InnovAntennas OP-DES 50 MHz Yagi Antennas
InnovAntennas OP-DES 50 MHz Yagi Antennas are a relatively new development from InnovAntennas. OP-DES stands for Opposing Phase Driven Element System, in which the ends of the dipole radiator of these antennas is angled backwards towards the reflector, parallel to the boom. This results in opposing phase relationships in the ends of the driven element, providing a very clean directional pattern with few side lobes. The OP-DES Yagi has optimized gain over a wide frequency range, while retaining a good front-to-back ratio. The driven element dipole of an OP-DES antenna has a low impedance of 50 ohms. This eliminates the need for matching elements or a transformer balun. For this reason, the antenna is offered without a balun, but an RF choke balun made of ferrites on coax should be used at the feedpoint terminal studs. With the coaxial cable directly connected to the driven element dipole, well over full legal limit power levels are possible. Like all InnovAntennas Yagis, the OP-DES 50MHz antennas are extremely robustly constructed; the larger model uses truss cables for the boom. All elements of the antenna use high quality aluminum, the clamps and screws are made of stainless steel. The supplied mast clamp is designed for masts up to 2 in. (50mm) diameter. Application Description Monoband Yagis are often used at contest stations, or when you want to use only one band for a certain time, for example to focus on a specific target during sunspot minimum. Another advantage of monoband antennas are the stacking possibilities, i.e. the arrangement of two or more identical antennas properly spaced from each other. InnovAntennas Yagis provide all the necessary technical specifications, so there is no guesswork about the stack spacing. The InnovAntennas OP-DES 50 MHz Yagis are designed through careful numerical optimizations to provide excellent gain with good bandwidth. As a result, a low SWR of 1.1:1 is achieved in the frequency range of 50.0 - 50.6 MHz (6-element) or 50.0 - 51.35 MHz (5-element). The experience of the developer Justin, G0KSC ensure superior operations with these antennas in practice, often supported by a lively exchange between users. TECHNICAL DATA InnovAntennas OP-DES 50 MHz Yagi (Monoband) Antenna Mast Mount: Center Antenna Type Directional Antenna Band 6m Power Handling: 5000 W Polarization: Horizontal Balun Included: No Mast Diameter Max.: 2.00 in. InnovAntennas DB-664 Compact 6 and 4 Meter Dual Band Yagi has a total of 6 elements; three elements are for 50 MHz and three are for 70 MHz, available on many radios made for the European market. For those in North American, where the 70 MHz band allocation doesn't exist, several late model transceivers, including the Yaesu FTDX10 and the Icom IC-7300, offer receive coverage of the 4-meter band. Even though transmit is disabled in NA, the 70 MHz band may be monitored for signals arriving from Europe, for those interested in VHF propagation. The InnovAntennas DB664 Dual Band Yagi stands apart from the crowd due to the methods used for its design. It has no traps or coils, no phasing arrangements, and has no need for "compromise" spacing between elements. This antenna has a set of correctly spaced elements for each band but requires only one feed point. The DB-644 is an excellent antenna with great SWR bandwidth and performance in one package. Specifications of the InnovAntennas DB664 Compact 6 & 4 Meter Dual Band Yagi: * Gain: 50MHz: 6.83dBi at 50.150MHz (12.44dBi 10 m above ground); 70MHz: 7.05dBi at 70.200MHz (12.76dBi 10 m above ground) * F/B on 50MHz: 10.12dB at 50.150MHz; 70MHz: 18.23dB at 70.200MHz * Power rating: 3kw * SWR: Below 1.3:1 from 50.00MHz to 50.500MHz; Below 1.5:1 from 69.950MHz to 70.600MHz * Boom length: 3.86 ft. (1.175m) * Turning radius: 1.48 ft. (1.484m) * Weight: 4.5 lbs. (2 kg) * Wind loading: 0.63 sq. ft. (0.15 sq. m) * Wind survival: 150 mph (241 kph) The InnovAntennas DB664 antenna has 6-meter element with 1/2 in. (12.7mm) center and 3/8 in. InnovAntennas LFA-Q 4 Element 50 MHz Loop Quad Beams
