DX Engineering Radial Plates
DX Engineering Radial Plates are made of 304 Stainless Steel, 1/8 inch thick and 11.625 in. x 11.625 in. outside dimensions. They are made with the finest Stainless Steel that will last! Not cheap aluminum that will dissolve in your soil! ".....it is so beautiful, I want to frame it and put it up on the wall - not in the dirt under my vertical. Sebastian - NS0W" Unique enough to be covered by two US Patents, (Pat. No. 6,927,740 and D533,167), the DX Engineering Radial Plate is meant for those of you that have or are building a quarter wave vertical antenna and who want an easy, neat and effective way to connect those essential radial wires and the coax to your vertical antenna for the lowest takeoff angle and strongest signals. Stainless steel construction assures that your signal won't disappear like a disintegrating aluminum radial plate. One OPTIONAL SADDLE CLAMP (SOLD SEPARATELY) IS REQUIRED to mount the DX Engineering Radial Plate to a ground mounted antenna support pipe, also sold separately. For STEEL pipe from 1 to 2 in. O.D. the all-Stainless Steel DXE-SSVC-2P is the REQUIRED clamp, sold separately. For STEEL pipe from 2 to 3 in. O.D. the all-Stainless Steel DXE-SSVC-3P is the REQUIRED clamp, sold separately. For pipe or rod whose O.D. is between 0.50 in. and 1.75 in. the DXE-CAVS-11P V-saddle clamp is the REQUIRED clamp, sold separately. For aluminum tubing from 1 in.to 2 in. O.D., the DXE-CAVS-2P V-saddle clamp is the REQUIRED clamp, sold separately. This plate will work perfectly with most commercially available vertical antennas such as the Hustler BTV series (4BTV thru the 6BTV), the SteppIR (BiggIR or SmallIR) or an antenna of your own construction. When used with the Hy-Gain AV-18HT Hy-Tower antenna, the radial plate will sit on the concrete under the base plate and will fit within the three concrete-mounted base/insulator pipes. The DX Engineering Radial Plate has a number of advantages over the other plates on the market: First, the DX Engineering Radial Plate will attach easily and rigidly to a 4x4 or 6x6 wooden post using simple wood screws, or to a steel or aluminum pipe (up to 3.0 in. outside diameter) using an OPTIONAL SADDLE CLAMP, SOLD SEPARATELY, to attach to whatever you have supporting your vertical. Size and clamp selection is detailed above. Second, this plate actually has a place where you can attach your coax! What a concept! The plate assembly has been drilled for optional SO-239 Chassis Mount and Bulkhead Fittings. This is a MUST item for proper handling of RF ground current! Regardless of how you do it, it is imperative that your coax be grounded to the radials to complete the circuit for your radial current. Third, the DX Engineering Radial Plate is laser cut from tough stainless steel so that it has smooth edges, won't corrode and will always look good. You will be proud of how good your installation looks. Fourth, it is square. Why? Because a square has more lineal distance around it than the round plates that you usually see. This allowed us to put 60 holes in it, use larger bolts for more clamping power and still not crowd them together. Remember: The more current that flows in through your radials and through this plate, the stronger your signal is going to be and the more DX stations that you are going to hear. So, put on as many radials as you can. Fifth, we supply the correct Stainless Steel bolts, nuts, star washers, flat washers and lock washers to attach the radials. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. For the absolutely finest made radial plate available, order DX Engineering Radial Plates. Suggested as a station upgrade product - make more contacts to worldwide DX stations and DXpeditions

Butternut HF9V 9-Band Vertical Antennas
Butternut HF9V Vertical Antennas work nine popular bands--80 through 6 meters--with an extremely efficient vertical radiator that's only 26 ft. tall! The HF9V antennas are easy to erect and tune antennas that will last you for many years. An internationally acclaimed antenna design, Butternut HF9V antennas require a complete ground radial system. The antenna comes with a 1 1/8 in. base insulator and a 1 1/4 in. O.D. x 2 ft. mounting tube for direct placement into the earth. The preferred, "easiest-to-tune", high-performance installation is the ground mounted HF9V, which requires a bare minimum of 12 evenly spread, straight radial wires. Many more radials are better, with double the number of evenly spread radials achieving nearly double the efficiency and signal performance, an effect that tops out at about 60 ground radials. Each radial wire stapled onto the ground or run an inch or so below the soil surface, may be any length from 20 to 45 ft. Radial wires need to be up to 50 percent longer over sandy and rocky soil to maintain efficiency. Want to hear and work the stations that other operators seem to be working easily? Enjoy advanced operations on the HF bands with a high performance vertical antenna installation. Have more fun DXing with great signals on your Butternut HF9V 9-Band Vertical Antenna.

