InnovAntennas 10M or 11M LFA-Q Loop-Fed Quad Beams

InnovAntennas 10M or 11M LFA-Q Loop-Fed Quad Beams from G0KSC represents significant development of LFA Yagis with a substantial difference: LFA-Q (Loop Fed Array Quad) Beams use top and bottom booms with through-boom LFA Yagi-style loops arranged vertically for every element. This very rugged design achieves better gain for a given length of boom and much lower noise for better signal quality compared to conventional Yagi antennas. InnovAntenna LFA-Q quad structure provides high directivity, eliminating unwanted spurious radiation. They achieve great side and rear rejection while retaining excellent gain, front-to-back and SWR bandwidth across the band. These are amazingly compact, high gain directional antennas, constructed to withstand serious weather conditions! Antennas of this series can be built and tuned to operate on a 500 kHz section of the 10 meter 28 MHz Amateur Band or on the 11 meter 27 MHz Citizens Band. The desired band is easily selected by changing the length of the outer element sections during construction – exact dimensions are provided in the instructions. The driven loop element feedpoint impedance is 50 ohms which allows a direct feed at high transmitting power. Vertical stacking of two or more antennas can significantly increase directivity, gain and signal quality; an interesting alternative when available space prevents the installation of long boom beam antennas. Just like other HF quads, LFA-Q vertical loop-fed quads are inherently quieter than a Yagi of the same size, making them a perfect choice for use in any location with high ambient noise level, such as a city or densely populated neighborhood. There is a 10M or 11M LFA-Q Loop-Fed Quad Beam version that matches your space, support, and wallet: - The 2-element economy version has loop spacing booms of only 2.3 ft. (70 cm); - The 3-element compact version booms are 10.5 ft. (3.2m) in length: - The 4-element performance model boom lengths are 26.9 ft. (8.2 m). Each LFA-Q is very stable mechanically, with mast clamps on each boom, top and bottom! Thanks to the use of high-quality materials, extensive modeling and testing, the durability and reliable performance of InnovAntennas 10M or 11M Loop-Fed Quad Beams is undeniable.

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits include plentiful quantities of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals that are easily soldered. Along with spools of the same wire as used by the most successful contest stations and DX enthusiasts for their ground-mounted vertical antennas, these kits will help your antenna system achieve optimal performance. The 16 AWG tinned solid copper wire in these kits provide an extremely cost effective solution for the high-count, full-size ground radial wire systems that are required for top-performing HF vertical antenna installations. Ground wire radials do not need to be any specific length because the earth detunes them. Fill your ground-mounted vertical space with radials that run out from the antenna feedpoint in all possible directions, as far as they can go, up to about one-quarter wavelength on the lowest frequency. Even radials that are all about one-eighth wavelength long on the lowest frequency band are just fine for multi-band verticals over reasonably conductive soils. Use longer radials on lossy soils with sand and rocks. In most cases, a greater number of short ground radials will provide greater efficiency and stronger signals than is achieved with a few long radials. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits are available in four sizes: Shorter spool kits, 500 ft. and 1,000 ft., are perfect for the single HF ground-mounted vertical. Longer spool kits, 2,500 ft. and 5,000 ft., are intended for 2-element Dual Vertical Arrays, 3-element ProStack Arrays, and 4-element Four Square Array Systems. Each kit has the appropriate number of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals. Why is this wire the absolute best choice for any ground-mounted vertical antenna? Because, DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire will last much longer in a variety of soil conditions as compared to bare copper, copper coated steel or aluminum wires. Radials deployed with those other wire types actually corrode and degrade rather quickly. Unfortunately, they do so slowly enough that the operator does not easily perceive that degradation in terms of antenna system performance. With Tinned Copper wire, full radial system integrity is maintained for a greater number of years. Depending upon soil type, installations with DXE-TCRW16 will maintain vertical antenna performance for many, many years… and even decades. NOTE: To prevent accelerated corrosion and the possibility of noise, DO NOT use metal anchor pins (lawn staples) on Tinned Copper Radial Wire. These kits contain only the DXE-STPL-100BD Biodegradable Anchor Pins to hold down bare wire radials. Biodegradable staples allow easy installation of radial wires and will disperse in a couple years, after they are no longer needed, making them site friendly. Biodegradable staples work best in soft ground where they may be pushed or lightly tapped into the ground. Since they are a lacto-resin material they are subject to breaking in rocky or hard soil and are not intended to be hammered. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire kits are the right choice for long lasting top-performance radial systems for your ground-mounted vertical antenna system.

