Unified Microsystems BevFlex-4X and BevFlex-4X/Q Reversible Receive Antenna System

Unified Microsystems BevFlex-4X Reversible Receive Antenna System is a very versatile two-direction low band receiving antenna. This is the updated and improved version of the W8GNM revolutionary design that uses only low cost, low loss RG-6 for the elements and the feedline of a Reversible Beverage antenna or Reversible Beverage on Ground antenna. Plus, it uses specially designed transformer units that allow the feedpoint unit to be placed anywhere along the length of the Reversible Beverage or BOG, instead of only at one end or the other. Like for other Beverage antennas, the Elevated Beverage or a Beverage on Ground (BOG), the performance of the reversible BevFlex-4X system depends upon the length of the user supplied RG-6 coax for the antenna element. Also, the versatile BevFlex-4X components may be used to create a two-direction version of any one of these antennas, using a much shorter length of wire for the receiving element: * EWE * Flag * VE3DO Loop BevFlex-4X Systems consist of four components; one Feed Unit, two Terminator Units and one Control Switch Unit. The Feed and Terminal Units are house in NEMA rated enclosures and use stainless steel hardware for maximum weather protection. Do you need enhanced reception in four directions? The BevFlex-4X/Q combines two sets of Terminator and Feed Units with the RAS-4 remote antenna switch to let you hear better in all four quadrants. The BevFlex-4X antennas can be any mix of Beverage, BOG, Flag, EWE, or VE3DO. The included RAS-4 Remote Antenna Switch only requires a single coax and four wire control cable to the shack. NOTE: An in-shack four direction switch control box is not included. Choose a control console from DX Engineering, EA4TX and others, or build your own. Just add RG-6 coax and ground rods! Click "More Details" and the Brochure link at the Documentation tab to see pdf diagrams of all of these two and four-direction BevFlex receive antenna system connections. Depending upon the real estate you have available, the FAQ chart will help you choose the Unified Microsystems BevFlex-4X or BevFlex-4X/Q configuration that fits your property and your low band reception needs!

Unified Microsystems Beverage Antenna Transformers

Unified Microsystems Beverage Antenna Transformers are now available. UMS transformers are built with stainless steel hardware and an F-Type coaxial connector. These transformers are fully enclosed for ultimate protection from the elements. They are corrosion resistant and sealed for many years of trouble-free use. Unified Microsystems Beverage transformers should be used with 75 ohm cable, typically RG-6, 6UF, F-6, or equivalent. H. H. Beverage described his "Wave Antenna" (the first Beverage) in the November, 1922 QST Magazine. Beverages are classic designs with well-defined characteristics and time-proven performance. Beverage antennas are among the simplest of high signal-to-noise-ratio antennas to construct. Make Unified Microsystems Beverage Antenna Transformers part of your receive-antenna system. Get yours from DX Engineering today!

Unified Microsystems RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch

Unified Microsystems RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch is an outdoor capable remote relay unit that allows the operator to select up to four antennas. Receive only antennas are critical for success on the low bands. Due to the wavelengths of the low bands, these antennas cannot be rotated. Several very effective receive only antennas are mono-directional or bi-directional, including Beverage, Reversible Beverage, Beverage on the Ground (BOG), Reversible Beverage on the Ground (RBOG) and many others,. Therefore, a high quality, low noise four port receive antenna switch is required to cover all of the directions with multiple antennas. Common mode noise pick up can ruin the performance of receive antenna systems, so the RAS-4 isolates both the center conductor and shield of unselected ports. An internal bifilar ferrite choke further reduces common mode currents. This unit features female F connectors for RG6U coax with male F connectors, the standard field-serviceable coaxial cable assemblies for receive antenna systems. A very important requirement for dual feedline Reversible Beverage and RBOG antennas is provided by the RAS-4. By default, unselected ports are terminated for 75 ohms. The user can change to 50 ohm, open circuit, or center conductor-shield short by soldering wire jumpers. The RAS-4 is housed in a NEMA rated enclosure with a gasket lid. A cable gland seals the control cable entry. The internal circuit board has a conformal coating for additional protection. The RAS-4 can be mounted outdoors, with the enclosure flanges or with the included L bracket for mounting to a pole or post. The RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch is a receive-only relay unit that cannot be used for transmitting antennas. The required in-shack control console switch is not included. The RAS-4 will work with a commercial or a simple home brewed, positive 12V One-of-Four switch. Choose from DX Engineering, EA4TX and others for manual or automated switching. Unified Microsystems RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch Specifications Antenna Selection: 4 receive antennas to 1 main feedline Dimensions: Approx. 4.5 x 3.5 x 3.25 in. Unified Microsystems Band Decoder/Antenna Selector Modules

Unified Microsystems Band Decoder/Antenna Selector Modules are important components if you are building your own automatic antenna switching system. These modules include the switching logic and relay drivers to easily interface between your Elecraft K3, Yaesu radio or computer, and the antenna switches. Use the BCD-14 to decode band switching for up to 14 relays. The BCD-14 modules decode the band select signals from your radio or computer to automatically select the proper antenna or band pass filter for your chosen band of operation. The module's inputs are optically isolated to provide maximum isolation between your radio or computer and the antenna switching system. Module outputs are grounding-type open-collector relay drivers. If the antenna or filter switch you wish to control requires high-side drivers, add the optional HSD-9 module. One output per band will be active, depending on the input signals. However, outputs may be wired to select a single antenna for multiple bands. For example, one relay may be used to select your tri-bander. With two jumpers installed on the BCD-14, that relay will be activated whenever your radio is set to any one of that antenna's three bands. The BCD-14 covers all bands, 160-10 meters, including the WARC bands plus 6 meters, 2 meters, and 440 MHz. The BCD-14 boards have corner mounting holes, but hardware, enclosures and antenna relays are user supplied. Why risk transmitting on the wrong antenna or put yourself in the position to require manual selection at all? Use this economical Unified Microsystems Band Decoder/Antenna Selector Module from DX Engineering, to build your automated antenna selector system!

Unified Microsystems High-Side Driver Modules

Unified Microsystems High-Side Driver Modules, (HSD-9), are the easy way to adapt a BCD-10, BCD-14, or other low-side band switching decoder to a high-side antenna or filter switch. They provide nine channels of high-side relay control when used with low-side drivers. Antenna switches are always either high-side or low-side switched. There are advantages to each, but it's a pain if your decoder and switch are different types. These HSD-9s are a convenient way to convert the BCD series or other decoders to high-side switching. Simply place an HSD-9 between the BCD-10 and your switch. Specifications: * Nine channels of control when used with BCD-10 selector modules * Board dimensions: 2.4 in. by 1.9 in. * Maximum voltage: 24V DC * Maximum current: 1A Note: Use of an HSD-9 REQUIRES a companion BCD-10 or BCD-14 Band Decoder/Antenna Selector Module or other low-side band-switching decoder. These high-side driver modules are an important component if you are you building your own automatic antenna switching system and employing switches requiring high-side drive. Use one of these Unified Microsystems High-Side Driver Modules, now available from DX Engineering, to convert your relay driver!