Hustler 6BTV 6-Band HF Vertical Antenna and DXE Installation Guide Packages
Hustler 6BTV 6-Band HF Vertical Antenna and DXE Installation Guide Packages are trapped-vertical antennas that provide an omni-directional pattern. 6BTVs were designed as self-supporting verticals to provide efficient operation in the 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 75 or 80 meter bands. These antennas perform well in restricted space areas. For peak performance, a field of radial wires should be used. Hustler 6-BTVs provide for automatic selection of bands through the use of optimum-Q traps which are individually and precisely tuned and internally sealed at the factory. These traps are parallel-tuned circuits, which provide very effective isolation between the vertical sections, permitting precise multi-band operation. Broadband operation, with low SWR over the entire ham band, (limited on 80 and 75 meters), is possible in a proper installation. These antennas were designed to provide optimum performance from both an electrical and mechanical standpoint. Mechanically, these antennas boast a heavy-duty base and heavy-duty aluminum tubing throughout. The mechanical assembly is accomplished with all stainless steel hardware. Performance provided by the Hustler 6BTVs is better than any other antenna of this type. Broad-banding is such that one measurement and setting permits both phone and CW operation. The antenna provides nominal 52-ohm base impedance when installed and tuned according to the instructions. The radiation efficiency is equal to, or greater than, other trap verticals. An optional DX Engineering Tilt Base allows the antennas to be easily brought down during non-operating times or for tuning and maintenance. Want a multi-band vertical antenna with a proven track record? Order Hustler 6BTV 6-Band HF Vertical Antenna and DXE Installation Guide Packages from DX Engineering!

DX Engineering Tilt Base Antenna Mounting Systems
The patented* DX Engineering Tilt Base Antenna Mounting Systems enable an operator to raise or lower an antenna in seconds, while leaving the base of the antenna securely attached to the mounting plate and post. DX Engineering Tilt Bases make it easy to tune your vertical, repair, or simply lower your antenna to a safe horizontal position long before bad weather hits. One person can install, raise and lower, and service their vertical antenna with our stainless steel Tilt Base; just walk it up or down. The Tilt Base prevents potential accidents when climbing a step ladder to tune the antenna, especially on soft ground. This is an essential tool that has helped countless hams eliminate the possibility of personal injury and damage to their ground-mounted vertical antenna. There is no need to remove brackets from the support posts and you will never again have to lift the entire weight of the antenna in order to tilt it down or tilt it up. Nearly two decades of customer comments about DX Engineering Tilt Bases (and the Radial Plate) have included "it's a work of mechanical art" and another exclaimed "...it's so gorgeous I don't want to mount it outside, I want to hang it on the wall!" Year after year, users are thankful for the amazing ease of the Lift, Slide and Tilt action of this antenna mount for making antenna adjustments simple. Recently, DX Engineering customer Michael, KO4VVH, said "I wondered why this bracket had a cost over $60, but when it arrived today I was blown away. Heavy duty doesn't do this beast justice. Heavy plate stainless steel and it is one of the best mounts I've ever owned. It's big and heavy... Ultra heavy duty. I will mount it up to my Hustler 5BTV HF antenna so I can drop it to ground level for maintenance, adjustments and SWR tweaks. Thank you!" Precision-cut from 3/16 in. 304 stainless steel, these Tilt Base Antenna Mounts are virtually indestructible. They conveniently mount to the same ground pipe or tubing that you use for the antenna and Radial Plate. You could use lag screws or carriage bolts to mount the Tilt Base and the Radial Plate to a wood post, but typically they are securely mounted to a 2 in. max. OD pipe using optional SSVC-2P saddle clamps, displayed in "Required Parts". There are five versions of the DX Engineering Tilt Base Antenna Mounting Systems kit designed for a variety of HF antenna types: DXE-TB-3P: Specifically designed with included stainless steel hardware to mate with the antenna mounting bracket of the Hustler 4, 5 or 6 BTV vertical antennas. DXE-TB-4P: This Tilt Base model provides a mounting plate and clamps for tilting a customer supplied antenna support mast up to 1.75 in. OD and 10 ft. tall, for mounting elevated no-radial vertical antennas that weigh less than or equal to 20 pounds, and have a height of no more than 28 ft. The Vertical antennas and mast