Insulators for the top end of the Steel Tail so that the galvanized steel Big-Grips for the Phillystran and for the EHS Steel Guy Lines do not touching and make RF noise.
