SOTAbeams ContestConsole Switching Unit for ICOM

SOTAbeams ContestConsole is a control switch unit for Icom transceivers, provides full access to compatible ICOM rig contest memory functions, and more. Easily connected between your radio and microphone, it is simple to use and feature packed. SOTAbeams ContestConsole features (dependent on Icom transceiver model): * Instant access to voice, CW and PSK memories (they do not need to be displayed on the transceiver screen) * TX PTT button * TX low power tune function – sends a 10W carrier (optional Tune Lead interface cable required) * Pushbutton frequency control (up and down) * External PTT socket for footswitch * Auxiliary microphone socket (3.5 mm) * Specifically designed to work with the IC-7300 but supports a wide range of other Icom transceivers--see "More Details" tab In general, if the radio is compatible with one of ICOM's standard 8-pin microphones (such as HM-36, SM-50, HM-219), then the ContestConsole PTT, frequency up, frequency down buttons, and the 3.5mm microphone socket should work for an electret element. If the radio manual mentions "external keypad" in relation to voice/CW/RTTY memories, then the ContestConsole memory buttons should work. Transceivers that are compatible with the AH-4 tuner should work with the ContestConsole tune button (optional Tune Lead interface cable required). An adapter cable (OPC-589) is required if the radio has a modular microphone connector instead of an 8-pin circular microphone connector. Operational Tips: 1. Some transceiver settings may need to be changed for the memory buttons to work. Search for "external keypad" in your transceiver manual for details. 2. Never connect two microphones at the same time to the ContestConsole. When connecting a microphone use either the 3.5 mm socket or the 8-pin socket, not both. 3. On some Icom transceivers, an external storage memory card or USB drive may be required for voice memory functionality.

SOTAbeams Antenna Lifting Kite

The SOTAkite is specifically selected to be used as an integral piece of a kite-borne antenna system. They are easy to fly and stable making them the perfect aerial-platform. Large enough to lift antennas with ease but small enough to remain easy to control, even in high winds. Available from DX Engineering, the Antenna Lifting Kite with Plus Pack includes SOTAkite, drogue tail, 200 ft. 55 kg. braided Dacron line on reel, instructions, kite bag, 5 meter Shock Cord, two versatile top insulators and two 470K-ohm static bleed resistors. Operating wind speeds of the SOTAkite are 5 to 18 mph, which is a good wide range for maximum utility. The nylon flying surface of the kite is 168 x 100 cm (55 x 34 in.) and is considered by the manufacturer to be suitable for users ages 14 and up. Safety First: In many localities there are restrictions on kite flying. Check your local and national regulations first. Kite antennas must never be used if there is any risk of lightning. They should never be flown within the proximity of the antenna wire length to electrical power lines, any structures, or public roadways. Click "More Detail" for a link to the manufacturer's kite antenna flying guide.