assemblies must be adequately guyed. Precautions must be taken when raising or lowering to avoid undue lateral stress on the tilt mechanism. The TB-4P is the tilt option for legacy DX Engineering vertical antenna models DXE-30VE-1, DXE-40-VE-1 and DXE-40VA-1. See the DXE-TB-7P below for the replacement COM-30VA and COM-40VA Monoband Vertical Antennas. DXE-TB-6P: Is specifically designed to mate to the antenna mounting bracket of the Hy-Gain AV-14AVQ (HGN-AV-14AVQ). This special tilt base mounting system includes stainless steel hardware that allows the AV-14AVQ to be closer to ground level for maximum performance. DXE-TB-7P: Is specifically designed to mate to the COMTEK 30 Meter (COM-30VA) and 40 Meter (COM-40VA) Vertical Antennas. DXE-TB-8P: Is specifically designed to mate to the COMTEK 20 Meter Vertical Antennas (COM-20VA) which may be tuned to resonate on one band, 20, 17, 15, 12, or 10 meters. DX Engineering OMNI-TILT™ Vertical Antenna Tilt Bases
DX Engineering OMNI-TILT™ Vertical Antenna Tilt Bases are a completely new design that incorporates features that make this Tilt Base a 'must-have' for all types of vertical antennas. The OMNI-TILT™ is patterned on the same proven safe technology as the patented DX Engineering SAF-T-TILT™ and the patented DXE-TB-3P Tilt Bases, that are designed to prevent the antenna from falling when the fasteners are loosened. The user simply lifts the OMNI-TILT™ base plate and this positive action disengages the bolts from the top slot, which allows the user to easily and safely walk the ground-mounted antenna up or down for tuning, maintenance, stealth antenna stowing, or in the event extreme weather is on the way. Order one of these OMNI-TILT™ models for your vertical antenna system: DXE-OMNITILT-1P for Hustler BTV Series and Hy-Gain AVQ Series Trap Vertical Antennas--Both antenna types use the supplied DXE-TVA-HWK Trap Vertical Mounting Hardware kit. DXE-OMNITILT-2P for Elevated Mount Verticals, include Cushcraft R8, R9, Hy-Gain AV-640, MFJ, GAP and many other antennas for HF and VHF – DXE-OTMC-250P Clamps (2) are included for customer-supplied upper antenna support tubing or pipe of 1.25 to 2.50 in. OD. NOTE: Both models REQUIRE two (2) optional DXE-OTMC-250P clamps to attach the non-tilt part of OMNI-TILT™ to a user-supplied lower Mast Pipe of 1 1/4 to 2 1/2 in. O.D. The ability to attach this tilt base and your antenna to a pipe from 1 1/4 up to 2 1/2 in. is an important new feature of the OMNI-TILT™. Alternatively, all OMNI-TILT™ models may be mounted on a 4 x 4 in. or larger wooden post with user-supplied attachment hardware; typically lag screws. This is why the DXE-OTMC-250P clamps for the non-tilt portion are NOT SUPPLIED, as they would be unused with wood-post installation and at added expense. DX Engineering OMNI-TILT™ bases are custom made from laser cut 1/8 in. thick Stainless Steel for strength and durability. All of the hardware used in the OMNI-TILT™ Base is Stainless Steel to ensure long and dependable service. The DX Engineering OMNI-TILT™ is a 2-piece assembly of stainless steel U-shaped plates. As noted above, the OMNI-TILT™ rear plate is typically mounted to your 1.25 in. to 2.50 in. steel pipe using the optional DXE-OTMC-250P Mounting Clamps, purchased separately for either model. The OMNI-TILT™ front plate pivots on a pair of high-strength bolts. Both plates have extra holes to allow a wide range of optional mounting hardware to maximize the use of the OMNI-TILT™ for many types of vertical antennas. For example, on both models OMNITILT -1P or -2P, the rear plate may be mounted with your hardware to a wood post, and the front plate accommodates other types of clamps for other antennas. WiMo ATAS 100/120 HF Counterpoise Kits
WiMo ATAS 100/120 HF Counterpoise Kits improve the performance of the ATAS-100 and ATAS-120 antennas when they are used as stationary or portable antennas. The well-known ATAS-100 and ATAS-120 antennas from YAESU were developed as vehicle antennas, but because of their compactness they are often used as portable or stationary antennas. Unfortunately, a balcony railing or the magnetic base alone are typically not sufficient to provide optimal results, so the use of a counterpoise system such as the WiMo ATAS-FGG is useful. The ATAS-FGG counterpoise kit consists of a solid aluminum ring that is attached directly to the ATAS-100 or ATAS-120 antenna with clamping screws and can remain on the ATAS during alternating mobile or stationary use. Eight aluminum radial elements are screwed into the ring and has an overall diameter of 13.12ft. (4m) when fully assembled. If space is not an issue, you can also connect one or more wire radials for the 40m band. NOTE - This counterpoise kit should only be used when stationary and is not intended for mobile use when the vehicle is in motion.

DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits
Some vertical antenna manufacturers indicate that their antennas do not need guying. During times of high winds or ice loading, however, some of these vertical antennas may sustain damage or fail altogether. With the small amount of effort needed to install one of these DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits, the risk hardly seems worth taking. They feature a 4-point guying scheme that provides the best mechanical advantage to prevent wind stress, regardless of direction. The guying is intended for stability only and should never be depended on for primary support. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits are especially recommended for use with DX Engineering tilt bases, because just one of the guy ropes has to be loosened when you tilt the vertical down. The remaining guys help to stabilize the vertical in three directions when being raised. These kits have been designed to be used with ground-mounted quarter-wavelength vertical antennas, such as DX Engineering monoband and multiband verticals and the Hustler 4, 5, and 6-BTV models. Using the DX Engineering vertical antenna guying kits, you can install four guy ropes approximately halfway up the vertical antenna system to ground level and angled at approximately 45 degrees. Guying should be tightened just enough to permit the antenna to swing a few inches. The ends of the ropes are tied to the earth anchors that are screwed into the ground at about the same angle as the ropes. Tie the other ends of the ropes to the vertical antenna just above one of the antenna element clamps or traps (a guying ring is not required). Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. The DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Guying Kits are available in different lengths to fit your varying vertical antenna needs.

Butternut 160 Meter Add-On Kits
Butternut 160 Meter Add-On Kit BUT-TBR-160X is designed specifically for the Butternut HF9V, HF6V and HF2V HF Vertical models. It is a parallel tuned circuit that consists of a coil and four high voltage RF capacitors with custom mounting plates, brackets and clamps. This assembly is installed at the base of the BUTTERNUT® HF Vertical antennas to achieve operation on 160 meters. This new design by DX Engineering incorporates four larger capacitors mounted between two aluminum plates. These new capacitor plates act as heat sinks, to reduce frequency drift when the components heat up under RF power and environmental conditions. Recommended maximum 160M power is 1,000W PEP SSB, 500W CW, 150W Digital (FT8, FT4, RTTY, etc). IMPORTANT NOTES • Your Butternut vertical antenna must be properly tuned on all bands PRIOR to adding this 160 meter kit. A very good radial system is a requirement for reasonable performance on all bands, but especially on the 160 meter band. Due to the effect of the installed 160 meter kit, the other bands will need to be retuned and the original shunt coil will require significant adjustment. • SWR bandwidth on 160 meters is very narrow. When tuning the antenna with an analyzer connected to the antenna matching section coax, choose the EXACT frequency you desire. DO NOT use any antenna tuner to operate on an off-resonance frequency above 2:1 SWR. Use of an antenna tuner is not possible because this is a very high-Q antenna inductor and capacitor combination that will not tolerate overheating. • Prolonged tune-up at maximum power levels must be avoided. Exceeding these levels may cause damage to the antenna, amplifier or transceiver. The TBR-160X functions as an inductive reactance in series with the antenna feedpoint, loading the antenna structure to resonate in the 160 meter band. On the higher bands the TBR-160X produces decreasing values of capacitive reactance, raising the resonant frequency (by 300-400 kHz) on 80 & 40 meters. Above 7 MHz this detuning is negligible and the antenna can be adjusted on all bands to compensate, as needed. In general, the only compromise that one must accept for the sake of 160 meter operation is reduced SWR bandwidth on 80 meters and to a lesser extent, on 40 meters with the HF2V/6V/9V. The TBR-160X SWR bandwidth of 2:1 or less on 160 meters will depend to a large extent on the efficiency of the ground system used with the antenna; 10 kHz is a typical figure with a fair-to-good ground system and a relatively short antenna such as the HF6V/9V. With the longer HF2V, especially if top loading "umbrella" wires are used, SWR bandwidths of 15 to 35 kHz between 2:1 points are possible. Even if greater bandwidths are possible with poorer, higher loss ground systems, performance would suffer. The best possible ground systems should always be used with electrically short loaded antennas. Since the Butternut verticals are very short antennas for 160 meters, full-size antenna performance should not be expected. A critical component of this type of antenna system is a very good radial system; 30 to 60 or more radials of 45 to 65 feet each is a requirement. Even at best the bandwidth will be very narrow so when tuning for 160 meters, you will have to determine which frequency in the band you want to use.
