Wire Antennas and Parts
Par EndFedz® Antennas
Par EndFedz® Antennas are End Fed Half Wave (EFHW) antennas with the match box coax connection at the end of the wire, for convenient and quick stealth portable operations. These single-band and multi-band antennas can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or as a sloper. No ground plane or counterpoise is needed so portable operation could not be easier. Simply hang the far end from a tree limb or send the wire out a hotel room window or balcony. You can use a telescoping fiberglass mast to get the antenna really high in the air and the supplied end insulators the installation easy. Stealth operation in CC&R and HOA antenna restricted locations is simplified. Their all-black construction makes them difficult to see. Each Par EndFedz® features a UV-resistant black ABS plastic housing with a support rope attachment hole that encloses a matching network to allow the antenna to be fed with standard 50 ohm coaxial cable with a PL-259 (UHF male). All hardware is stainless steel and the SO-239 (UHF female) connector is silver plated and has a PTFE dielectric. The antenna wires are either 18 or 26 AWG stranded Copperweld® with 200 pound breaking strength and a tough, 100% UV stable black polyethylene jacket. One end of the antenna wire has a #10 solder lug making attachment to the matching network feedpoint simple and easily replaceable, if necessary. Standard single and multi-band versions handle 100 or 200 watts and higher power versions handle 300 watts. Lightweight QRP PolyStealth models handle 25 watts and are ideal for portable operation because they are lightweight; the MKII model weighs only 8 ounces and the Trail Friendly model weighs only 3.5 oz. Par EndFedz® Antennas require no counterpoise or extra conductors. The EF-ALLBAND-KW model, about 133 ft. in length, covers eight bands, 80 through 10 meters. The ALLBANDKWJR is 74 ft. in length and operates on five bands, 80-10 meters. The 64 ft. EF-40-10-KW operates on four bands. All three models handle up to 1000 watts SSB/CW and 250 watts AM/Digital Modes. The need for an external tuner may vary based on the antenna model selected and the desired operating band. The manufacturer refers to these antennas as "End-Fed Dipoles" based upon the assertion that a "half-wave radiator is a dipole." This is a variant of the classic definition of a dipole which is a center-fed antenna with two radiating legs running in opposite directions from the feed point. Additional claims about the EFHW state that end feeding a half-wave "can energize the radiator 'nearly' as well as a center-fed." Recent anecdotal measurements indicate that the EFHW radiates about 70% as well as a traditional center-fed dipole. More information is available at each Par EndFedz® model listed below. DX Engineering Off Center Fed High Power Dipole Kits
DX Engineering Off Center Fed (OCF) dipole wire antenna kits use two different lengths of antenna wire (dipole legs) to achieve operation on the HF bands. A slightly elevated SWR is the trade-off for a single wire antenna that covers multiple bands efficiently. On most bands, the internal tuner in modern transceivers will match the antenna feedline when the SWR is 3:1 or less. On frequencies where the SWR is above 3:1 SWR, an ATU external to the rig may be needed. DX Engineering Off Center Fed Dipoles are designed to be rugged yet lightweight, and handles 1,500 watts SSB and CW. These kits include two lengths of premium 14 gauge relaxed PVC antenna wire, each with a ring terminal soldered on one end; one DXE-MC20-C4-1 DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 4:1 Dual Core Balun (with SO-239); the DXE-WA-BMB Dipole Center Insulator Mounting Bracket for Maxi-Core® Balun including End Insulators; and Stainless Steel hardware. Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes
Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes. Mastrant offers these products for a variety of applications, from thin support lines used for wire antennas and beams, to rope guys for supporting small and portable masts and vertical antennas. When you need quality rope to install, replace, or modify your antenna systems, consider Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes, now available from DX Engineering.

Kelemen Monoband Dipoles
Kelemen Monoband Dipoles are high-quality, preassembled wire antennas featuring full-size models and a few shortened low-band models with coils for lengths that are easier to fit in the yard. Kelemen Dipoles are rugged; strong but lightweight, with good stability and excellent longevity. The included balun is intentionally not potted watertight to save on weight, instead using effective weep holes. Maximum power handling depends on each model's balun or coil used on shorter antennas. Kelemen Dipoles are pre-tuned to the lower end of the band (CW) because they are easily shortened for use on the phone (SSB) end of the band. Monoband dipoles are the simplest and most efficient type of dipole. Depending on the availability of supports, the Kelemen Dipole can be suspended in different ways and achieve different directional characteristics depending on the height. As an inverted-V set up close to the ground, it is an ideal omnidirectional antenna with strong high-angle radiation which is good for local traffic. The higher the dipole hangs, the flatter the radiation, and the better the chances for DX. Due to the light construction of the Kelemen dipoles, the requirements for the supports are not very high. For example, with inverted-vee setups, a push-up mast is usually sufficient as a mast. With horizontal suspension, a small tree with a pulley can often be used as a support point. Insulators and center hooks are included with each preassemble Kelemen Dipole antenna. For installation, use lengths of non-conductive antenna rope for the center support and for each end of the dipole. Order Kelemen Monoband Dipoles in North America exclusively from DX Engineering.

