SOTAbeams Open Wire Line Spacers
SOTAbeams Open Wire Line Spacers are light and strong, heavy duty insulators made with modern materials that make it easy to build your own very low-loss ladder line! Features of these Open Wire Spacers: • Made from a specially selected mix of ABS and PVC to give great strength coupled with good UV resistance and tolerance to a wide temperature range, -58 to +194 degrees F (-50C to +90C) • Unlike heavy ceramic insulators which tend to slip with time on vertical ladder lines, these spacers are lightweight, just 0.2 oz. SOTAbeams Carbon-6 Compact Ultra-Light Telescopic Masts extend to 19 ft. and collapse to a handy 17 inches! Their super-lightweight carbon-fiber composition and nested length is perfect for carrying in your backpack. They're light enough to take on any excursion and are easily telescoping for rapid deployment. Ultra-lightweight portable operators, like mountain-topping backpackers, need a special mast to support their antennas. The new Carbon-6 has been designed for exactly this role. The Carbon-6 has been manufactured specifically for SOTABEAMS. Carbon fiber masts are slightly conductive and so extra care must be taken when using them near power lines. These masts are suitable for supporting lightweight horizontal or inverted-vee antennas. Because of their flexibility, we recommend a maximum antenna height of 16 ft. (5 meters). We do not recommend using these masts for supporting the center of dipoles with heavy feedlines or for use to support a vertical antenna. They are perfect for supporting the center of lightweight end-fed wire antennas. This mast is destined to become a popular choice for the portable operator who just wants to travel light and undertake more "extreme" forms of travel. Each section is set by friction lock, pulling each section firmly with a twisting motion for best lock. When erecting always start with the smallest section. When taking down always start with the largest section. Mast sections may be removed by unscrewing the end cap at the bottom of the mast and removing unwanted sections. SOTAbeams USB Battery Pack Keep-Alive Load Kits
SOTAbeams USB Battery Pack Keep-Alive Load Kits are easily assembled PC Board kits that provide an adjustable USB DC load. Some power banks and many USB battery packs switch off (go into a sleep mode) if the current being drawn is too low. This means that your device works for a few minutes and then stops. Often just a few extra milliamps current draw will keep the battery pack alive. There are various circuits on the web that give a pulsed load which works with some battery packs - but unfortunately SOTAbeams' tests have shown that such circuits don't work reliably with all battery packs. Just plug one of these Keep-Alive Load Kits into your battery pack and increase the current until battery pack stays on reliably (usually between 6 - 150 mA). Depending on the current that your powered device takes it may be a little as a few milliamps. An on-board LED indicates if the battery pack is live. The load supports a standard USB data connection. Building on the success of their range of LASERBEAM Filter Modules, the LASERBEAM-817 Digital Audio Filter Modules are the perfect addition to your FT-817, FT-817ND or FT-818. Unlike analog filters, digital filters provide near-perfect characteristics. Because of the way that the filters are implemented, they are better than analog filters in almost every way. LASERBEAM-817 modules have been designed to specifically complement the FT-817 or FT-818. It has a new filter line-up, optimized gain for this application; revised switching and a filter select LED. These modules greatly improve the performance of the stock ceramic SSB filter. They also have a far superior shape factor when compared to the aftermarket Collins mechanical filters.