NOTE: The dual-band beams for 2 meters and 70 cm designed by DK7ZB cover 144 to 146 MHz and 420 to 440 MHz, which is the entire band in Europe. In the USA they are suitable for use on SSB, CW, digital and satellite as a horizontally polarized antenna. They will NOT function for the American FM Simplex and Repeater band sections of 146 - 148 MHz and 440 -450 MHz. DX Engineering recommends antennas manufactured by EAntenna because their attention to detail is meticulous! These Yagi, log periodic and rotatable dipole antennas are built with only the highest quality stainless steel hardware and aircraft grade aluminum. As you look through their selections, be aware that advanced, cutting-edge computer modeling and optimization techniques were used to produce EAntenna premier HF beams and state-of-the-art VHF and UHF antennas. Their mechanical designs are very robust in every way, as most are rated for at least 100 MPH wind survival. To see additional information about each antenna, click on the "More Details" link on the antenna of interest. Then click the Specifications tab to see all of the physical and electrical characteristics of that antenna. EAntenna products are offered exclusively in North America by DX Engineering. Plus we can ship internationally! When you are making plans for a new antenna at your station, plan to look right here for the outstanding solutions by EAntenna, "The Best Choice for Your Antenna System!" NOTE: Manuals are normally supplied bilingual. If your manual lacks an English section, contact DX Engineering for an English version. IMPORTANT: EAntenna VHF and UHF Loop Fed Antennas are intended to be mounted horizontally for SSB and CW operation which is at the lower frequency end of the bands, NOT on FM. For example, the 2 meter LFA should be mounted horizontally and is tuned for use on 144-146 MHz and is not intended for FM use on 146-148 MHz. Additionally, the DK7ZB design EAntenna dual-band beams for 2 meters and 70 cm cover only 144-146 MHz and 420-440 MHz, the same European frequency range, and so they are not suitable for FM use in North America. EAntenna Cross Polarized LFA beams have both horizontal and vertical elements with only 144.0 - 144.5 MHz coverage designed specifically for EME or satellite enthusiasts.

SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers

SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers are low-noise, band-specific, weatherproof preamplifiers designed for installation near VHF and UHF antennas. Available for the 6 meter, 4 meter (Europe), 2 meter and 70 cm Amateur bands, these preamplifiers are installed in-line, at the antenna. They improve receive performance by amplifying weak signals before feedline loss can reduce them. Powering and Sequencing Most models can be powered remotely through the coaxial cable, and many modern transceivers include a built-in bias-tee for mast-mounted preamplifiers. If the transceiver or transverter system does not provide power, an external bias-tee or remote-feed unit is required. • The DCW-15 and DCW 2004B provide sequencing support. • The DCC-12 does not provide sequencing. • SP series preamplifiers include a built-in RF VOX circuit for safe operations up to 100 watts; for transmit power above 100 watts, PTT control with a sequencer is required. Some models require a direct DC connection (UHF female). • -S series preamplifiers feature lower current signal relays with slightly higher insertion loss. • MHP and MHP-S series preamplifiers versions require sequencer control (see below). Signal Filtering and Switching Built-in helix filters effectively reject out-of-band signals, helping maintain clean receive performance. Real coaxial relays handle transmit/receive switching, resulting in very low insertion loss (except for SP-S series). And each amplifier is carefully calibrated at multiple test stations before packaging. Dual-Band Models Dual-band models include built-in diplexers, so they require only one connection for the multiband antenna and one connection for the station coaxial cable. MHP Series for Demanding Stations The MHP series is designed for demanding operating environments and provides higher gain for weak-signal modes such as Tropo-DX and EME. With maximum transmit power handling of 1500 watts on 6m and 2000 watts on 2m and 70cm, these preamplifiers are well suited for contesting, DX, and EME operation. Important Note for MHP Models Bias-tee power (on the RF coax) is not supported in most MHP Preamplifiers. They must be powered directly using the appropriate cable size for the required distance, and they may only be operated with a correctly wired sequencer, such as the DCW 2004 B Sequence Controller. Transmitting high power without a directly wired sequencer is likely to damage the MHP preamplifier. Housing and Hardware All SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers are supplied in UV-resistant, weatherproof housings with Type N female connectors. Hot-dip galvanized clamps and stainless steel mounting hardware are included. See individual models for band coverage and detailed specifications.