Specific models handle either 400 watts, 1,000 watts or 2,000 watts PEP SSB and CW at resonance. Kelemen Antennas are fully temperature-resistant and weather-proof, and are manufactured from high-quality materials. Balun cases are constructed of transparent, weather-proof polycarbonate with a bottom-mounted SO-239 (UHF female) connector. Hardware and clamps are all stainless steel. Each antenna is completely assembled with the balun, clear PVC-insulated stranded copper wire, stainless wire clamps and egg insulators, ready for operation. Just add rope and coax to complete your Kelemen wire antenna installation. Kelemen Trap Dipole Antennas may be mounted horizontally or in an Inverted-Vee configuration with a central support required. Many Kelemen Antennas are perfect for portable operations because of their low weight. Their coaxial traps are much lighter than conventional traps, making it easier to keep the antenna at an effective height. In many cases they can be easily supported by a single fiberglass pole. For base operations, these antennas should be placed high, in an unobstructed location well away from buildings to limit shifting of resonant frequencies. Kelemen Antennas are often the best possible antenna choice for full-time base operations, offering the advantages of specialized multi-band coverage that perfectly complements the other antennas of the station. Diamond Antenna W8010 Wire Dipole Antennas
Diamond Antenna W8010 Wire Dipole Antennas arrive with the really hard work already done for you! All of the wire lugs and connectors are in place and the loading coils are wound and ready to go. All that is necessary is to assemble the pieces and hang it up! The beauty of these shortened resonant dipole antennas is that they will cover 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters with an acceptable SWR and without an antenna tuner. However, due to the typically limited bandwidth of wire antennas, some trimming may be required to get the absolute best SWR from one band-end to the other. Each band is individually adjustable, as this wire antenna has two legs for 80, 40 and 15 meters and two for 20 and 10 meters, which are to be separated by at least 30 degrees vertically or horizontally. If you have an HF antenna tuner handy, then you will always have minimum SWR away from the center frequency. Add some rope and a coax to this low-loss coil loaded dipoles and put it up between trees or on a mast as a 4-way inverted-vee. With its 1200 Watt power rating, you'll be ready to operate and even snag some DX! An SO-239 connector allows for an easy coaxial connection to the center insulator and the approximate 63-foot length will comfortably fit most backyards. Diamond Antenna went to great lengths to seal their components against the weather, so durability and reliability come as standard features! When you're looking for an inexpensive five-band HF dipole, Diamond Antenna W8010 Wire Dipole Antennas are going to be hard to beat!

EAntenna Sloper Antennas
The EAntenna Slopers are shortened with a coil to reduce the antenna length, but behave like quarter-wave sloper antennas. Like any Sloper antenna, it is directional with a low angle for excellent long range DX results. Directivity is away from the supporting metal mast or tower, toward the lower end of the sloper. If a non-metallic vertical support is used for the sloper, an additional vertical wire counterpoise is required. The antenna wire is 2mm (approx. 12 AWG) with UV-resistant insulation for durability. This antenna does not include a balun, but use with a feedline choke, line isolator, or coax bead choke is recommended to achieve the desired results. These antennas are rated for 2 kW CW. The EAntenna EASLP160S achieves a considerable 2:1 SWR bandwidth of 75 kHz. The EAntenna EASLP80S achieves a respectable 2:1 SWR bandwidth of 210 kHz. The assembly and deployment of this antenna is simple. The feedpoint of the antenna is attached to the mast or tower at the minimum height listed below, or higher, if possible, for better results. If supported by a tree, this antenna requires a grounded vertical wire counterpoise, in addition to the coax feedline. With antenna support rope, extend the insulated end to a support a minimum of 10 ft. above the ground. This antenna is preset to the bottom of the band. Adjust to higher frequencies within the band with 5 cm (2 in.) cuts for gradual changes while using an antenna analyzer. In just 5 minutes you can prune the antenna to cover the desired portion of the band. Physical Characteristics of the EAntenna Slopers: * EASLP160 Total Length: 17.7m (58.0 ft.); Minimum Height: 12.7m (41.6 ft.) * EASLP80 Total Length: 11.0m (36.0 ft.); Minimum Height: 8.0m (26.2 ft.)

