DX Engineering 4030VA-1 Dual-Band THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas

DX Engineering's Dual-Band THUNDERBOLT® 40/30 Meter Vertical Antennas are high performance dual-band pile-up busters that are tunable to operate with an SWR of 1.5:1 or less across both bands. The maximum power rating ensures solid performance, particularly on CW. Plus, the digital modes are popular on 30 meters. The massive EXTREN® channel insulator supporting the rugged structural grade type 6063-T832 drawn aluminum antenna radiator has over twice the tensile and flexural strength of competitive nylon plastic materials, and they are superior for their RF handling characteristics. Designed with rugged 6063 heat-treated, corrosion-resistant aluminum tubing and stainless steel hardware, these antennas are very durable and attractive. Now, you can have full quarter wave performance on both bands without having to compromise. Of course, another key to performance is a good ground radial system. We recommend 32 radials, 32 ft. long. Fewer radials will work, but with diminished results. These antennas include the antenna element, insulated Extren mounting channel, mounting plate, tilt base, stainless steel hardware, and stainless steel element clamps. See Suggested Parts for additional items that will enhance the performance of your installation. DX Engineering's Dual-Band THUNDERBOLT® 40/30 Meter Vertical Antennas feature: * Full band coverage on 40 and 30 meters with SWR under 1.5:1, with no tuner needed * 40m bandwidth greater than 750 kHz with SWR under 2:1 * Tunable above and below 7 MHz range for MARS and CAP frequencies * Over maximum legal power handling * Optimum 30 ft. overall height * Self-supporting design to withstand 60 mph wind without guying Note: For additional information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab.

DX Engineering 8040 NVIS Antennas

DX Engineering 8040 NVIS Antennas: Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) is a propagation mode which uses high-angle radiation that sends signals almost straight up! They are then reflected back to Earth for very effective short to medium distance communications that works virtually every day and into the evening. NVIS dipoles are almost Omni-directional and their height requirement is for the feedpoint to be at only 15 feet above the ground! These 80 and 40 meter wire antennas work very well with their feedpoint at only 15 feet above the ground, supported by the included mast, or your own non-metallic support. The ropes tied to the wire dipole end-insulators are used as guys for the support mast, and are secured to the ground with four tent pegs. DXE-NVIS-8040S and the DXE-NVIS-8040 antenna kits are complete with everything required; the fiberglass mast (four, 4 ft. sections that extend to 15 ft.), a DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 20 1:1 Balun, model DXE-MC20-1-1T, a balun mounting kit, coax strain relief bracket, antenna wire, insulators, four tent pegs, rope, and a 100 ft. RG-8X coax assembly with PL-259s! The four legs of the antenna, each deployed 90 degrees apart, provide the mast guying. DXE-NVIS-8040SNM and the DXE-NVIS-8040NM antenna kits are exactly the same kits with everything except the 15 ft. fiberglass mast. Use your own non-metallic mast or hang the feedpoint 15 ft. above the ground from the limb of a tree. The DXE-NVIS-8040S and DXE-NVIS-8040SNM are shortened NVIS wire antenna kit version that features loading coils to make the 80 meter dipole legs the same length as the 40 meter dipole legs, 34 ft., so this antenna fits into a square area that is only about 50 ft. by 50 ft. The DXE-NVIS-8040 and DXE-NVIS-8040NM are full size, with 67 ft. wire dipole antenna legs for 80 meters and 34 ft. legs for 40 meters and it fits into a rectangular area approximately 100 ft. by 50 ft. NVIS rarely works at frequencies outside the range of 2 MHz to 10 MHz. The signal must penetrate the D layer of the ionosphere and bounce off the F layer. Signals on frequencies below 2 MHz will not penetrate the D layer; frequencies higher than 10 MHz will not bounce off the F layer at these sharp angles, they penetrate and continue out into space. Regular-height dipoles or vertical antennas have a lower take off angle and your signal may be heard three states away, but not in your own state due to the "skip zone." This skip zone is the area between the maximum ground wave distance and the shortest sky wave distance where no communications are possible. Depending on operating frequencies, antennas, their height above ground and propagation conditions, this skip zone can start at roughly 10 to 20 miles away and extend out to several hundred miles. NVIS mode of operation makes it ideal for in-state and next state communications during disasters or other emergency situations. The military has used NVIS techniques for decades to provide short haul communication with other units on the ground. This is why these antennas are ideal for round-table gatherings with regional ham friends on 40 and 80 meters, day to day and night after night. These antennas are easy to deploy and are great for camping, RVs, QRP, ARES, EMCOMM, State QSO Parties and Parks On The Air (POTA) and any other uses where short range HF operation on 80 or 40 meters is desirable. They are actually pretty stealthy, too! Due to their near vertical radiation, NVIS dipoles are almost Omni-directional. They even have a legal-limit power rating! Remember, Amateur Radio operators look to 80 and 40 meters for short skip NVIS operations. Order DX Engineering 8040 NVIS Antennas and fill in the skip zone!

DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches

DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches are two-radio 8-antenna switches (2x8) designed to switch coaxial lines in medium to high power RF antenna systems. With excellent performance on HF and 6 meters, they are typically used in single operator two-radio (SO2R) or multi-two contesting stations. They offer high levels of port-to-port isolation and reliability, the same as the famous DX Engineering RR8 series single input 8-port remote antenna switches. Manual dual-control operation of the DXE-RR2X8B is possible with two separate 1-of-8 control consoles that send +13.8VDC to the selected port, such as the DXE-EC-8. In this instance, the main transceiver has precedence over the secondary when attempting to use the same antenna port, so manual switching care must be exercised. An alternative first come, first served switching approach is available with the optional DXE-MX2X8 Interface Unit. It accepts BCD signals from two DXE-CC-8A Deluxe Control Consoles, and it locks out the selected port from the other radio, rather than main port precedence. DX Engineering RR2X8B Dual Input Switches may be interfaced with a customer-supplied logical switching unit. A third-party antenna controller with dual 1-of-8 switching may be used directly with the DXE-RR2X8B Switch or with BCD to the DXE-MX2X8 Interface Unit. If the DXE-MM2X8 Interface Unit is not used, the third party unit must provide protection against hot switching and prevent the main or secondary radio ports from attempting to select the same antenna port at any time. DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches feature a custom-made stainless steel chassis and a special RF shielded high impact thermoplastic cover. They have a custom conductive gasket to complete the seal between the cover and stainless steel housing base. Disassembly is not required for control wiring access. DX Engineering RR2X8B switches use removable screw terminals for the control cable plugs. These removable plugs greatly simplify installation by eliminating the need for soldering or opening the enclosure. The internal, covered relays are moisture-resistant, providing many years of exceptional performance. The circuitry of the DXE-RR2X8B switches allows the simultaneous selection of multiple antenna port with the required control signals. They can be used in complex antenna systems including stacked and phased arrays. Also, conventional one-of-eight antenna switching for two separate stations is possible using separate 1-of-8 switching arrangements. For example, the main radio Input "M" may select and be connected to any of the 8 ports while the secondary Radio Input "S" can simultaneously select any of the ports that the main isn't using. The main controller always has precedence over any selection made by the secondary controller, unless the DXE-MX2X8 is employed. Features of DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switches include: * Rugged, attractive, fully shielded weatherproof housing * DX Engineering stainless steel V-clamp included for easy mounting to tower legs or masts from 1-2 in. diameter * Multi-conductor external cable plugs for easy removal, connection and maintenance * Excellent port-to-port Isolation; greater than 70 dB at 30 MHz, worst case; greater than 60 dB up to 60 MHz * High RF tolerant UHF connectors * Enclosed 16 ampere RF relays * Safe 12V DC relay operation * 16 MOVs for surge protection on control lines * 16 RF bypass capacitors Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. Make your SO2R or other multi-radio multi-antenna operations easy with a DX Engineering Dual Input Remote Antenna Switch.

DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Switches

DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Switches are newly designed to combine two identical Yagi or log periodic beams, or three quarter-wave vertical antennas, into a phased array for enhanced operation. There is no need for coaxial delay lines with the DX Engineering PRO-STACK switches. Just connect your antennas to the phasing switch controller with equal-length 50 ohm lines. PRO-STACK switch units are available with high-quality PTFE-silver plated SO-239 (UHF female) connectors. These relay units are 1-of-3 source voltage controlled at 12-15VDC over a four conductor cable. A matching Control Console is available separately or is included in the PRO-STACK System. These phasing switches can be used for any applications that require the following four basic antenna feed selections: both antenna ports in-phase, both antenna ports out-of-phase, antenna port 1 only, and antenna port 2 only. The default is both output ports in-phase. Impedance matching automatically changes when any antenna port is disconnected. Generally, stacked Yagi antennas are separated vertically greater than 1/2-wavelength free space. Since the DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Systems are broadband, they may be easily adapted to larger arrays. For example, four stacked Yagis may be combined by creating two sets of two, and then using a third DX Engineering control console to combine the first two sets. PRO-STACK switches can also be used to feed three quarter wave resonant vertical antennas for a high-gain 4-pattern array. In this arrangement, the center #2 passive element is directly grounded to a good ground radial system at all times, while the end elements #1 and #3 are then fed in various phase relationships by the PRO-STACK. Details are in the complete PRO-STACK PS-2B Instruction Manual linked here in Documentation. Features of the DX Engineering PRO-STACK Broadband Antenna Phasing Switches include these great features: * Power handling up to 5 kW * Broadband coverage on 160-10 meters * High-impact RF shielded weatherproof housing * High-RF tolerant, silver-PTFE SO-239 (UHF female) connectors * Proven DX Engineering RF relays for high performance * Safe 12 VDC relay operation, even on battery or solar power * MOV surge protection on control lines * External, removable control line connector * RoHS-compliant assembly

DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Antenna System Combos

DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Antenna System Combos allow two Beverage antennas to be switched to receive in opposite directions while sharing the same physical space. These exciting new reversible Beverage combos include DX Engineering's superb receive preamp! Dramatically improved weak signal results can be achieved on MW, BCB, 160, 80 and 40 meter bands and shortwave bands with receive-only Beverage wire antennas that are typically 350 to 800 feet long, depending upon the lowest band of interest. DX Engineering Reversible Beverage System Combos are immune to the strong signal overload and core saturation common in multi-transmitter contesting environments. Reversible Beverages have two antenna F connectors; one "Away" port for the default end-fire receiving pattern off the end of the wire, and one "Toward" port for the opposite direction. Applying a negative 10 to 18 V DC to the feedline switches the system between the two antenna ports for reception in opposite directions. You can build a 4-direction receive antenna system with two reversible Beverage systems and one DX Engineering RLS-2 Two-Port Receiving Switch that also requires only one feedline! The optional DX Engineering Feedline Voltage Coupler, model DXE-FVC-1 is highly recommended to provide all of the required feedline voltage injection. Plus, the optional DXE-EC-4 BCD Control Console completes the system for four-direction switching right in the shack. These RBS systems will work with any 300-600 ohm 2-wire line. For best low-loss low-noise results, use DX Engineering flooded or quad-shielded 75-ohm coax; with our F-type compression connectors to ensure a weatherproof installation. DX Engineering RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers use RCA-type phono jacks and CATV Type-F female connectors for the input and output connections to prevent accidental connection to transmitting devices. RPA-1 Receive Preamplifiers feature a built-in relay that automatically bypasses the preamplifier circuit when DC power is removed. These high performance devices must be powered with a well filtered and regulated DC power supply and will offer maximum performance at 12 to 18 V DC input. Details for DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Antenna System Combos: Receive preamp: * Gain: 16 dB, +/- 1.5 dB, from 300 kHz through 35 MHz * Dynamic range (IM3) at 500 Hz BW: 110 dB or greater * Output Third Order Intercept: +43 dBm * Noise figure: 3.5 dB * Compression: 1 dB at +26 dBm (nominally 0.4 W output) * Power requirement: 12-18 V DC at 140 mA maximum * Power Input: 2.1 mm DC coaxial power connector Reversible Beverage transformer features: * Broad operating range, 0.2 to 30 MHz * Fully isolated grounds prevent common-made noise and unwanted signals * 75 ohm design enables the use of high quality, low cost cable and connectors * RF shielded housing used for isolation and improved life * Directional Switching Voltage: nominal 12 V AC or negative 12 V DC, feedline injected * Directional Switching Current: less than 80 mA * Antenna impedance: 300-600 ohm (450 ohm recommended) * Feedline impedance: 50-75 ohm (75 ohm recommended) * RBSA-1FP Feed Point unit dimensions: 5.5 in. width x 3.5 in. depth x 1.5 in. height * RBS-1RT Reflection Transformer unit dimensions: 2.125 in. width x 2.125 in. depth x 1.125 in. height Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information.
