SSB Electronic LNA Series Low-Noise Preamplifiers

SSB Electronic LNA Series Low-Noise Preamplifiers are newly developed low-noise receiving amplifiers for the 6m, 2m and 70cm bands, featuring super low noise with high gain, making them ideal for use in EME (moon bounce), MS (meteor scatter), Aurora and tropo-DX operations. High performance is reflected in exceptional IP3 test figures (35dBm, typical), to provide strong signal immunity. Very good rejection of strong signals near and far guarantees interference-free operation, even in the vicinity of other radio transmissions from commercial and broadcast stations as well as mobile carriers. The input circuit of the amplifier is built with high quality components in a chamber construction, optimized for the best noise characteristics. The bandpass at the output of the amplifier ensures very good in-band selection with signals outside the pass band effectively suppressed. The LNA Series Preamplifiers do not have RX/TX relays and are intended for receiving applications. LNA Series Preamplifiers are built in a sturdy tinplate housing, suitable exclusively for indoor applications (Ip41 to DIN EN 60529). Choose between models that have two Type-N female connectors, Type-N Male and Female, and SMA female. These amplifiers can be powered via an external cable or via a coaxial bias tee (remote power supply). The -MA weatherproof variant of the receive-only LNA series is characterized by a robust, IP44-protected housing, allowing the high-quality preamplifier to be mast-mounted close to the antenna using Type-N connectors only. Power is supplied exclusively over the coax. If your receiver does not output 12-15 VDC receive preamplifier power onto the antenna feedline, use the SSB Electronic DCC-5000PRO Bias Tee (remote power inserter).

SSB Electronic LNA-30 Broadband 5 kHz – 30 MHz Low Noise Mast-Mount Preamplifiers

SSB Electronic LNA-30 Broadband 5 kHz – 30 MHz Low Noise Mast-Mount Preamplifiers cover the VLF, LF, and MF range, including the 2200 through 10 meter Amateur bands. Only for receiving applications, the LNA-30 is used to transform a simple wire or small whip antenna into a powerful broadband receiving antenna. This allows, for example, an SDR receiver to be operated in an unfavorable location with limited space and still deliver very good results. A skimmer or The LNA-30 amplifies the signals received by about 20 dB. The operating power can be varied for effect from 12 and 24V, with higher gain achieved at 24V, but the lowest figure at 12V. A very RF quiet, well filtered linear power supply should be used, not a switching power supply, which connects to this mast-mounted preamplifier via a separate coaxial cable; a UHF female handles the power input. The LNA-30 handles the RF separately with Type-N female connectors for antenna and receiver. When power is removed the preamplifier turns of and no signal from the antenna passes, making this an "always on" broadband preamplifier. The LNA-30 may be mounted on masts up to 2.25 in. (58mm), is weatherproof, and should be placed outside, close to the receive antenna. This preamplifier cannot pass RF power and is not suitable for transmitting operations.

InnovAntennas 50-LFA-4-LN 4-Element 50 MHz Yagi

InnovAntennas 50-LFA-4-LN 4-Element 50 MHz Yagi was specifically designed for city use in noisy environments. This Loop-Fed model is optimized for front-to-back performance on relatively short boom of 11.15 ft. (3.40 meters), to reject as much local noise as possible. This antenna offers very good forward gain of 9.4 dBi (14.9 dBi at 10m above ground), and an exceptional 32 dB front-to-back rating, and SWR less than 1.4:1 across the 50-50.5 MHz range. The low profile LFA dipole achieves a significant reduction of noise, allowing clear reception of much weaker signals, a key component of operational improvements and success. The 50-LFA-4-N includes a center mount boom to mast clamp for up to 2 inch masts (50mm) and is a sleek 1.77 sq. ft. wind load, making this beam ideal for typical 6 meter stations. It is also excellent for stacking to maximize gain, especially when available space restricts the use of a longer boom Yagi. It features a 1.25 in. (32mm) 16-guage square aluminum tubing boom for rugged reliability and low weight. This antenna is made with 1/2 inch (12.7mm) element center sections and 3/8 inch (9.525mm) for the outer elements. The antenna has fully insulated elements which will ensure continuous, high performance for many years to come, regardless of the weather conditions. The introduction of the loop-shaped and phase-fed dipole achieves considerably fewer side lobes in the Yagi directional pattern. With less energy absorbed from the sides and from behind, these antennas are quieter than typical 4 element beams to achieve a higher 6 meter performance level. The 50 MHz Monoband LFA Yagis from G0KSC represent a significant advancement in the development of Yagi antennas. They provide a low-noise front-end for your radio, so you hear more signals. WiMo X-Quad Antennas

