Yaesu G-2800DXA Extra Heavy-Duty Rotator Systems

Yaesu G-2800DXA Extra Heavy-Duty Rotator Systems are azimuth positioners designed to rotate large tower-mounted amateur and professional antenna arrays under remote control from the station's operating position. These systems feature attractive compass-dial position indication controllers, with a connector port for optional computer interface for automated directional antenna positioning control. Yaesu's G-2800DXA rotator design utilizes 98 heavy 3/8 in. dual-stacked circumferential ball bearings to distribute load over the full diameter of the housing. This design minimizes stress and wear and practically eliminates the possibility of destructive water entry: There is no shaft hole in the top of the housing. Instead of the usual AC motor drive used in older rotator designs, the G-2800DXA, G-1000DXA and G-800DXA use a variable-voltage DC motor, removing the need for a large starting capacitor with its potential for failure exposed to outside temperature variations. The factory-lubricated rotator unit is housed in melamine resin-coated die-cast aluminum, intended to provide maintenance-free operation under all climatic conditions. A mast alignment gauge on the rotator housing simplifies accurate mechanical alignment during installation. Tower mounted, this model handles over 30 sq. ft. of antenna wind load and over 650 lbs. of vertical mast load. About 130 ft. of control cable is included with the G-2800DXA only. Control console power is 110/120 volts AC. The handsome desktop controller provides 360 degrees radial indication of actual antenna azimuth bearing. You can select rotation time over 360 degrees from 50 to 120 seconds on the G-2800DXA, and preset a desired heading for the rotator, to which it then turns automatically. When a fast rotation speed is selected, special "auto slow-start" and "auto slow-stop" features avoid sharp jolts to the antenna array and tower. Activating the rotator causes it to begin turning at slow, but increasing, speed. As the antenna approaches the desired heading, the rotation automatically slows down, before bringing the antenna to a gentle stop. The operator may select the stop heading, the compass bearing through which the rotator cannot be turned, which is most convenient for their station location and operation, allowing full rotation through north, south or both, if desired. In any case, 90 degrees overlapping rotation allows rotation through the selected stop heading for 450 degrees of total rotation. These rotators are intended for mounting to an accessory shelf inside a support tower (not supplied), at least 1-meter (40 in.) below the top of the tower. Yaesu rotators have a fine reputation within the Amateur Radio community. When installing a new tower, or replacing an old rotator, consider purchasing a Yaesu G-2800DXA Extra Heavy-Duty Rotator System from DX Engineering.

DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas

DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas (the RSEAV Antennas) offer excellent low noise radio frequency reception from 40 kHz to 30 MHz. Better receiving performance than full-size transmit antennas and other active makes the DXE-RSEAV-1 the best choice on the market for VLF through HF reception, including long-distance AM broadcast, Medium Wave and Shortwave (SWL), and new low-frequency Amateur bands, DXing, contesting, and everyday HF operations. Click on a listed product title and Scroll Down to see additional important information. A complete product description appears below the Specifications Overview. Instruction manual links appear in the Documentation section. The sleek and stealthy DXE-RSEAV-1 includes a high-quality three-section 8.5 ft. (2.6m) aluminum tubing whip, insulated mounting plate and the completely new DXE-AVA-3 Active Matching Unit. Its state-of-the-art broadband operational amplifier design works as a high-impedance buffer between the short antenna element and RG6U 75-ohm coax. When installed in the appropriate location, RSEAV antennas provide significantly better weak signal reception than other active receive antennas and full-size transmit-capable antennas, with substantially reduced noise and lower spurious signal interference. Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas are intended to be mounted on a ground rod at ground level in a clear area away from all metal, towers and other antennas. They are sold individually (DXE-RSEAV-1), or with a bias tee (DXE-RSEAV-1FVI) and DXE-RSEAV-1 Receive Short Element Active Verticals set a new standard for "Active Receive Vertical Antennas" replacing legacy DXE-ARAV-3, ARAV-2, ARAV-1 and AL-24 versions. Use multiple DXE-RSEAV-1 for all 4 and 8 element DX Engineering Receive Arrays – all 3, 4 and 8 element Hi-Z Antennas Arrays – and 2 element receive arrays with DXE-NCC-2 and NCC-1 Variable Phasing Controllers. The DXE-RSEAV-1 is designed to be a very low-gain, low-noise antenna for greatly improved signal-to-noise performance over a very wide range of frequencies. In a proper single or multi-element array installation, this Receive Vertical antenna will attenuate high-angle skywave signals, which is the goal for a low band DXing receive antenna. Low-angle, long-range DX signals are easier to copy with a good radio and DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas. Please Note: To achieve the expected reception pattern, multi-element phased arrays depend upon identical gain and phase response from each element. Every individual element amplifier, its grounding, and even its feedline characteristics and length, must be identical to the others in the array. Therefore, when unrepairable failures occur, it is essential to replace or upgrade all the elements in the array with identical, fully compatible DXE-RSEAV-1 antennas or DXE-AVA-3 units.

