DX Engineering® OMNI-TILT® Vertical Antenna Tilt Bases are a completely new design that incorporates features that make this Tilt Base a 'must-have' for all types of vertical antennas. The OMNI-TILT® is patterned on the same proven safe technology as the patented DX Engineering® SAF-T-TILT® and the patented DXE-TB-3P Tilt Bases, that are designed to prevent the antenna from falling when the fasteners are loosened. The user simply lifts the OMNI-TILT® base plate and this positive action disengages the bolts from the top slot, which allows the user to easily and safely walk the ground-mounted antenna up or down for tuning, maintenance, stealth antenna stowing, or in the event extreme weather is on the way. DX Engineering Vertical Ground Mount Tubing
DX Engineering Vertical Ground Mount Tubing is very high-strength 4130 Chromoly steel intended to be placed into a concrete foundation for the installation and support of large vertical antennas, tilt pivot bases and other antenna and mast tilt mounts. We have made these mounting masts the appropriate length for the intended installation and for common ground shipment at a reasonable cost; no more searching for a special pipe or paying high freight charges! Cut from our original 4130 Chromoly Masts that are nominally 22 ft., this high-strength galvanized steel tubing is available only in two tubing sizes at nominal lengths for the intended ground mount use. DXE-VGMT-2CG: 2.0 in. OD is about 5 ft.4 in. length, + or - 2 in. DXE-VGMT-3CG: 3.0 in. OD is about 7 ft. 3 in. length, + or - 3 in. Each tube features a 0.250 in. wall thickness and meets ASTM A-513 Type 5 ratings. They are cold-drawn, electric-weld, high-strength carbon-steel tubing with a yield stress rating of over 100,000 psi! Tensile strength minimum is above 110,000 psi. Minimum Rockwell B hardness is 96. They are temperature stress-relieved to ensure consistent mechanical strength. Galvanizing on these masts meets ASTM A123/A123M specifications. The surface finish has a nearly polished appearance. WiMo ATAS 100/120 HF Counterpoise Kits improve the performance of the ATAS-100 and ATAS-120 antennas when they are used as stationary or portable antennas. The well-known ATAS-100 and ATAS-120 antennas from YAESU were developed as vehicle antennas, but because of their compactness they are often used as portable or stationary antennas. Unfortunately, a balcony railing or the magnetic base alone are typically not sufficient to provide optimal results, so the use of a counterpoise system such as the WiMo ATAS-FGG is useful. The ATAS-FGG counterpoise kit consists of a solid aluminum ring that is attached directly to the ATAS-100 or ATAS-120 antenna with clamping screws and can remain on the ATAS during alternating mobile or stationary use. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Matching Network
The DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Matching Network, DXE-VMN-1, is a custom-designed impedance matching coil that is used at the feedpoint of a low band HF quarter-wave vertical or a Hustler 4-BTV, 5-BTV or 6-BTV multi-band vertical antenna. In most ground-mounted 160, 80, 60 or 40 meter mono-band vertical antenna installations with very good radial systems and high efficiency, feedpoint impedance at resonance is naturally well below 50 ohms, typically between 25 and 40 ohms. Achieving the best SWR match to a 50 ohm coaxial cable feedline on these resonant vertical antennas usually requires this type of coil for adjusting feed point impedance. When mounted with the included L-bracket, the DXE-VMN-1 is just under 7 in. tall. It works as an impedance matching coil, also known as a shunt coil, because it is installed in parallel with the feedline, from the antenna to ground. Plus, it connects the antenna to DC ground to bleed off, or shunt, any static electric charge on the antenna to ground. Yet, it works perfectly as an impedance transformer at HF, just like a hair pin or beta match on a Yagi, easily handling legal limit RF power. The DXE-VMN-1 can aid in matching the low-impedance feedpoint of a multi-band antenna to a reasonable SWR in the user-selected portions of 80 or 40 meter bands without affecting the operation on the other, higher frequency bands. The DXE-VMN-1 has a special coil tap clip to make the inductance adjustment needed for the correct match. NOTE: This matching network is not for use on 43 ft. non-resonant multi-band verticals. It cannot be used as a series coil to "load" a vertical to a lower frequency operation, especially with high power. Matching network shunt coils, loading coils and baluns cannot be used on verticals used in a phased array. Most phased vertical array systems cannot work with matched 50-ohm feedpoints, but rather require 35-ohm, natural impedance feedpoints. Therefore, use the DXE-VMN-1 only on single vertical installations. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits
