DX Engineering Regular Grade Never-Seez
DX Engineering Regular Grade Never-Seez is an anti-seize and lubricating compound that protects metal parts against rust, corrosion and galling. Anti-seize should be used before parts are assembled to prevent galling (cold welding) and assist in achieving proper hardware torque. It is highly recommended for use on steel, and especially stainless steel, hardware. The patented* DX Engineering Tilt Base Antenna Mounting Systems enable an operator to raise or lower an antenna in seconds, while leaving the base of the antenna securely attached to the mounting plate and post. DX Engineering Tilt Bases make it easy to tune your vertical, repair, or simply lower your antenna to a safe horizontal position long before bad weather hits. One person can install, raise and lower, and service their vertical antenna with our stainless steel Tilt Base; just walk it up or down. The Tilt Base prevents potential accidents when climbing a step ladder to tune the antenna, especially on soft ground. DX Engineering Ladder Line Surge Protector
Built by popular demand, the DX Engineering Ladder Line Surge Protector is ready to be placed in line with your balanced feedline antenna system! For many years, hams have asked us for a surge protector for use with their 300 ohm and 450 ohm ladder line fed antennas. Decades ago automotive spark plugs or arc gaps were used for shunting lightning pulses from balanced feeders to ground. But, you never really knew if they were going to work, if they really were continuing to work or if they were affecting the tuning. Here is the modern approach to providing surge protection for ladder line fed antennas. Made with components similar to those used in coaxial protectors, the DXE-LLSP uses much larger capacitors, resistors and gas discharge tubes on each leg of the ladder line to offer excellent surge protection capabilities at high SWR. These components are rated to handle 5 kW, so this protector will easily handle well over legal limit RF power at the high standing wave ratios expected on balanced line. Plus, the Ladder Line Surge Protector bleeds off the static charge that is collected on your antenna from wind driven sand, rain and snow! The DXE-LLSP Ladder Line Surge Protector is built to sustain multiple minor surges. As with any surge protector, there is no guarantee that a direct hit from lightning will be stopped. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits
Some vertical antenna manufacturers indicate that their antennas do not need guying. During times of high winds or ice loading, however, some of these vertical antennas may sustain damage or fail altogether. With the small amount of effort needed to install one of these DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits, the risk hardly seems worth taking. They feature a 4-point guying scheme that provides the best mechanical advantage to prevent wind stress, regardless of direction. The guying is intended for stability only and should never be depended on for primary support. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits are especially recommended for use with DX Engineering tilt bases, because just one of the guy ropes has to be loosened when you tilt the vertical down. The remaining guys help to stabilize the vertical in three directions when being raised. These kits have been designed to be used with ground-mounted quarter-wavelength vertical antennas, such as DX Engineering monoband and multiband verticals and the Hustler 4, 5, and 6-BTV models. Using the DX Engineering vertical antenna guying kits, you can install four guy ropes approximately halfway up the vertical antenna system to ground level and angled at approximately 45 degrees. Guying should be tightened just enough to permit the antenna to swing a few inches. The ends of the ropes are tied to the earth anchors that are screwed into the ground at about the same angle as the ropes. Tie the other ends of the ropes to the vertical antenna just above one of the antenna element clamps or traps (a guying ring is not required). DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits
DX Engineering Phillystran Steel Tail Kits provide the appropriate transition from non-metallic to metallic guying cable at the ground end of tower guying systems. Steel Tail Kits are available for Phillystran HPTG-4000I, -6700I and 11200I Guy Lines. What is the function of the steel tail? Here is the recommendation by Phillystran, the manufacturer of HPTG-I High Performance Tower Guy non-metallic guy lines: A steel tail is a length of EHS (Extra High Strength) steel guy line connecting the HPTG-I assemblies to the turnbuckle or guy anchor. The steel tail protects the HPTG-I assemblies from damage due to brush fires, lawn maintenance equipment or vandals. The steel tail length should be sufficient to get the bottom end of the HPTG-I assembly above arm's reach, or above brush tops (if located in a marsh or tall brush area). The HPTG-I should never pass through tree limbs or be allowed to rub against poles or trees. The steel tail allows for easier guy length calculations and serves as a guy tension monitoring point, as well as a safer area to attach guy grips during guy line installation and tensioning. DX Engineering TWIG QRP 9:1 UNUNs