InnovAntennas LFA-Q 4 Element 50 MHz Loop Quad Beam from G0KSC represents significant development of LFA Yagis with a substantial difference. The LFA-Q (Loop Fed Array Quad) uses top and bottom booms and through-boom LFA Yagi-style loops arranged vertically for every element. This very rugged design achieves better gain for a given length of boom than standard or LFA Yagi. Also, instead of using symmetrical square or triangular loops, the shape of the loops has been compressed into rectangular form, so the short side sections are exactly 180 degrees out of phase resulting in a cancellation effect, like a balanced line. InnovAntenna LFA-Q achieves great rejection to the sides and the rear of the antenna while retaining excellent gain, f/b and SWR bandwidth across the band. These are amazingly compact, high gain antennas constructed to withstand serious weather conditions! The 50MHz 4 Element LFA-Q is made with tapered elements one-half inch (12.7mm) center sections and 3/8 inch (9.525mm) outer sections. The antenna has fully insulated elements which will ensure continuous, high performance for years to come. The LFA-Q has a twin-boom system, 32mm square with 1.6mm wall thickness. Two boom-to-mast brackets are provided, one on each boom, formed from marine grade stainless steel. Both brackets include 2 square U-bolts for the boom and 2 round U-bolts for the supporting mast. InnovAntennas 144 MHz OWL Ultra Yagi Antennas
InnovAntennas 144 MHz OWL Ultra Yagi Antennas offer the 2 meter weak-signal enthusiast undeniable low-noise performance with amazing SWR bandwidth, particularly good gain and an excellent front-to-back ratio. Five Optimized Wideband Low-impedance (OWL) Ultra Yagi antennas are available, starting with six element up through ten element models. InnovAntennas' OWL Ultra Yagi beams have been extensively numerically simulated and optimized using special software that includes a 3D simulation of the boom, the insulators, the connector and the cable; an elaborate numerical simulation of these antennas that was inconceivable a decade before. InnovAntenna has achieved the best of what is technically possible for a wideband 2 meter Yagi. The boom of the 144 MHz OWL Ultra Yagi is 1 in. (25mm) square aluminum featuring through-the-boom insulated elements. The adjustable center fed folded dipole has the side opposite the 50 ohm feedpoint connected to the boom, which removes static charge to protect the transceiver. This antenna acts like a band-pass and noise filter outside the 2 meter band, due to rapidly rising impedance. However, the most important feature of OWL Ultra Yagi antenna is optimization for reduced side lobe in the elevation plane, achieving dramatically reduced received noise, even in high ambient noise city locations. The InnovAntennas OWL Ultra Yagis are suitable for all "weak signal modes" on the low end of the 2 meter band due to the optimization for high gain with incredibly low noise for EME, Meteor Scatter, Tropo-DX, Sporadic-E, etc. Despite the robust construction (the antennas can withstand wind speeds of up to 100 mph (160 km/h), the Yagis are still relatively light and thus suitable for smaller masts or for stacking several antennas. The OWL Ultra Yagis do not include a balun, as the coaxial cable connects directly to the loop driven element dipole. The antenna can handle 5 kW, but the recommended choke balun handles a maximum power of approx. 1.0 to 1.5 kW is possible. Exceptionally good SWR is achieved over a wide frequency range. With excellent gain to noise ratios (G/T ratio), the economical InnovAntennas OWL Ultra Yagis are well suited for use in stacked arrays, for EME, satellite or terrestrial operations. Each model listing describes the key benefits of the OWL Ultra Yagi Antennas. Your antenna is a part of your receiver and arguably the most important part of your station. You have spent thousands on radio equipment; make sure you don't short-change your set-up by choosing anything other than an InnovAntennas OWL Ultra Yagi.