Some vertical antenna manufacturers indicate that their antennas do not need guying. During times of high winds or ice loading, however, some of these vertical antennas may sustain damage or fail altogether. With the small amount of effort needed to install one of these DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits, the risk hardly seems worth taking. They feature a 4-point guying scheme that provides the best mechanical advantage to prevent wind stress, regardless of direction. The guying is intended for stability only and should never be depended on for primary support. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits are especially recommended for use with DX Engineering tilt bases, because just one of the guy ropes has to be loosened when you tilt the vertical down. The remaining guys help to stabilize the vertical in three directions when being raised. These kits have been designed to be used with ground-mounted quarter-wavelength vertical antennas, such as DX Engineering monoband and multiband verticals and the Hustler 4, 5, and 6-BTV models. Using the DX Engineering vertical antenna guying kits, you can install four guy ropes approximately halfway up the vertical antenna system to ground level and angled at approximately 45 degrees. Guying should be tightened just enough to permit the antenna to swing a few inches. The ends of the ropes are tied to the earth anchors that are screwed into the ground at about the same angle as the ropes. Tie the other ends of the ropes to the vertical antenna just above one of the antenna element clamps or traps (a guying ring is not required). DX Engineering Bulk Radial Wire Kits
DX Engineering Bulk Radial Wire Kits will help you achieve optimal performance with a ground-mounted vertical and allow you to install as many radials as possible. These PVC-insulated stranded-copper radial wires are UV-resistant and roll out easily, unlike the wire that's commonly available at "big box" stores. Any type of ground-mounted vertical antenna—an Inverted L for instance—can usually benefit from the addition of a radial system. The increase in field currents provided by radials improves efficiency and antenna Q. Compared to bare wire, DX Engineering Bulk Radial Wire Kits will last much longer when exposed to the elements. These kits include either steel or biodegradable resin radial wire staples for holding down the radials until grass grows over them. The kits work extremely well with DX Engineering Radial Plates (DXE-RADP-3) to create a complete radial system. Biodegradable staples allow easy installation of radial wires and will degrade and disappear in about a year when they are no longer needed, making them environmentally friendly! The patented* DX Engineering Tilt Base Antenna Mounting Systems enable an operator to raise or lower an antenna in seconds, while leaving the base of the antenna securely attached to the mounting plate and post. DX Engineering Tilt Bases make it easy to tune your vertical, repair, or simply lower your antenna to a safe horizontal position long before bad weather hits. Precision-cut from 3/16 in. 304 stainless steel, these Tilt Base Antenna Mounts are virtually indestructible. They conveniently mount to the same ground pipe or tubing that you use for the antenna and Radial Plate. You could use lag screws or carriage bolts to mount the Tilt Base and the Radial Plate to a wood post, but typically they are securely mounted to a 2 in. max. OD pipe using optional SSVC-2P saddle clamps, displayed in "Required Parts". There are five versions of the DX Engineering Tilt Base Antenna Mounting Systems kit designed for a variety of HF antenna types: DXE-TB-3P: Specifically designed with included stainless steel hardware to mate with the antenna mounting bracket of the Hustler 4, 5 or 6 BTV vertical antennas. DXE-TB-4P: This Tilt Base model provides a mounting plate and clamps for tilting a customer supplied antenna support mast up to 1.75 in. OD and 10 ft. tall, for mounting elevated no-radial vertical antennas that weigh less than or equal to 20 pounds, and have a height of no more than 28 ft. The Vertical antennas and mast assemblies must be adequately guyed. Precautions must be taken when raising or lowering to avoid undue lateral stress on the tilt mechanism. The TB-4P is the tilt option for legacy DX Engineering vertical antenna models DXE-30VE-1, DXE-40-VE-1 and DXE-40VA-1. DXE-TB-6P: Is specifically designed to mate to the antenna mounting bracket of the Hy-Gain AV-14AVQ (HGN-AV-14AVQ). This special tilt base mounting system includes stainless steel hardware that allows the AV-14AVQ to be closer to ground level for maximum performance. DXE-TB-7P: Is specifically designed to mate to the COMTEK 30 Meter (COM-30VA) and 40 Meter (COM-40VA) Vertical Antennas. DXE-TB-8P: Is specifically designed to mate to the COMTEK 20 Meter Vertical Antennas (COM-20VA) which may be tuned to resonate on one band, 20, 17, 15, 12, or 10 meters. DX Engineering 80 Meter Add-On Kits
If you want to add 80 meters of coverage to your Hustler 4-BTV vertical antenna without giving up any existing band coverage, then one of these DX Engineering 80 Meter Add-On Kits is what you need! They are tunable for operating across a small segment of the 75/80m band with an SWR of 1.5:1 or less. Larger frequency excursions are easily made by lowering the antenna and adjusting the length of the top rod. A DXE-TB-3P tilt base mounting plate (sold separately) makes this a simple job. A good SWR meter or antenna analyzer will allow you to check the overall performance of the antenna while making final adjustments.