WiMo X-Quad Antennas, with separate monoband models for 144-146 MHz or 430-440 MHz, represent a refinement of VHF and UHF cross-polarized Yagis. They are well-known in Europe as "multi-element quads"—an antenna with aluminum elements, not a wire and fiberglass antenna—which offer excellent gain with a relatively short boom length. X-Quads are a great solution due to their short length and lightweight construction, especially for VHF/UHF satellite systems which require rotation in all compass directions and elevations. Two X-Quad Antennas, one for 144-146 MHz and one for 430-440 MHz, may be mounted at opposite ends of an azimuth-elevation rotator cross-boom for high-performance full duplex Satellite operations. For either or both bands, X-Quad Antennas may instead be used in a stationary mount, as pictured, for all-mode terrestrial operations. In either application, multiple X-Quad Antennas may be stacked vertically and horizontally for additional gain and tighter patterns. The WiMo X-Quad special features, developed specifically for Satellite Amateur Radio include: * Switchable Polarization Plane; horizontal/vertical/right hand circular/left hand circular (remote switching requires optional equipment) * High gain compared to other antenna forms due to the "stacking effect" * Short boom length and compact design * Back-end boom or mid-boom centered mounting to the mast is possible The radiator element is a "stacked quad" multi-element beam, for which linear polarization can be compared to a crossed slotted radiator. However, the advantage of the X-Quad is that it can be optimally used for the desired polarization by simply changing the feed. Compared to a typical cross-polarized Yagi, all directors and reflectors are active in the X-Quad, which enables the compact design. As with cross-polarized Yagis, switching is accomplished on the mono-band X-Quad either by a coaxial relay or with a band specific WiMo Remote Polarization Switch (sold separately). If the remote switch is mounted at the antenna, then only one coax cable and a 4-conductor control cable are required, sold separately. If the Switch is used at the station, then two coaxial cables from the antenna to the station are needed. The WiMo X-Quad Antenna can also be permanently set for circular operation by using an optional, band-specific Phase Line. The secondary elements are arranged diagonally in relation to the square-shaped driven element, which corresponds to the voltage distribution on the radiating element, for the most favorable results. In comparison to Yagi antennas, the X-Quad pattern and tuning are affected less by the influence of external fields, making them ideal for installation under a roof, in an attic space. All elements are electrically conductively connected with boom and cable outer sheath, thus eliminating interference from atmospheric noise. Two Type-N female coaxial connectors, one for each polarization, are mounted in a housing that is waterproof. Boom and elements are made of aluminum, all hardware is stainless steel. Construction and design of the antennas are protected by law (DBGM). The antennas are designed for boom-end mounting; however, alternatively the mast clamp can be mounted in the middle of a non-metallic boom. These antennas have a split boom, so their transport length is only 29.53 in. (75cm) for the 2m antenna and 25.59 in. (65cm) for the 70cm X-Quad. For portable operations they can be stowed away comfortably in the trunk of car and their shipping costs are comparatively low.

When installed in the appropriate location, RSEAV antennas provide significantly better weak signal reception than other active receive antennas and full-size transmit-capable antennas, with substantially reduced noise and lower spurious signal interference. Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas are intended to be mounted on a ground rod at ground level in a clear area away from all metal, towers and other antennas. They are sold individually (DXE-RSEAV-1), or with a bias tee (DXE-RSEAV-1FVI) and DXE-RSEAV-1 Receive Short Element Active Verticals set a new standard for "Active Receive Vertical Antennas" replacing legacy DXE-ARAV-3, ARAV-2, ARAV-1 and AL-24 versions. Use multiple DXE-RSEAV-1 for all 4 and 8 element DX Engineering Receive Arrays – all 3, 4 and 8 element Hi-Z Antennas Arrays – and 2 element receive arrays with DXE-NCC-2 and NCC-1 Variable Phasing Controllers. The DXE-RSEAV-1 is designed to be a very low-gain, low-noise antenna for greatly improved signal-to-noise performance over a very wide range of frequencies. In a proper single or multi-element array installation, this Receive Vertical antenna will attenuate high-angle skywave signals, which is the goal for a low band DXing receive antenna. Low-angle, long-range DX signals are easier to copy with a good radio and DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas. Please Note: To achieve the expected reception pattern, multi-element phased arrays depend upon identical gain and phase response from each element. Every individual element amplifier, its grounding, and even its feedline characteristics and length, must be identical to the others in the array. Therefore, when unrepairable failures occur, it is essential to replace or upgrade all the elements in the array with identical, fully compatible DXE-RSEAV-1 antennas or DXE-AVA-3 units.

DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems

DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems basically allow two Beverage antennas to be switched to receive in opposite directions while sharing the same physical space. DXE-RBSA-1P Reversible Beverage Systems antennas provide two opposite "end-fire" directional patterns with excellent front-to-rear directivity and superior signal-to-noise ratio as compared to transmitting antennas. Dramatically improved long distance weak signal results may be achieved on MW and the 160, 80 and 40 meter bands, including shortwave bands, with receive-only Beverage antennas using wires that are typically only 350 to 800 feet long, depending upon the band of interest. The two-direction DXE-RBSA-1P Reversible Beverage Systems offer a space and installation advantage because two opposite single-wire Beverage antennas would require twice the length. DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems are immune to the strong signal overload and core saturation common in multi-transmitter contesting environments and are used by winning contest stations and low-band DXers around the world. These Reversible Beverage antennas have two "F" connectors; one "Away" port for the default end-fire receiving pattern off the end of the wire, and one "Toward" port for the opposite direction. The standard configuration of these systems has the "Toward" port terminated (75-ohm termination included), so both antennas share a common feedline. Applying a negative 10 to 18V DC to the feedline switches the system between the two antenna ports for reception in opposite directions. For simultaneous reception from opposing directions, each of the two feedlines can be run to separate receivers, with the termination load not used. You can build a 4-direction receive antenna system with two DXE-RBSA-1P Reversible Beverage Systems and one DX Engineering RLS-2 Two-Port Receiving Switch that also requires only one feedline! The optional DX Engineering Feedline Voltage Coupler, model DXE-FVC-1 is highly recommended to provide all of the required feedline voltage injection. Plus, the optional DXE-EC-4 BCD Control Console completes the system for four-direction switching right in the shack. DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems are optimized to use our optional 450 ohm ladder line for the antenna element. We strongly recommend using that type of "window line" because the consistent spacing of the antenna wires will produce the best operational results. However, the RBS will work with any 300-600 ohm 2-wire line. For best feed line results, DX Engineering highly recommends using our high quality flooded or quad-shielded 75-ohm coax with F-type compression connectors to ensure a weatherproof installation. Additional features include: * Broad operating range, 0.2 to 30 MHz * Fully isolated grounds prevent common-made noise and unwanted signals * 75 ohm design enables the use of high quality, low cost cable and connectors * RF shielded housing used for isolation and improved life * Directional Switching Voltage: nominal 12V AC or negative 12V DC, feedline injected * Directional Switching Current: less than 80 mA * Antenna impedance: 300-600 ohm (450 ohm recommended) * Feedline impedance: 50-75 ohm (75 ohm recommended) * RBSA-1FP Feed Point unit dimensions: 5.5 in. width x 3.5 in. depth x 1.5 in. height * RBS-1RT Reflection Transformer unit dimensions: 2.125 in. width x 2.125 in. depth x 1.125 in. height Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. DX Engineering Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers

DX Engineering RCA8C-1 Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers are the highly sophisticated switch controller relay units from the Eight Circle Array Systems--the receiving systems that use time delay phasing--rather than the conventional narrow-band, frequency-dependent phasing, to provide eight 45 degree spaced directional patterns. The RCA8C time delay phasing is directivity-optimized to produce wider and deeper rear nulls and a narrower main lobe. The result is that noise and undesirable signals are greatly reduced for a superior front-to-rear ratio (F/R). Better control of phase and currents provides a cleaner pattern with the Receive 8 Circle than is available with vertical antenna transmit arrays. DX Engineering Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers are designed to be used with eight identical vertical active or passive vertical elements, symmetrically spaced in a large circle, to provide switching for an 8-direction receiving antenna system. Passive elements will generally provide you with a monoband receiving system. Finally, these systems offer greater reliability in receiving applications. Receive Eight Circle Array Controllers use sealed relays sized for receiving applications with silver contacts to prevent oxidation and contamination. Most transmitting four-square switches use large open-frame relays where the contacts are exposed to the air, which can lead to contamination. Relays with brass contacts can oxidize, leading to poor conductivity. Receive Eight Circle Array controllers feature: * W8JI design * Operation from 100 kHz to 30 MHz * Excellent directivity for better signal-to noise ratio * Switching console provides eight 45 degree spaced directions * Less physical space and maintenance required than phased Beverage antennas * Low current DC powered control console allows system operation without AC power mains The optional DX Engineering Eight Circle Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antenna Package, DXE-RSEAV-8, offers excellent receiving performance from 100 kHz to 30 MHz, while using only a 8.5 ft. (2.6m) aluminum vertical antenna elements. A unique design makes the Receive Eight Circle Array System vastly superior to traditional active vertical antennas in both strong signal handling and feedline decoupling. This results in significantly better weak signal reception due to lower spurious signal interference and reduced noise. DX Engineering RCA8C Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers are the foundation of your Eight Circle Array!