DX Engineering Multi-Band Dipole Antennas
DX Engineering Multi-Band Dipole Antennas are designs that are rugged, yet lightweight. Using a tuner, they are usable to 30 MHz and come complete with the wire elements, ladder feedline, center T support, and end mount brackets. These antennas are built using the highest quality components. They use 14 AWG stranded-copper, PVC jacketed elements for flexibility and strength and 100 ft. of 18 AWG 300-ohm 0.88 Velocity Factor ladder lines that are UV-resistant. Stainless steel hardware is included. Often, a 4:1 balun is suggested for multi-band dipoles; however, the best balun to use for this application is a 1:1 ratio. The 1:1 baluns provide better balance, have lower loss, and are more tolerant to load impedance and balance variations than other baluns. A tuner balun is not included in the dipole antenna kits and is available separately. The dipole center T support has pre-drilled holes for the attachment of the wire elements, feedline, and support or messenger lines. The center support top hole is used for the attachment of a "messenger line" that can be strung above the antenna wire and is used to provide support for the antenna wire and feedline. The use of the messenger line, which is strongly recommended but not included, will reduce the stress on the element wires and keep the antenna from stretching over time, which will change its resonant frequency. This line can be thin Synthetic Textile rope available from DX Engineering, which has a high breaking strength. Ideally, it should attach to the same structure used for the dipole, only above it, forming at least a 30 degree angle between the dipole and the messenger line. For further information and to decide the amount of rope you will need, please read the included instructions and check your wire antenna area of construction. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. When you lack the room for more than one antenna or need a multiband antenna for band agility, consider one of these DX Engineering Multi-Band Dipole Antennas as an elegant and economical solution!

Alpha Delta HF SWL Sloper Antennas
Alpha Delta HF SWL Sloper Antennas are a very unique and very effective adaptation of existing antenna theory. They operate as quarter wave slopers, which means that the wires are one quarter wavelength long; or multiples of a quarter-wave on each frequency band. These SWL Sloper Antennas are designed to cover: Medium Wave (0.5 to 1.6 MHz) and the 120, 90, 60, 49, 41, 31, 25, 21, 19, 16 and 13 meter SWL shortwave bands. Compared to a standard half wave dipole, the other quarter wave of these antennas, which is necessary for performance and the proper feed point impedance, is made up of the "Down-Lead" wire, which is attached. With a quarter wave sloper, the center conductor of the coax is attached to the radiating wires and the shield of the coax is attached to the down lead. Standard SO-239 (UHF female) connectors are provided on the ALP-DX-SWL for this purpose. Excellent performance is attained with installations of only 20 to 40 ft. in height. Historically, and by design, quarter wave sloper antennas are known to be excellent DX and long haul antennas. The current lobes, which define the major radiation characteristics of an antenna, are up high at the feed point and are not as subject to attenuation as a vertical antenna, whose current lobe is at ground level. At an Alpha Delta location, side by side comparisons between the ALP-DX-SWL and a 32 ft. commercial vertical with 18 radials show the DX-SWLs to be as much as 10 dB stronger into Europe and Africa. Since a sloper has an optimized low-angle radiation pattern for peak DX performance, it will greatly outperform a dipole mounted at the same height. Exceptional for those really distant weak signal DX stations! The difference can be phenomenal. HF sloper antennas come fully assembled and use stainless steel hardware, UV-protected coils and components, and 12 AWG wire. They are designed to survive severe-weather environments. Insulators and support rope are included. SWLs chase the rare ones with Alpha Delta HF SWL Sloper Antennas from DX Engineering!

Bushcomm HORIZON 2040 Center-Fed Dipoles
Bushcomm HORIZON 2040 Center-Fed Dipoles are designed to be durable in the extreme. They are also very economical over the long haul. These stainless steel and copper antennas are constructed for emergency, temporary or permanent installation in some of the world's most inhospitable environments and they are built using only the highest-quality materials. And at only 13 meters in length, they will easily fit into most installation scenarios. Commercial antennas are rated with a usable VSWR of 2:1 or under. Rating the Horizon 2040 using this method the resonant band width is appropriately 150 kHz at 40 meters, 300 kHz on the 20 meter band. In most cases this will be fine. But if you prefer wider band width or tighter SWR an on-board tuner or the addition of a good-quality external tuner will help. When manufactured the antennas are hand tuned at approximately 3m (10 feet) above ground. For this reason, when you install the antenna, the height above ground or proximity of trees buildings sheds and so on will affect your SWR. You may have to retune for your requirements. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. Dipole antennas are tried and true since the very beginning of radio. Order Bushcomm HORIZON 2040 Center-Fed Dipoles from DX Engineering for your Go-Bag, RV, or the back yard!
