DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets

DX Engineering announces a series of NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets, a breakthrough option for owners of the NCC-1 Receive Antenna Phasing Unit. These advanced plug-in filter module sets offer frequency-specific receive antenna system enhancements for the NCC-1. All filter modules sets are available in matched pairs of low-pass, band-pass and high-pass frequency ranges. Filter cut-off and center frequencies correspond to the major Amateur bands, 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters, with filter module insertion loss of only about 1 dB. Highly regarded by many owners and engineers to be the best receive phasing and noise canceling unit available, the DX Engineering NCC-1 is used extensively by enthusiasts in Amateur Radio DXing, Contesting, AM DXing, and Short-Wave Listening (SWL), and is also used in commercial AM and HF broadcast applications. DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets add a new dimension of functionality to the NCC-1, for advanced directional noise and signal nulling performance, enhanced with specific frequency range operations. By default, NCC-1 filter slots are jumpered to pass all signals. On the NCC-1 front panel, the BAND toggle switch "L" or "H" positions each activate one of two filter pair slots, allowing over 360 degrees of phase rotation in two frequency ranges. The BAND switch "L" position covers from 850 kHz to 8 MHz. The BAND switch "H" position covers from 2 MHz to 15 MHz. Frequencies outside these ranges will have less than 360 degrees of phase rotation. NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets must be placed into the proper BAND filter slots corresponding to desired usage. NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets are pairs of filters (2 of the same type), so both NCC-1 receive antenna inputs "A" and "B" exhibit the same pass-band characteristics. Band-pass, high-pass or low-pass filters are available for users to choose and install into their NCC-1 for their desired application. By reducing or excluding frequency-specific interfering noise and signals, the noise floor of the desired pass-band can be lowered for dramatically improved reception. You can install one set or two sets, depending on your desired filtering. NCC-1 "L" and "H" slots may be populated with pairs of band-pass, high-pass, or low-pass filters to suit the specific signal rejection needs of the discerning operator. As an example, an 80 meter DX enthusiast may elect to install two 80 meter band pass NCC-1 Receive Filters, part number DXE-NCCFL-BPF80M, into their NCC-1 "L" BAND slots. This would dedicate their NCC-1 to 80 meter-only operations. Setting the BAND switch to "L" would dramatically reduce noise and signals from outside the 80 meter band, very effectively excluding interference from nearby AM Broadcast, 160 and 40 meter stations. A much lower noise floor on 80 meters could be achieved for dramatically enhanced reception of weak 80 meter DX signals. An additional pair of filters could be installed into the "H" BAND slots, to enhance reception on the higher HF bands. For example, installing 20 meter high pass filters, part number DXE-NCCFL-HP20M, and switching to BAND H would drastically reduce all received noise and signals from frequencies below 13.70 MHz. With advanced planning of additional filter availability, an NCC-1 owner could even swap different filter sets for optimal operations in different contests or band pursuits. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. All NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets displayed here are also conveniently listed on a single page in the link tab called "Documentation." Order one or two DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets for your unit and enjoy the best possible performance from your NCC-1.

DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Filter Sets

DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Filter Sets provide an added dimension to the receive capabilities of the NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing System. These advanced plug-in filter module and adapter board pairs offer frequency-specific receive enhancements. The packages are available in pairs of high pass, band pass, and low pass frequency ranges with filter cut-off and center frequencies that correspond to the major Amateur low bands, 160, 80, 40 meters. Filter insertion loss is only about 1 dB. NCC-2 Receive Filter Sets are pairs of the original NCC-1 filters of the same type, each with the required RXFL-1 Filter Adapter. Both NCC-2 channels, "CH A RX ANT IN" and "CH B RX ANT IN" will benefit from the same pass-band characteristics. High pass, band pass, or low pass filter sets are available for users to choose and install into their NCC-2 for their desired application. By reducing or excluding frequency-specific interfering noise and signals, the noise floor of the desired passband can be dramatically lowered for greatly improved reception. Be aware that when filter pairs are installed, the NCC-2 no longer responds to signals out of the passband. In other words, at this time there is no electronically switched bypass for installed filters. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. The NCC-2 Receive Filters displayed here, and higher frequency band filters, are also available as single filters for the NCC-2, to create alternative wide-pass filter sets, and for DX Engineering single channel accessories, including the DXE-RPA-2, DXE-DMC-2 and the DXE RTR-2. The simplest way to filter your NCC-2 is to order one of these DX Engineering Receive Filter Sets for your unit and enjoy the best possible filtered performance from your DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing System.

DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems

Imagine adjusting the controls to knock out strong interfering stations or noise—and then being able to copy and log that weak DX station. By successfully combining the right antennas with the advanced phasing capabilities of the NCC-2, this is the operating thrill that every radio enthusiast can enjoy, again and again! DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems are variable phasing controllers that combine the 300 kHz- 30MHz received signals from one transmit antenna and one receive antenna, or from two dedicated receive antennas. Combining signals from two stationary antennas physically spaced 1/10 to 1/2 wavelength apart creates an array pattern with signal peaks and dips called nulls. Adjusting the NCC-2 Phase and Balance controls have the effect of electronically rotating or steering that pattern. Steering the null direction to significantly weaken a local or distant interfering signal or noise is known as "Noise Cancelling." This "Noise Cancelling Controller" (NCC-2) can dramatically enhance the reception of weak signals from non-null directions. This "reverse-beam" capability on radio frequencies AM Broadcast through HF can provide amazing benefits for many types of AM DX and SWL receiving and ham radio operating. Work new DX, hear the weak station in casual regional conversations, snag the rare multiplier in contests and hear beyond the noise and interference in dire circumstances. DX Engineering NCC-2 Phasing Systems now feature the built-in RTR Receive-Transmit Interface relay system that expands the exciting benefits of antenna phasing for interference reduction in two ways: * First, the NCC-2 can combine signals from the HF transmit antenna and a separate receive antenna to effectively notch-out strong stations or noise. Almost any Amateur can now enjoy the benefits of antenna phasing and noise-nulling, even those with space limitations for separating the receiving and transmitting antennas. * Second, the user of any standard HF transceiver that lacks a separate receive antenna input can have enhanced reception of noise and signal nulling with the DXE-NCC-2 and two antennas. Rear panel SO-239, F and BNC connectors make the NCC-2 extremely versatile and easy to connect to almost any receiver or HF transceiver up to 200 watts. Redesigned with plug-in modular circuit board sockets, the NCC-2 includes one switched and powered internal slot and two passive internal slots per channel to accommodate these new options: * DXE-RPA-2-PM Receive Preamplifier Plug-In Modules (powered): one per channel for low-signal passive antennas with poor ground conditions * DXE-RG5000HD-PM Receiver Guard 5000HD Plug-In Module (passive): Front-end protection for the NCC-2 and the receiver * DXE-IT-PM 75 to 50 ohm Impedance Transformer Plug-In Module (passive): to match 75 ohm RX ANT feedlines to NCC-2 50 ohm internal impedance * NCC-2 Receive Filter Sets (passive, non-switchable): High Pass, Band Pass and Low Pass Filters for 160, 80, 40 meters typically in stock, with other band filters available individually by special order. DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems offer these new additional benefits: * Multi-Color Status Indicating LEDs for Power, RTR Mode and Preamp Power CH A and CH B * New Radio Key Line Input with RX Enable Output-RTR Failsafe to prevent RF damage to NCC-2 and RX equipment * New ACC Key Line Output RCA female 'ground on transmit' pass-through for Amplifier or Accessory * New screw-on 2.1mm DC connector to prevent accidental power cable pull-out * Operates on +13.8VDC @ 2A input to power the NCC-2 and internally jumper set Bias Tee on each RX ANT ports for coax fed Active Verticals and other accessories. DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas

DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas (the RSEAV Antennas) offer excellent low noise radio frequency reception from 40 kHz to 30 MHz. Better receiving performance than full-size transmit antennas and other active makes the DXE-RSEAV-1 the best choice on the market for VLF through HF reception, including long-distance AM broadcast, Medium Wave and Shortwave (SWL), and new low-frequency Amateur bands, DXing, contesting, and everyday HF operations. Click on a listed product title and Scroll Down to see additional important information. A complete product description appears below the Specifications Overview. Instruction manual links appear in the Documentation section. The sleek and stealthy DXE-RSEAV-1 includes a high-quality three-section 8.5 ft. (2.6m) aluminum tubing whip, insulated mounting plate and the completely new DXE-AVA-3 Active Matching Unit. Its state-of-the-art broadband operational amplifier design works as a high-impedance buffer between the short antenna element and RG6U 75-ohm coax. When installed in the appropriate location, RSEAV antennas provide significantly better weak signal reception than other active receive antennas and full-size transmit-capable antennas, with substantially reduced noise and lower spurious signal interference. Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas are intended to be mounted on a ground rod at ground level in a clear area away from all metal, towers and other antennas. They are sold individually (DXE-RSEAV-1), or with a bias tee (DXE-RSEAV-1FVI) and DXE-RSEAV-1 Receive Short Element Active Verticals set a new standard for "Active Receive Vertical Antennas" replacing legacy DXE-ARAV-3, ARAV-2, ARAV-1 and AL-24 versions. Use multiple DXE-RSEAV-1 for all 4 and 8 element DX Engineering Receive Arrays – all 3, 4 and 8 element Hi-Z Antennas Arrays – and 2 element receive arrays with DXE-NCC-2 and NCC-1 Variable Phasing Controllers. The DXE-RSEAV-1 is designed to be a very low-gain, low-noise antenna for greatly improved signal-to-noise performance over a very wide range of frequencies. In a proper single or multi-element array installation, this Receive Vertical antenna will attenuate high-angle skywave signals, which is the goal for a low band DXing receive antenna. Low-angle, long-range DX signals are easier to copy with a good radio and DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas. Please Note: To achieve the expected reception pattern, multi-element phased arrays depend upon identical gain and phase response from each element. Every individual element amplifier, its grounding, and even its feedline characteristics and length, must be identical to the others in the array. Therefore, when unrepairable failures occur, it is essential to replace or upgrade all the elements in the array with identical, fully compatible DXE-RSEAV-1 antennas or DXE-AVA-3 units.

