Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes

Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes. Mastrant offers these products for a variety of applications, from thin support lines used for wire antennas and beams, to rope guys for supporting small and portable masts and vertical antennas. When you need quality rope to install, replace, or modify your antenna systems, consider Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes, now available from DX Engineering.

Synthetic Textile Industries Antenna Support Rope

Synthetic Textile Industries Antenna Support Rope is the premium double-braided Dacron/polyester rope that Amateurs and SWLs have been using for years! Available in several sizes and spool lengths, these superior antenna support ropes are not weakened by decay or mildew and provide excellent resistance to abrasion. The color sealed black polyester yarn used in the braided jacket also protects the cord from damage due to ultra-violet light. Order some Antenna Support Rope today, so you will have it on hand for your next antenna project! This rope is perfect for supporting your wire and vertical antennas, but support rope should NOT be used for tower guying. For your tower guying needs, check out our Tower Guy Lines in the Tower Department here at www.DXEngineering.com

DX Engineering Multi-Band Dipole Antennas

DX Engineering Multi-Band Dipole Antennas are designs that are rugged, yet lightweight. Using a tuner, they are usable to 30 MHz and come complete with the wire elements, ladder feedline, center T support, and end mount brackets. These antennas are built using the highest quality components. They use 14 AWG stranded-copper, PVC jacketed elements for flexibility and strength and 100 ft. of 18 AWG 300-ohm 0.88 Velocity Factor ladder lines that are UV-resistant. Stainless steel hardware is included. Often, a 4:1 balun is suggested for multi-band dipoles; however, the best balun to use for this application is a 1:1 ratio. The 1:1 baluns provide better balance, have lower loss, and are more tolerant to load impedance and balance variations than other baluns. A tuner balun is not included in the dipole antenna kits and is available separately. The dipole center T support has pre-drilled holes for the attachment of the wire elements, feedline, and support or messenger lines. The center support top hole is used for the attachment of a "messenger line" that can be strung above the antenna wire and is used to provide support for the antenna wire and feedline. The use of the messenger line, which is strongly recommended but not included, will reduce the stress on the element wires and keep the antenna from stretching over time, which will change its resonant frequency. This line can be thin Synthetic Textile rope available from DX Engineering, which has a high breaking strength. Ideally, it should attach to the same structure used for the dipole, only above it, forming at least a 30 degree angle between the dipole and the messenger line. For further information and to decide the amount of rope you will need, please read the included instructions and check your wire antenna area of construction. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. When you lack the room for more than one antenna or need a multiband antenna for band agility, consider one of these DX Engineering Multi-Band Dipole Antennas as an elegant and economical solution!

DX Engineering EZ-BUILD® UWA8X Center-T and End Insulator Kits

DX Engineering EZ-BUILD® UWA8X Center-T and End Insulator Kits are designed for building coax fed wire antennas that will be used in medium to low-power operations. These new universal wire antenna building kits include a completely unique coaxial cable connector and feedline strain relief system. All EZ-BUILD® kits also include our lightweight, high strength, UV-protected center-T and end insulators. They feature an exclusive serpentine wire grip for insulated DX Engineering antenna wire and our high strength, high power 300 ohm ladder line. Threading the wire or window line through the center and end insulator openings in a serpentine manner creates a grip that is so strong, the wire ends do not need to be looped, wrapped, or soldered. EZ-BUILD® kits allow for fast and easy field adjustments! The DX Engineering EZ-BUILD® Center-T includes a centered, top, 3/8 in. hole for the attachment of an antenna support rope, and the End Insulators accept up to 5/16 in. antenna support rope. Our EZ-BUILD® kits simplify the construction of your wire antenna, with wire crimp terminals, stainless steel hardware, and a pre-assembled coax pigtail with connector and adapter that accepts your feedline PL-259 (UHF male) connector. The feedline is secured with the exclusive DX Engineering Coax Strain Relief which features an aluminum bracket, neoprene-cushioned P-clamps, and stainless steel hardware. This method supports the feedline without subjecting the connectors to the strain of the coaxial cable's weight or movement. DX Engineering EZ-BUILD® UWA8X Center-T and End Insulator Kits let you create any type of wire antennas, including single-band, multi-band, multi-frequency, folded dipole, doublet and inverted-V, off-center fed, Windom, Zepp, long wires, rhombic, V-beam, or loop antennas.
