Have you ever sealed a piece of electronic gear with it -- then opened it some time later to find that it had still managed to become corroded inside? Guess what? It's not the rain that corroded it - It's the RTV! Normal RTV gives off acetic acid when it cures. That's the vinegar smell. The acetic acid causes the corrosion. DX Engineering has located a Neutral Cure RTV made right here in Ohio that is non-corrosive and is safe for sealing those baluns and other electronic gear that are going to be out in the weather. Applies just like "normal" RTV, dries in one hour and cures in 24 hours at 70 degrees F. And it doesn't smell like vinegar! Permatex Ultra Black RTV silicone adhesive is designed to provide a waterproof, flexible, weather-resistant seal around metal, glass, rubber, and more. It's made to withstand temperatures of up to 500 degrees F.

Permatex Dielectric Grease
Permatex Dielectric Grease may be used in RF connectors to prevent moisture ingress. Feedlines and connectors will last longer, providing peak performance for many more years with the use of dielectric grease on the threads of RF connectors. Preventing the effects of moisture is critical in RF feedline connections. Untreated connector threads will oxidize, corrode and seize more quickly if water vapor can enter and collect inside RF connectors. Ultimately, moisture will enter the coaxial cable, promoting contamination and corrosion, resulting in elevated noise levels and increased signal loss. Permatex Dielectric Grease, placed into the air space of RF connectors and their threads, will stop the adverse effects of water vapor and water ingress. Avoiding direct application on mating surfaces of connector center pins, dielectric grease is safe to use in the air spaces and threads of RF connectors.

Permatex Clear RTV Silicone
Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant s designed to provide a waterproof, flexible, weather-resistant seal around metal, glass, rubber, and more. It's designed for both interior and exterior use. It may be used to attach and seal Guy Line End Caps onto Phillystran. However, this sealant it is NOT recommended for use on electronic devices. This sealant contains acetic acid which accelerates curing time and gives it that unmistakable odor of vinegar, but it also adversely affects circuit board traces and soldered connections. For electronic devices that require sealing, use the DX Engineering Approved Sealant, Permatex 82180 Ultra Black RTV Silicone, which is available here, from DX Engineering.

Permatex Medium Strength Blue Threadlocker
Permatex medium strength blue threadlocker is OEM specified. Blue is an all-purpose threadlocker ideal for all nut and bolt applications of 1/4 in. to 3/4 in., eliminating the need for stocking expensive lock nuts and lock washers. It locks and seals while preventing parts from loosening due to vibration, and it protects threads from corrosion, can be removed with hand tools for easy disassembly, and conforms to ASTM D 5363 AN0321 standards. Permatex high-strength red threadlocker is an OEM-specified formula that works on heavy-duty applications from 3/8 in. to 1 in. (10mm to 25mm).