InnovAntennas DXR Series Multi-Band HF Beams

InnovAntennas DXR Series Multi-Band HF Beams have short booms with full-size elements or capacity-loaded shortened elements, all with excellent performance, making them very popular internationally. The DXR Series interlaced-element antennas, optimized by G0KSC over a long period of time, achieve the best possible balance between compact size and performance. For the DXR Series Multi-band Yagis, equal attention was paid to a very solid construction and sufficiently small component and packaging size, to keep shipping costs within reasonable limits. Click on any model listed for specific details and specifications. InnovAntennas DXR Series Multi-Band HF Beams are available exclusively from DX Engineering in North America. Important features of InnovAntennas DXR Series Multi-Band HF Beams: * No traps, matching links, or hairpins * Only one feed line for all bands * Careful selection of materials without regard to cost * Very robust construction with still manageable package size The DXR Series beams use a 1.97 x 1.97 in. (50 x 50 mm) square boom with 0.078 in. (2 mm) wall thickness. A square boom has the advantage that the elements cannot twist in the plane. On the other hand, it is slightly heavier than a round boom of the same stiffness. The DXR Yagis do not require any bracing of the boom. The longest elements are 1.378 in. (35 mm) diameter in the middle and taper relatively quickly to achieve a good compromise between weight and strength. This construction also helps to avoid constant vibration even in light winds. With these multi-band Yagis, care has been taken to ensure that there are never more than the elements of three bands nested within each other. This is because each additional element for one band can cause interference on another band. This negative effect was avoided by careful manual optimization. The result is the best possible matching over a wider band range than other antenna designs. In most cases, no tuner is necessary; the SWR minimum can be precisely set by adjusting the element lengths. Due to the robust construction and the absence of moving or electrically active components such as coils, traps, hairpins, etc., an InnovAntennas DXR beam is maintenance-free for many years. The insulators are UV-resistant and designed for a wide temperature range. The mounting hardware uses sea-water resistant stainless steel and the aluminum is type T6 6066/6082, which is also used in aviation. It is nice not to have to climb the mast every year to maintain the antenna. The DXR Series Multiband beams are designed to require only one feed line. This makes installation on a mast with a rotor very easy. And the use of modern SDR transceivers, which allow the observation of several bands at the same time, becomes really useful. The one feed line is connected directly to the solid distribution rails of the fed elements. By avoiding baluns, matching elements, traps, or hairpins for tuning, transmit power is only limited by the coaxial cable and connectors. Note: Front-to-back ratio (F/B) and SWR bandwidth data for the DXR Series will be added as it becomes available. Many models of the DXR Series are available as a "super-compact" version, on which the longest elements have been shortened with capacity hats, thus reducing their turning radius considerably. The installation of these impressive antennas is possible even where space is limited.

DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array V3 Systems

DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array V3 Systems, DXE-R4S-SYS-V3, dramatically improve reception of weak distant MW and SW signals with excellent rejection of extraneous signals and noise. This is a four-direction switchable phased array that is able to cover multiple HF Amateur bands, such as 160, 80 and 40 meters, by using time delay phasing of four physically short active receive vertical elements. The resulting directional receiving pattern has deep back and side nulls that are superior to Beverage antennas and other receive arrays. The DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array is less susceptible to high angle signals than EWE, Flag, Pennant, K9AY and SAL antennas. Short vertical element receive arrays limit interfering signals and noise for dramatically superior weak signal reception, as compared to full size transmitting antennas and arrays. With the appropriate location and spacing of the four stealthy 8.5 ft. (2.6m) vertical elements, the Receive Four Square Array V3 System is a high performance, directional receive antenna for HF Amateur, SWL or AM DXing. Click or tap the title of a listed item for an overview - a complete description, Specifications, Required and Suggested Parts. Links to instruction manuals and charts appear in Documentation. DX Engineering Receive Four Square Arrays offer directional performance comparable to four long Beverage wire antennas, while using far less land area. In the appropriate clear area, away from metal, structures and other antennas, each of the four Actives simply mount inches above the earth onto a ground rod. Each element is installed on the corners of the array square with sides that are one-eighth to one-quarter wavelength on the lowest band. For example, the optimized Receive Four Square Array for 160, 80 and 40 meters has elements spaced 70 ft. apart. The DXE-R4S-SYS-V3 system includes the DXE-RFS-3 Receive Four Square Array Controller, four Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas, DXE-RSEAV-1, featuring the new DXE-AVA-3 Active Matching Units, insulating mounting plates and stainless hardware. DX Engineering 160 Meter THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas

DX Engineering 160 Meter THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas are high-performance antennas specifically designed for use on Top Band. You will achieve the strongest possible presence at your power level and be competitive with a 160 meter vertical monoband antenna that is only 55 feet tall! A custom-designed capacity hat system allows you to get on 160 meters with unparalleled performance. Wires and ropes have been accentuated in our product image for your viewing clarity. They are much less visible in an actual installation with minimal visual impact for such a large antenna. DX Engineering 160 Meter THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas are tunable with an impressive 40 kHz bandwidth. This means that operation on the CW DX frequencies and DX Phone frequencies are within the range of most internal tuners - no physical changes to the antenna are necessary. DX Engineering DXE-160VA-1, made with sectional aluminum tubing, is a 55-foot high Monoband Vertical Antenna system with a massive 3-inch OD base section. Included with this antenna system is a rugged, patented* stainless steel pivot fixture for ease of raising, lowering and tuning adjustments. Engineered with 6061-T8 and 6063-T832 corrosion-resistant aluminum tubing, stainless steel mounting brackets and stainless steel hardware, this antenna is very durable and attractive. Why Does This Antenna Perform So Well for Its Height? The top capacity hat is large enough that the current along the radiator is almost constant. Typical shortened verticals for this band, with smaller top-hats, have currents that vary along the length and end up producing much less signal strength. This also works in the receive mode to let you hear weaker signals, although at this frequency range dedicated receiving antennas are almost a must. See DX Engineering's full line of Receive Antennas and Array Systems. DX Engineering 160 Meter THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas feature: * High Efficiency Design * 5 kW SSB and CW rated * Unparalleled reliability * Custom designed capacity hat engineered for top performance * DX Engineering Adjustable Matching Network configures the lowest SWR * Broad 2:1 SWR bandwidth - 40 kHz - CW + DX Phone * Lowest possible take-off angle reduces domestic QRM signals * Easy tilt up and down-- Unique fold-over antenna mount features DX Engineering's patented pivoting fixture, *U.S. Patent Number 8,130,168 * High power handling and high strength, UV protected EXTREN® insulators * Ultra-rugged construction starts with 3 inch OD Aircraft Grade heavy wall tubing * Withstands steady-state winds in excess of 50 mph The optional DXE-VRW-1 Manual Winch for easy one-person raising and lowering of the antenna is available from DX Engineering. You can move the DXE-VRW-1 winch between similar antennas in a multi-antenna installation. This antenna system requires the installation of a heavy duty mounting pipe set in concrete. Specifically, 3 in. OD high strength galvanized steel tubing with 0.250 in. minimum wall thickness and 7 ft. (84 in.) minimum length, which is available from DX Engineering; part number DXE-VGMT-3CG. A customer supplied 2-1/2 in. Schedule 80 pipe that has an outside diameter of 2.875 in. is also suitable. About 36 in. of the mounting pipe should extend above the concrete. Depth of the mounting hole and amount of concrete is dependent on local soil type, condition and antenna guying. THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas require a good ground radial system. We recommend a minimum of 32 radials, 65 ft. long, but more radials that are all longer will be more efficient for better signals. Note: For additional information, please look at the files under the "Documentation" tab. Do you want a great Top Band signal? If so, then try one of these DX Engineering 160 Meter THUNDERBOLT® Vertical Antennas!