DX Engineering Transmit Receive Interrupter Plug-In Module

DX Engineering Transmit Receive Interrupter Plug-In Module, DXE-TRI-PM, provides essential protection from the station's transmitted energy picked up by a receive antenna that is connected to the DXE-NCC-2 Channel B Receive Antenna Input active front end. This optional custom PCB relay switch device is typically installed in the top Option Slot of the Channel B rear panel board in the NCC-2. When the transceiver keys the RADIO PTT port of the NCC-2, the DXE-TRI-PM can open or ground the receive antenna input and the board output, as selected by jumpers. It functions independently and does not affect or depend on the settings of the NCC-2 Bias-Tee Enable circuit that places DC on the receive antenna feedline for Active antennas. The DXE-TRI-PM is only in the path of the receive antenna input. It also features a Gas Discharge Tube to protect the front end of the NCC-2 while in the receive mode. Adding a second DXE-TRI-PM Transmit Receive Interrupter Plug-In Module to the the top slot of the NCC-2 Channel A rear panel board is recommended. The gas tube provides pulse energy protection during receive and disconnect or grounding protection when the CH A RX ANT IN port is used for a receive antenna that is physically too close to the transmit antenna. Adding a DXE-TRI-PM can provide input protection for the RTR-2 RX ANT IN during receive and by grounding the receive antenna input during transmissions. Alternatively, the DXE-TRI-PM installed in the DXE-DMC-2 Dual Module Chassis can interrupt or ground any receive antenna feedline or a receiver input. Jumper settings select opening or grounding of the receive antenna input and receiver output. This receive feedline RF switch is operated by toggling 13.8 VDC, on for Receive and off when Transmitting. The DMC-2 PCB jumper HD5 selects operating DC from either the 2.1mm power connector or the "Receiver Output" coaxial cable with a user supplied DC Bias-Tee device, such as the DXE-FVI-1 Feedline Voltage Injector. Remote outdoor installation requires a weather resistant cover.

DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables

DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables connect the "ground on transmit" or contact closure provided by the radio that is required to make an HF amplifier switch from "receive mode" to "transmit and amplify mode" when using PTT (push-to-talk), VOX or break-in CW keying. DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables are made for specific transceiver models that have special DIN or mini-DIN connector accessory ports which provide the transceiver's only connections for linear amplifier keying. One type of amplifier keying cable has one RCA phono plug for the amplifier relay jack, which is all that is needed. When the transceiver PTT (push-to-talk) is keyed, the RCA plug center pin is connected to the shield (and chassis ground in most cases) to key the amp relay or its solid state keying circuit. Instead of a direct connection to the amp relay, the RCA plug may be connected to the keying input of an accessory device (DXE-KEYLINE-3, DXE-RTR-2 or DXE-NCC-2), amplifier keying interface (DXE-SV-KR or legacy Ameritron ARB-704 or KD9SV Products SV-KR) or other amp keying line interrupt device, such as a meter or an array controller. Each has a keying input and a keying output for the amplifier relay or another accessory. Another type of amplifier keying cable has two RCA phono plugs, one RED plug for the amplifier relay jack and one WHITE plug for ALC (Automatic Level Control) voltage from the amplifier. The legacy ALC connection does not need to be used with present era solid state transceivers and most modern amplifiers. ALC was required for use on transmitters with tube finals. Some modern amplifiers do not have an ALC output connector. If the amplifier does not have ALC it is okay to leave the WHITE plug disconnected. Order your DX Engineering Transceiver Amplifier Keying Cables to connect to your transceiver accessory port for keying amplifiers, sequencers, receive-transmit interfaces, buffer relays, and other accessories. NOTE: To enable the function of this keying cable, some late model Kenwood transceivers require menu activation of the amplifier keying circuit.
