SOTAbeams Fuser 6 DC Distribution Boxes
SOTAbeams Fuser 6 DC Distribution Boxes are the lightest PowerPole® distribution boxes… by far! SOTABEAMS PowerPole® Fuser-6 boxes make light work of connecting five accessories to your power source (they have one input and 5 outputs). All of the connectors are individually fused. In a typical shack you might have a 100 Watt HF radio, a 50 watt 2m FM radio, an antenna tuner and a QRP rig all connected to your Fuser-6 - and still have a spare connector! Fuser-6 boxes are supplied with three 25 Amp and three 5 Amp fuses. Standard automotive blade fuses make replacement easy - these are widely available with values from 1 to 30 Amps. Fuser-6 units incorporate a polarity warning system; lights GREEN for CORRECT and RED for REVERSE. It's handy when you have a battery connected to the system to help avoid damage to your equipment if you accidentally get the battery connections reversed. Fuser-6 internal circuitry is rated at 25 Amps (30 Amp surge); no mean feat for a PCB design. To achieve SOTAbeams had to use a special PCB with double weight copper. They also use a clever design to further improve the current handling: ultra-wide copper tracks are used on both sides of the board. The boards are then roller tinned (on both sides) to reduce the resistance and handle heat even better. They use plated through holes, carefully located to ensure an even current distribution between each face of the board. Of course, Fuser-6 boards use genuine Anderson PCB contacts for lower contact resistance and improved reliability. NOTE: For best kit results use a soldering iron of at least 50 Watts. Additional flux is also helpful to ensure a good result. SOTAbeams LASERBEAM DSP Filter Modules
SOTAbeams LASERBEAM DSP Filter Modules work much better at reducing QRM than mechanical or analog filters. SOTAbeams applies special algorithm-based software to create well-defined passbands with steep contours. SOTAbeams offers their General Purpose, CW and SSB filter modules with switchable passbands. For example, the CW module (SBM-LB-MODULE-CW) may be used with either a 550 to 850 Hz passband, or a wider 300 to 1300 Hz passband. You choose the passband based on your own band conditions. Their SSB module (SBM-LB-MODULESSB) features passbands of either 300 to 2700 Hz or 300 to 2400 Hz. SOTAbeams designers have determined that these passbands work very well for SSB voice filtering. They offer their General Purpose filter module (SBM-LB-MODULE-GP) to accommodate both CW and SSB. These modules have selectable passbands of 550 to 850 Hz and also 300 to 2700 Hz. In this way you may limit CW or SSB QRM that is outside the selected audio passband. Be advised that these modules are NOT of the plug-in style. To use them takes some knowledge and soldering skill. You will also have to add an enclosure, if desired, as well as external parts not supplied with the PCBs. As designed, these modules will drive typical "low power" earbuds all by themselves. They will also drive audio amplifiers or amplified speakers. SOTAbeams WSPRlite Power Conditioner Kits
SOTAbeams WSPRlite Power Conditioner Kits are ideal for running your WSPRlite Antenna Performance Analysis System from a battery or "wall-wart" power supply. WSPRlite Power Conditioners convert any 7 - 20 Volt DC supply into a super-clean and quiet 5 Volt USB supply - perfect for your WSPRlite! SOTAbeams use a linear regulator to avoid the noise problems so often associated with cheap switching regulators. Rated at 200 mA and with a re-settable breaker, these power conditioners will keep your WSPRlite happy - and safe too. Their DC input is protected against voltage spikes by a special TVS diode and is provided with additional smoothing with a low-ESR input capacitor. These features have been added in case you wish to use your WSPRlite in a mobile setting. Unlike simple chargers, SOTAbeams also condition the data lines to avoid unwanted noise affecting your WSPRlite. SOTAbeams USB Battery Pack Keep-Alive Load Kits
SOTAbeams USB Battery Pack Keep-Alive Load Kits are easily assembled PC Board kits that provide an adjustable USB DC load. Some power banks and many USB battery packs switch off (go into a sleep mode) if the current being drawn is too low. This means that your device works for a few minutes and then stops. Often just a few extra milliamps current draw will keep the battery pack alive. There are various circuits on the web that give a pulsed load which works with some battery packs - but unfortunately SOTAbeams' tests have shown that such circuits don't work reliably with all battery packs. Just plug one of these Keep-Alive Load Kits into your battery pack and increase the current until battery pack stays on reliably (usually between 6 - 150 mA). Depending on the current that your powered device takes it may be a little as a few milliamps. An on-board LED indicates if the battery pack is live. The load supports a standard USB data connection. USB plug and socket for easy in-line connection. A heat-shrink sleeve is provided to protect the unit in the field. Don't have your WSPRlite lose its power source!
