DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems
Imagine adjusting the controls to knock out strong interfering stations or noise—and then being able to copy and log that weak DX station. By successfully combining the right antennas with the advanced phasing capabilities of the NCC-2, this is the operating thrill that every radio enthusiast can enjoy, again and again! DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems are variable phasing controllers that combine the 300 kHz- 30MHz received signals from one transmit antenna and one receive antenna, or from two dedicated receive antennas. Combining signals from two stationary antennas physically spaced 1/10 to 1/2 wavelength apart creates an array pattern with signal peaks and dips called nulls. Adjusting the NCC-2 Phase and Balance controls have the effect of electronically rotating or steering that pattern. Steering the null direction to significantly weaken a local or distant interfering signal or noise is known as "Noise Cancelling." This "Noise Cancelling Controller" (NCC-2) can dramatically enhance the reception of weak signals from non-null directions. This "reverse-beam" capability on radio frequencies AM Broadcast through HF can provide amazing benefits for many types of AM DX and SWL receiving and ham radio operating. Work new DX, hear the weak station in casual regional conversations, snag the rare multiplier in contests and hear beyond the noise and interference in dire circumstances. DX Engineering NCC-2 Phasing Systems now feature the built-in RTR Receive-Transmit Interface relay system that expands the exciting benefits of antenna phasing for interference reduction in two ways: * First, the NCC-2 can combine signals from the HF transmit antenna and a separate receive antenna to effectively notch-out strong stations or noise. Almost any Amateur can now enjoy the benefits of antenna phasing and noise-nulling, even those with space limitations for separating the receiving and transmitting antennas. * Second, the user of any standard HF transceiver that lacks a separate receive antenna input can have enhanced reception of noise and signal nulling with the DXE-NCC-2 and two antennas. Rear panel SO-239, F and BNC connectors make the NCC-2 extremely versatile and easy to connect to almost any receiver or HF transceiver up to 200 watts. Redesigned with plug-in modular circuit board sockets, the NCC-2 includes one switched and powered internal slot and two passive internal slots per channel to accommodate these new options: * DXE-RPA-2-PM Receive Preamplifier Plug-In Modules (powered): one per channel for low-signal passive antennas with poor ground conditions * DXE-RG5000HD-PM Receiver Guard 5000HD Plug-In Module (passive): Front-end protection for the NCC-2 and the receiver * DXE-IT-PM 75 to 50 ohm Impedance Transformer Plug-In Module (passive): to match 75 ohm RX ANT feedlines to NCC-2 50 ohm internal impedance * NCC-2 Receive Filter Sets (passive, non-switchable): High Pass, Band Pass and Low Pass Filters for 160, 80, 40 meters typically in stock, with other band filters available individually by special order. DX Engineering NCC-2 Receive Antenna Phasing Systems offer these new additional benefits: * Multi-Color Status Indicating LEDs for Power, RTR Mode and Preamp Power CH A and CH B * New Radio Key Line Input with RX Enable Output-RTR Failsafe to prevent RF damage to NCC-2 and RX equipment * New ACC Key Line Output RCA female 'ground on transmit' pass-through for Amplifier or Accessory * New screw-on 2.1mm DC connector to prevent accidental power cable pull-out * Operates on +13.8VDC @ 2A input to power the NCC-2 and internally jumper set Bias Tee on each RX ANT ports for coax fed Active Verticals and other accessories. DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems
DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four-Square Systems bring together the highest level of engineering excellence with the practical realities of operator convenience and ease of installation. These four-square hybrid systems are available in versions for the 160, 80, and 40 meter bands. They can be easily dropped into your quarter-wave spaced vertical 4-antenna array to provide optimum directional control. They allow the operator to receive or transmit with 5.5 dB gain in any one of four directions with a 20+ dB front-to-back ratio for interference reduction from unwanted directions. You can also switch to a single Omni-directional pattern with a push of a single button. This combination permits you to listen "all-around," unhindered by pattern nulls, and then select the best direction for signal reception and noise rejection. TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems are designed for use with four monoband vertical antennas placed at the corners of a square that is one-quarter wavelength on a side. The vertical element must be ungrounded and resonant in the desired band, and should be directly base-fed by the coaxial cable phasing lines from the centrally located controller (shunt-fed towers or radiating elements cannot be used). DX Engineering has several vertical antennas that are well suited for this application. Above all, a properly designed and installed radial system is necessary for top antenna performance, whether it's a single vertical or a full array. DX Engineering strongly recommends our optional Q75- series quarter wavelength cables constructed from our own high quality DXE-11U coax. It features a waterproof PE jacket, foam dielectric and has a velocity factor of 82 percent. These cables are electronically pruned to a precise electrical length derived from your choice of center operating frequency, terminated with hand-soldered silver-PTFE PL-259 connectors and weather-sealed with shrinkable tubing. Finally, each cable is tested for high voltage breakdown for maximum reliability and power handling. Since the transmit power is divided by the controller, the coaxial cable can handle QRO power with ease. If you already have a four-square array with a hybrid controller and would like to upgrade to improved performance and the Omni feature, the DX Engineering TFS4 Series B Transmit Four Square Systems are a direct transplant. BCD logic switching allows for the use of a 4-wire control cable to perform the necessary switching functions when powered by the included control console. DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas
DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas (the RSEAV Antennas) offer excellent low noise radio frequency reception from 40 kHz to 30 MHz. Better receiving performance than full-size transmit antennas and other active makes the DXE-RSEAV-1 the best choice on the market for VLF through HF reception, including long-distance AM broadcast, Medium Wave and Shortwave (SWL), and new low-frequency Amateur bands, DXing, contesting, and everyday HF operations. Click on a listed product title and Scroll Down to see additional important information. A complete product description appears below the Specifications Overview. Instruction manual links appear in the Documentation section. The sleek and stealthy DXE-RSEAV-1 includes a high-quality three-section 8.5 ft. (2.6m) aluminum tubing whip, insulated mounting plate and the completely new DXE-AVA-3 Active Matching Unit. Its state-of-the-art broadband operational amplifier design works as a high-impedance buffer between the short antenna element and RG6U 75-ohm coax. When installed in the appropriate location, RSEAV antennas provide significantly better weak signal reception than other active receive antennas and full-size transmit-capable antennas, with substantially reduced noise and lower spurious signal interference. Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas are intended to be mounted on a ground rod at ground level in a clear area away from all metal, towers and other antennas. They are sold individually (DXE-RSEAV-1), or with a bias tee (DXE-RSEAV-1FVI) and DXE-RSEAV-1 Receive Short Element Active Verticals set a new standard for "Active Receive Vertical Antennas" replacing legacy DXE-ARAV-3, ARAV-2, ARAV-1 and AL-24 versions. Use multiple DXE-RSEAV-1 for all 4 and 8 element DX Engineering Receive Arrays – all 3, 4 and 8 element Hi-Z Antennas Arrays – and 2 element receive arrays with DXE-NCC-2 and NCC-1 Variable Phasing Controllers. The DXE-RSEAV-1 is designed to be a very low-gain, low-noise antenna for greatly improved signal-to-noise performance over a very wide range of frequencies. In a proper single or multi-element array installation, this Receive Vertical antenna will attenuate high-angle skywave signals, which is the goal for a low band DXing receive antenna. Low-angle, long-range DX signals are easier to copy with a good radio and DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas. Please Note: To achieve the expected reception pattern, multi-element phased arrays depend upon identical gain and phase response from each element. Every individual element amplifier, its grounding, and even its feedline characteristics and length, must be identical to the others in the array. Therefore, when unrepairable failures occur, it is essential to replace or upgrade all the elements in the array with identical, fully compatible DXE-RSEAV-1 antennas or DXE-AVA-3 units.

SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers
SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers are low-noise, band-specific, weatherproof preamplifiers designed for installation near VHF and UHF antennas. Available for the 6 meter, 4 meter (Europe), 2 meter and 70 cm Amateur bands, these preamplifiers are installed in-line, at the antenna. They improve receive performance by amplifying weak signals before feedline loss can reduce them. Powering and Sequencing Most models can be powered remotely through the coaxial cable, and many modern transceivers include a built-in bias-tee for mast-mounted preamplifiers. If the transceiver or transverter system does not provide power, an external bias-tee or remote-feed unit is required. • The DCW-15 and DCW 2004B provide sequencing support. • The DCC-12 does not provide sequencing. • SP series preamplifiers include a built-in RF VOX circuit for safe operations up to 100 watts; for transmit power above 100 watts, PTT control with a sequencer is required. Some models require a direct DC connection (UHF female). • -S series preamplifiers feature lower current signal relays with slightly higher insertion loss. • MHP and MHP-S series preamplifiers versions require sequencer control (see below). Signal Filtering and Switching Built-in helix filters effectively reject out-of-band signals, helping maintain clean receive performance. Real coaxial relays handle transmit/receive switching, resulting in very low insertion loss (except for SP-S series). And each amplifier is carefully calibrated at multiple test stations before packaging. Dual-Band Models Dual-band models include built-in diplexers, so they require only one connection for the multiband antenna and one connection for the station coaxial cable. MHP Series for Demanding Stations The MHP series is designed for demanding operating environments and provides higher gain for weak-signal modes such as Tropo-DX and EME. With maximum transmit power handling of 1500 watts on 6m and 2000 watts on 2m and 70cm, these preamplifiers are well suited for contesting, DX, and EME operation. Important Note for MHP Models Bias-tee power (on the RF coax) is not supported in most MHP Preamplifiers. They must be powered directly using the appropriate cable size for the required distance, and they may only be operated with a correctly wired sequencer, such as the DCW 2004 B Sequence Controller. Transmitting high power without a directly wired sequencer is likely to damage the MHP preamplifier. Housing and Hardware All SSB Electronic Mast-Mount Preamplifiers are supplied in UV-resistant, weatherproof housings with Type N female connectors. Hot-dip galvanized clamps and stainless steel mounting hardware are included. See individual models for band coverage and detailed specifications.

NOTE: Manuals are normally supplied bilingual. If your manual lacks an English section, contact DX Engineering for an English version. IMPORTANT: EAntenna VHF and UHF Loop Fed Antennas are intended to be mounted horizontally for SSB and CW operation which is at the lower frequency end of the bands, NOT on FM. For example, the 2 meter LFA should be mounted horizontally and is tuned for use on 144-146 MHz and is not intended for FM use on 146-148 MHz. Additionally, the DK7ZB design EAntenna dual-band beams for 2 meters and 70 cm cover only 144-146 MHz and 420-440 MHz, the same European frequency range, and so they are not suitable for FM use in North America. EAntenna Cross Polarized LFA beams have both horizontal and vertical elements with only 144.0 - 144.5 MHz coverage designed specifically for EME or satellite enthusiasts.