The DXE-TWIG-9-1 QRP UNUN (Unbalanced-to-Unbalanced transformer) matches a high-impedance, non-resonant end-fed/random wire antenna (33 to 84 feet long) to the 50-ohm unbalanced load required by amateur radio transceivers. The DXE TWIG-9-1 covers 1.8–30 MHz and is ideal for portable (QRP) or HOA-restricted antennas. The connector on the DXE-TWIG-9-1 is a BNC female to mate with the recommended 35 to 50 feet of coax cable, which is used as the counterpoise. In some cases, an external wide range tuner may be needed. This UNUN may not provide a perfect 1:1 SWR on all bands without an additional tuner and may experience heating at higher power due to impedance mismatches. Typically, 9:1 UNUNs are used for: • Random Wire Antenna: Long wires of specific non-resonant lengths (e.g., 29, 35.5, 41, or 71 feet) designed to avoid an electrical half-wave, or multiple of a half-wave, on any amateur band. • End-Fed Long Wire: General-purpose long wire used for wideband receiving or multiband transmitting where an antenna tuner is available. • Inverted "L" or Sloper Configuration: When these are fed as non-resonant wires rather than resonant half-wave radiators. Tips on How to Use the 9:1 QRP UNUN as a Random Wire Antenna 1. Select a "Random" Length: Do not use resonant half-wave lengths. Popular lengths that avoid resonance on amateur bands include e.g., 29, 35.5, 41, or 71 feet. 2. Connect the Antenna Wire: Attach your long wire to the element wire terminal of the UNUN. 3. Use an Antenna Tuner: Because a random wire is never perfectly resonant, you may have to use an internal or external antenna tuner to achieve a low SWR for your transceiver. 4. Placement: Mount the UNUN near the ground or on a short support and run the element wire as high and clear of obstacles as possible. The antenna shown in this manual was tested using the optional 24 or 26 AWG wire such as CEW-VIZ24-YEL100 stranded copper, PVC insulated, high visibility yellow antenna wire. The coax cable (with BNC connectors) is recommended to be 35 to 50 feet in length since the coaxial cable shield is used as the counterpoise. The antenna can be installed in different configurations. Wire lengths will vary depending on the installation and antenna design chosen. This is a low power (QRP) antenna system impedance matching UNUN which handles 25 Watts on SSB, 10 Watts on CW and 5 Watts on digital mode when the antenna SWR is less than 2:1 without the use of an antenna tuner.

DX Engineering Ladder Line Surge Protector Replacement Parts Kit, DXE-LLSP-RP, is a kit to use if your DXE-LLSP should ever be damaged. In some locations with lots of lightning, or wind driven static charge buildup, a spare protector or this replacement parts kit is a smart investment. In a few locations you may never need one of these kits. But, here are the parts to rebuild the DXE-LLSP should the need ever arise. These are exactly the same components used in the DXE-LLSP. Along with a replacement PC board, the capacitors, resistors and gas discharge tubes provided are larger than those used in coaxial units. These components are rated to handle 5 kW, so the DXE-LLSP easily handles well over legal limit RF power at the high standing wave ratios expected on balanced line. DX Engineering Three Coax Tower Grounding Brackets DXE-3CTGB-2 provide secure bonding points and standoffs for cable shields and connectors on tower installations. They are designed to help bond cable shields to the tower at the top, bottom, and every 75 feet on taller towers. Regular bonding helps keep the cable shield and tower leg at a similar electrical potential, creating a controlled conductive path. This can reduce the risk of cable jacket damage caused by high-energy pulses from a charged tower or nearby lightning. Without proper bonding, energy may arc through the cable jacket and create pinhole damage. DX Engineering RT4500HD Rotator Control Extension Cables
DX Engineering RT4500HD Rotator Control Extension Cables are premium pre-assembled cables with the appropriate 4-pin mating connectors installed for the DX Engineering RT4500HD Rotator. They eliminate the time-consuming task of soldering two additional optional connectors onto a long control cable. Designed for durability, these 4-conductor cable assemblies are rugged, yet flexible and are built to last with heavy duty stranded copper conductors and industry leading direct-bury polyethylene (PE) black jacket that is impervious to water and highly resistant to sunlight UV. Two 12AWG wires are for DC supply to the rotator motor and two 18AWG wires are for the rotator Pulse Sensor. One end of the cable features an interlocking weather-sealed 4-pin DXE-LP20-F female connector that mates with the RT4500HD rotator pigtail male connector. The 4-pin DXE-LP20-M cable mount male connector on the opposite end of this extension cable is intended to be connected to the controller pigtail. The DXE-LP20-F Rotator Control Line cable-mount female connector supplied with the RT4500HD, along with any convenient length of DXE-CW1812OR Heavy-Duty Spec Rotator Cable (sold separately), can be used to make a permanent pigtail with appropriate ring terminals for the screw terminal connections on the rotator controller. The use of the pigtail and this Rotator Control Extension Cable with mating connectors supports easy disconnection of the controller for additional surge protection and for simplified equipment repositioning.