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits

DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits include plentiful quantities of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals that are easily soldered. Along with spools of the same wire as used by the most successful contest stations and DX enthusiasts for their ground-mounted vertical antennas, these kits will help your antenna system achieve optimal performance. The 16 AWG tinned solid copper wire in these kits provide an extremely cost effective solution for the high-count, full-size ground radial wire systems that are required for top-performing HF vertical antenna installations. Ground wire radials do not need to be any specific length because the earth detunes them. Fill your ground-mounted vertical space with radials that run out from the antenna feedpoint in all possible directions, as far as they can go, up to about one-quarter wavelength on the lowest frequency. Even radials that are all about one-eighth wavelength long on the lowest frequency band are just fine for multi-band verticals over reasonably conductive soils. Use longer radials on lossy soils with sand and rocks. In most cases, a greater number of short ground radials will provide greater efficiency and stronger signals than is achieved with a few long radials. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire Kits are available in four sizes: Shorter spool kits, 500 ft. and 1,000 ft., are perfect for the single HF ground-mounted vertical. Longer spool kits, 2,500 ft. and 5,000 ft., are intended for 2-element Dual Vertical Arrays, 3-element ProStack Arrays, and 4-element Four Square Array Systems. Each kit has the appropriate number of biodegradable staples and tinned crimp ring terminals. Why is this wire the absolute best choice for any ground-mounted vertical antenna? Because, DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire will last much longer in a variety of soil conditions as compared to bare copper, copper coated steel or aluminum wires. Radials deployed with those other wire types actually corrode and degrade rather quickly. Unfortunately, they do so slowly enough that the operator does not easily perceive that degradation in terms of antenna system performance. With Tinned Copper wire, full radial system integrity is maintained for a greater number of years. Depending upon soil type, installations with DXE-TCRW16 will maintain vertical antenna performance for many, many years… and even decades. NOTE: To prevent accelerated corrosion and the possibility of noise, DO NOT use metal anchor pins (lawn staples) on Tinned Copper Radial Wire. These kits contain only the DXE-STPL-100BD Biodegradable Anchor Pins to hold down bare wire radials. Biodegradable staples allow easy installation of radial wires and will disperse in a couple years, after they are no longer needed, making them site friendly. Biodegradable staples work best in soft ground where they may be pushed or lightly tapped into the ground. Since they are a lacto-resin material they are subject to breaking in rocky or hard soil and are not intended to be hammered. DX Engineering Tinned Copper Radial Wire kits are the right choice for long lasting top-performance radial systems for your ground-mounted vertical antenna system.

DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array Controllers

The patented DXE-RFS-3 DX Engineering Receive Four Square Array Controllers are the heart of a sophisticated receiving system that uses time delay phasing rather than the conventional narrow-band, frequency-dependent phasing systems. The time delay phasing is directivity-optimized to produce wider and deeper rear nulls and a narrower main lobe. The result is that noise and undesirable signals are greatly reduced for a superior front-to-rear ratio (F/R). Better control of phase and currents provides a cleaner pattern than those found on available transmit four square arrays. The RFS-3 DX Engineering Receive Four-Square Array Controllers are the switch relay units that are optimized to use the DX Engineering's Active Vertical Antenna Package DXE-ARAV4-4P of four active verticals. These products together offer great F/R response over octaves of bandwidth. DX Engineering's Active Receive Antenna System offers excellent receiving performance from 100 kHz to 30 MHz, while using only a 8.5 ft. antenna element. A unique design makes it vastly superior to traditional active antennas in both strong signal handling and feedline decoupling. This results in significantly better weak signal reception due to lower spurious signal interference and reduced noise. Finally, these systems offer greater reliability in receiving applications. The RFS-3s use sealed relays sized for receiving applications with silver contacts to prevent oxidation and contamination. Most transmitting four-square switches use large, open-frame relays where the contacts are exposed to air, which can lead to contamination. Relays with brass contacts can oxidize, leading to poor conductivity. Advantages of the RFS-3 Receive Four-Square Antenna Systems over other small or medium-size receiving arrays include: * Reduced susceptibility to high angle signals compared to EWE, Flag, Pennant, and K9AY antennas * Excellent directivity in a small space for better signal-to-noise ratio * Switchable in four 90 degree spaced directions * Directivity over a very wide frequency range using DX Engineering DXE-ARAV4-4P active elements * Less physical space required than a Beverage antenna, and active elements need only a minimal ground system * Enhanced relay contact reliability
