DX Engineering RTR-2 Modular Receive-Transmit Interfaces

DX Engineering RTR-2 Modular Receive-Transmit Interfaces provide the easiest and safest method for connecting a dedicated receive antenna to an HF transceiver that does not have a separate receive antenna input. Placed inline with the transceiver's antenna connector, the RTR-2 does the job of a 200 watt T/R relay using the amplifier keying line for failsafe protection, so your transmitted energy cannot go to the receive antenna. Three internal Plug-in Module option slots provide added features and protection: * DXE-RPA-2-PM Receive Preamplifier Plug-in Module * DXE-TRI-PM Transmit Receive Interrupter Plug-In Module * DXE-IT-PM 75 to 50 ohm Impedance Transformer Plug-in Module DX Engineering RTR-2 Modular Receive-Transmit Interfaces allow the standard transceiver owner to enjoy the advantages of separate receive antennas. For the unswitched receive antenna (RX ANT) port on expensive transceivers, the RTR-2 interface also adds inexpensive failsafe protection. The receive antenna line can be opened or grounded with the optional DXE-TRI-PM Interrupter plug-in module. The RTR-2 is a very useful device for many applications, including: * Connection of external receiving antennas to transceivers lacking external antenna ports * T-R antenna switch for older equipment using separate transmitters and receivers * Interfacing antennas to older phasing or noise cancelling systems * Addition of a switchable receive preamplifier to any transceiver or transmitter and receiver combination * Excellent failsafe receiver protection for close-spaced transmit and receive antennas, without performance degradation of diode circuits of other devices. RTR-2 units feature a unique, failsafe connection method that prevents the hot switching and timing errors that are common on other transmit/receive relays. RTR-2 interfaces switch fast enough for partial break-in CW operation. There are many simple applications for the new RTR-2 and now internal modules can add dramatically improved reception of those really weak signals on the crowded HF bands! DX Engineering RTR-2 Modular Receive-Transmit Interfaces enable operators to enjoy improved reception with any low noise receiving antenna system. This shielded enclosure relay system provides a safe method of connecting a receive antenna, such as a Beverage, Active Receive system, or other receiving accessories to your radio. Major features that make the DX Engineering RTR-2 Receive Antenna Interfaces your best choice for a receive T/R system device: * New Status Indicating Color-changing LEDs * Three internal slots for new DX Engineering modules * New Key Line Out connector for Amplifier * New internal jumper for placing DC on the Receive Antenna feedline for Active or Loop receive antennas * Attractive and heavy stainless steel enclosure * 200 watts RF switching capability * Supports CW partial break-in * Main transmit antenna connector is SO-239 (UHF female) * Radio RF connector is SO-239 (UHF female) * Receive antenna input is 75 ohm F connector * Receive outputs are standard 75 ohm Type F connectors * Inputs are 50 ohm BNC or 75 ohm F (Optional transformer module available) * Safe switching--transmit antenna is always connected to transceiver on power-off * Hot switching lockout--disables receive antenna during transmit mode (Optional DXE-TRI-PM can be set to short the RX ANT line) * Versatile--allows inclusion of Optional RF preamplifiers and other plug-in modules * Simple 13.8 Vdc input for all operations An indispensable accessory for the DX enthusiast and useful for any Amateur's shack, DX Engineering RTR-2 Modular Receive-Transmit Interfaces can help you expand and improve your station's antenna connections and the protection of your equipment.

DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas

DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas (the RSEAV Antennas) offer excellent low noise radio frequency reception from 40 kHz to 30 MHz. Better receiving performance than full-size transmit antennas and other active makes the DXE-RSEAV-1 the best choice on the market for VLF through HF reception, including long-distance AM broadcast, Medium Wave and Shortwave (SWL), and new low-frequency Amateur bands, DXing, contesting, and everyday HF operations. Click on a listed product title and Scroll Down to see additional important information. A complete product description appears below the Specifications Overview. Instruction manual links appear in the Documentation section. The sleek and stealthy DXE-RSEAV-1 includes a high-quality three-section 8.5 ft. (2.6m) aluminum tubing whip, insulated mounting plate and the completely new DXE-AVA-3 Active Matching Unit. Its state-of-the-art broadband operational amplifier design works as a high-impedance buffer between the short antenna element and RG6U 75-ohm coax. When installed in the appropriate location, RSEAV antennas provide significantly better weak signal reception than other active receive antennas and full-size transmit-capable antennas, with substantially reduced noise and lower spurious signal interference. Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas are intended to be mounted on a ground rod at ground level in a clear area away from all metal, towers and other antennas. They are sold individually (DXE-RSEAV-1), or with a bias tee (DXE-RSEAV-1FVI) and DXE-RSEAV-1 Receive Short Element Active Verticals set a new standard for "Active Receive Vertical Antennas" replacing legacy DXE-ARAV-3, ARAV-2, ARAV-1 and AL-24 versions. Use multiple DXE-RSEAV-1 for all 4 and 8 element DX Engineering Receive Arrays – all 3, 4 and 8 element Hi-Z Antennas Arrays – and 2 element receive arrays with DXE-NCC-2 and NCC-1 Variable Phasing Controllers. The DXE-RSEAV-1 is designed to be a very low-gain, low-noise antenna for greatly improved signal-to-noise performance over a very wide range of frequencies. In a proper single or multi-element array installation, this Receive Vertical antenna will attenuate high-angle skywave signals, which is the goal for a low band DXing receive antenna. Low-angle, long-range DX signals are easier to copy with a good radio and DX Engineering Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antennas. Please Note: To achieve the expected reception pattern, multi-element phased arrays depend upon identical gain and phase response from each element. Every individual element amplifier, its grounding, and even its feedline characteristics and length, must be identical to the others in the array. Therefore, when unrepairable failures occur, it is essential to replace or upgrade all the elements in the array with identical, fully compatible DXE-RSEAV-1 antennas or DXE-AVA-3 units.

ELAD ASA16 Amplified Antenna Splitters

ELAD ASA16 Amplified Antenna Splitters are designed to distribute the signal from one antenna to up to six different receivers simultaneously. These six outputs are isolated to prevent interference from mismatches, but they do not provide any amplification. A switchable attenuator reduces the input signal by 15dB. A notable feature is the PTT input. When engaged, all receiver ports are isolated by more than 60dB (at 12MHz) from the input. This reliably protects even the most sensitive inputs. The integration into a ham radio station is made easy due to the same switching polarity of most transceivers, when keyed, the PTT output switches to ground. All coaxial connectors on the ASA16 are BNC female, and all inputs and outputs are designed for a 50-Ohm impedance. Three LEDs on the front show the current state of the ASA16: On/Off, Attenuator and PTT state. The ASA16 requires a 12VDC 300mA power supply (not included). The PTT connector is a stereo 1/8in. (3.5mm) male plug. The enclosure is made from brushed aluminum, with solid rubber padding. Upgrade your RX antenna distribution system with the ELAD ASA16 Amplified Antenna Splitter, ensuring reliable and high-quality signal reception across multiple receivers.

ELAD ASA62 Amplified Antenna Splitters

ELAD ASA62 Amplified Antenna Splitters are designed to distribute the signal from six antennas to two different receivers simultaneously. A powerful Amateur Radio or SWL station requires multiple antennas to optimally cover each frequency range. The ASA62 Amplified Antenna Splitters from ELAD (Italy) allows you to distribute up to six antennas to two receivers. Each input is buffered by a very low-noise amplifier (AD8099), ensuring that the signals do not interfere with each other. By doing so, the signal from one antenna can be sent to both receivers simultaneously. Switching is done via relays, not PIN diodes, to avoid unwanted signal distortion. Operation is straightforward with push buttons on the front panel, and LEDs built into the buttons clearly indicate their status. Alternatively, the ASA62 can be operated remotely, with free software available for download on the Microsoft Windows platform. The frequency range is 9kHz to 70MHz, all connectors are BNC female, and the impedance is 50 Ohms. A DC power supply cable is included. Note that the ASA62 is not suitable for transmitting.

DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems

DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems basically allow two Beverage antennas to be switched to receive in opposite directions while sharing the same physical space. DXE-RBSA-1P Reversible Beverage Systems antennas provide two opposite "end-fire" directional patterns with excellent front-to-rear directivity and superior signal-to-noise ratio as compared to transmitting antennas. Dramatically improved long distance weak signal results may be achieved on MW and the 160, 80 and 40 meter bands, including shortwave bands, with receive-only Beverage antennas using wires that are typically only 350 to 800 feet long, depending upon the band of interest. The two-direction DXE-RBSA-1P Reversible Beverage Systems offer a space and installation advantage because two opposite single-wire Beverage antennas would require twice the length. DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems are immune to the strong signal overload and core saturation common in multi-transmitter contesting environments and are used by winning contest stations and low-band DXers around the world. These Reversible Beverage antennas have two "F" connectors; one "Away" port for the default end-fire receiving pattern off the end of the wire, and one "Toward" port for the opposite direction. The standard configuration of these systems has the "Toward" port terminated (75-ohm termination included), so both antennas share a common feedline. Applying a negative 10 to 18V DC to the feedline switches the system between the two antenna ports for reception in opposite directions. For simultaneous reception from opposing directions, each of the two feedlines can be run to separate receivers, with the termination load not used. You can build a 4-direction receive antenna system with two DXE-RBSA-1P Reversible Beverage Systems and one DX Engineering RLS-2 Two-Port Receiving Switch that also requires only one feedline! The optional DX Engineering Feedline Voltage Coupler, model DXE-FVC-1 is highly recommended to provide all of the required feedline voltage injection. Plus, the optional DXE-EC-4 BCD Control Console completes the system for four-direction switching right in the shack. DX Engineering Reversible Beverage Systems are optimized to use our optional 450 ohm ladder line for the antenna element. We strongly recommend using that type of "window line" because the consistent spacing of the antenna wires will produce the best operational results. However, the RBS will work with any 300-600 ohm 2-wire line. For best feed line results, DX Engineering highly recommends using our high quality flooded or quad-shielded 75-ohm coax with F-type compression connectors to ensure a weatherproof installation. Additional features include: * Broad operating range, 0.2 to 30 MHz * Fully isolated grounds prevent common-made noise and unwanted signals * 75 ohm design enables the use of high quality, low cost cable and connectors * RF shielded housing used for isolation and improved life * Directional Switching Voltage: nominal 12V AC or negative 12V DC, feedline injected * Directional Switching Current: less than 80 mA * Antenna impedance: 300-600 ohm (450 ohm recommended) * Feedline impedance: 50-75 ohm (75 ohm recommended) * RBSA-1FP Feed Point unit dimensions: 5.5 in. width x 3.5 in. depth x 1.5 in. height * RBS-1RT Reflection Transformer unit dimensions: 2.125 in. width x 2.125 in. depth x 1.125 in. height Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. DX Engineering Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers

DX Engineering RCA8C-1 Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers are the highly sophisticated switch controller relay units from the Eight Circle Array Systems--the receiving systems that use time delay phasing--rather than the conventional narrow-band, frequency-dependent phasing, to provide eight 45 degree spaced directional patterns. The RCA8C time delay phasing is directivity-optimized to produce wider and deeper rear nulls and a narrower main lobe. The result is that noise and undesirable signals are greatly reduced for a superior front-to-rear ratio (F/R). Better control of phase and currents provides a cleaner pattern with the Receive 8 Circle than is available with vertical antenna transmit arrays. DX Engineering Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers are designed to be used with eight identical vertical active or passive vertical elements, symmetrically spaced in a large circle, to provide switching for an 8-direction receiving antenna system. Passive elements will generally provide you with a monoband receiving system. Finally, these systems offer greater reliability in receiving applications. Receive Eight Circle Array Controllers use sealed relays sized for receiving applications with silver contacts to prevent oxidation and contamination. Most transmitting four-square switches use large open-frame relays where the contacts are exposed to the air, which can lead to contamination. Relays with brass contacts can oxidize, leading to poor conductivity. Receive Eight Circle Array controllers feature: * W8JI design * Operation from 100 kHz to 30 MHz * Excellent directivity for better signal-to noise ratio * Switching console provides eight 45 degree spaced directions * Less physical space and maintenance required than phased Beverage antennas * Low current DC powered control console allows system operation without AC power mains The optional DX Engineering Eight Circle Receive Short Element Active Vertical Antenna Package, DXE-RSEAV-8, offers excellent receiving performance from 100 kHz to 30 MHz, while using only a 8.5 ft. (2.6m) aluminum vertical antenna elements. A unique design makes the Receive Eight Circle Array System vastly superior to traditional active vertical antennas in both strong signal handling and feedline decoupling. This results in significantly better weak signal reception due to lower spurious signal interference and reduced noise. DX Engineering RCA8C Receive 8 Circle Array Controllers are the foundation of your Eight Circle Array!

DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets

DX Engineering announces a series of NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets, a breakthrough option for owners of the NCC-1 Receive Antenna Phasing Unit. These advanced plug-in filter module sets offer frequency-specific receive antenna system enhancements for the NCC-1. All filter modules sets are available in matched pairs of low-pass, band-pass and high-pass frequency ranges. Filter cut-off and center frequencies correspond to the major Amateur bands, 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters, with filter module insertion loss of only about 1 dB. Highly regarded by many owners and engineers to be the best receive phasing and noise canceling unit available, the DX Engineering NCC-1 is used extensively by enthusiasts in Amateur Radio DXing, Contesting, AM DXing, and Short-Wave Listening (SWL), and is also used in commercial AM and HF broadcast applications. DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets add a new dimension of functionality to the NCC-1, for advanced directional noise and signal nulling performance, enhanced with specific frequency range operations. By default, NCC-1 filter slots are jumpered to pass all signals. On the NCC-1 front panel, the BAND toggle switch "L" or "H" positions each activate one of two filter pair slots, allowing over 360 degrees of phase rotation in two frequency ranges. The BAND switch "L" position covers from 850 kHz to 8 MHz. The BAND switch "H" position covers from 2 MHz to 15 MHz. Frequencies outside these ranges will have less than 360 degrees of phase rotation. NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets must be placed into the proper BAND filter slots corresponding to desired usage. NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets are pairs of filters (2 of the same type), so both NCC-1 receive antenna inputs "A" and "B" exhibit the same pass-band characteristics. Band-pass, high-pass or low-pass filters are available for users to choose and install into their NCC-1 for their desired application. By reducing or excluding frequency-specific interfering noise and signals, the noise floor of the desired pass-band can be lowered for dramatically improved reception. You can install one set or two sets, depending on your desired filtering. NCC-1 "L" and "H" slots may be populated with pairs of band-pass, high-pass, or low-pass filters to suit the specific signal rejection needs of the discerning operator. As an example, an 80 meter DX enthusiast may elect to install two 80 meter band pass NCC-1 Receive Filters, part number DXE-NCCFL-BPF80M, into their NCC-1 "L" BAND slots. This would dedicate their NCC-1 to 80 meter-only operations. Setting the BAND switch to "L" would dramatically reduce noise and signals from outside the 80 meter band, very effectively excluding interference from nearby AM Broadcast, 160 and 40 meter stations. A much lower noise floor on 80 meters could be achieved for dramatically enhanced reception of weak 80 meter DX signals. An additional pair of filters could be installed into the "H" BAND slots, to enhance reception on the higher HF bands. For example, installing 20 meter high pass filters, part number DXE-NCCFL-HP20M, and switching to BAND H would drastically reduce all received noise and signals from frequencies below 13.70 MHz. With advanced planning of additional filter availability, an NCC-1 owner could even swap different filter sets for optimal operations in different contests or band pursuits. Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. All NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets displayed here are also conveniently listed on a single page in the link tab called "Documentation." Order one or two DX Engineering NCC-1 Receive Filter Sets for your unit and enjoy the best possible performance from your NCC-1.
