DX Engineering Receiver Guard Electronic RF Limiters

DX Engineering Receiver Guard RG5000HD Electronic RF Limiters are the best choice of inline devices to protect your receiver antenna inputs. The Receiver Guard is a receive antenna input limiter specifically designed to protect a sensitive receiver front-end against high levels of RF and potential damage. At the heart of each Receiver Guard is a highly effective electronic RF limiter covering 500 kHz to 150 MHz with an insertion loss under 0.15 dB up to 50 MHz and under 0.30 dB up to 150 MHz. The multi-stage design includes a gas discharge tube for maximum pulse energy protection. The DXE-RG5000HD rejects 10 watts of catastrophic receive antenna feedline RF while passing a maximum signal of about 87 dB over S-9, which is only 25 mw, a signal level that is well below the point of front end damage. Receiver Guards are a must for multiple radio contesting stations and they provide low-cost front-end "insurance." Use them in these common high-RF situations: - Receive antennas in very close proximity to transmit antennas - Field-day operations with many transmitters in close range - Multi-transmitter contesting sites - Neighboring Amateur and CB operators - Frequent high-power mobile encounters Extensively tested and proven in real-world stations, the Receiver Guard works for all radios and offers the ultimate performance required by the upper tier of transceivers tested to have the best narrow-spaced third-order dynamic range or published RMDR (Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range). These are passive electronic limiters, so competitive contesting stations use separate band filters in addition to the Receiver Guard. When there are high levels of RF on your receive antennas, the DX Engineering Receiver Guard generates far less harmonic noise than other limiters on the market, which allows your station to continue to operate safely and competitively. At normal HF signal levels the RG5000HD operates continuously with no effect on the performance of your station while providing the best possible protection for your radio. Here are key Receiver Guard features: * Keeps stray high levels of RF from damaging your receiver input * Ideal for separate 160 and/or 80 meter receive systems with large pulse and RF energy capture area * Uses state of the art components for maximum protection of receivers * Under 6 ns response time * Multi-Stage protection * Very low insertion loss * Uses BNC type connectors to avoid accidental connection to a transmit feedline * Has been developed and tested in world-recognized multi-multi contest station K3LR Specifications - DX Engineering Receiver Guard model DXE-RG-5000HD - Frequency Range: 0.5 through 150 MHz - Insertion Loss: < 0.15 dB up to 50 MHz, < 0.3 dB 50 MHz up to 150 MHz - VSWR: < 1.2:1 - Maximum Output Level at 10 W input: +14 dBm (0.025 W) - Maximum Power Handling: 10 W CCS (Continuous Commercial Service) - Device Impedance: 50 to 75 ohms, unbalanced - Connectors, Input and Output: BNC female Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" tab is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information. What happens if the receive antenna is extremely close to the transmit antenna, or there is an antenna support or other system failure that causes a high RF level to enter the receive antenna input? Hustler 6BTV 6-Band HF Vertical Antenna and DXE® Installation Guide Packages

Hustler 6BTV 6-Band HF Vertical Antenna and DXE® Installation Guide Packages are trapped-vertical antennas that provide an omni-directional pattern. 6BTVs were designed as self-supporting verticals to provide efficient operation in the 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 75 or 80 meter bands. These antennas perform well in restricted space areas. For peak performance, a field of radial wires should be used. Hustler 6-BTVs provide for automatic selection of bands through the use of optimum-Q traps which are individually and precisely tuned and internally sealed at the factory. These traps are parallel-tuned circuits, which provide very effective isolation between the vertical sections, permitting precise multi-band operation. Broadband operation, with low SWR over the entire ham band, (limited on 80 and 75 meters), is possible in a proper installation. These antennas were designed to provide optimum performance from both an electrical and mechanical standpoint. Mechanically, these antennas boast a heavy-duty base and heavy-duty aluminum tubing throughout. The mechanical assembly is accomplished with all stainless steel hardware. Performance provided by the Hustler 6BTVs is better than any other antenna of this type. Broad-banding is such that one measurement and setting permits both phone and CW operation. The antenna provides nominal 52-ohm base impedance when installed and tuned according to the instructions. The radiation efficiency is equal to, or greater than, other trap verticals. An optional DX Engineering Tilt Base allows the antennas to be easily brought down during non-operating times or for tuning and maintenance. Want a multi-band vertical antenna with a proven track record? Order Hustler 6BTV 6-Band HF Vertical Antenna and DXE® Installation Guide Packages from DX Engineering!

Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes

Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes are available in several sizes and strength ratings, perfect for support of wire antennas, vertical antennas and antenna masts, as well as support of Yagi booms and elements. Mastrant ropes are of the highest quality for strength and are UV-protected for extended longevity. MASTRANT-O is a highly reflective rope (bright orange plus braided reflective tape) based on long-term proven Polyester (Dacron) product line. It is designed for maximum visibility in public places such as Field Day and POTA activities. Like all Mastrant ropes, it is UV stable and resistant to all weather conditions. It has low weight, great abrasion resistance, great durability and is nonconductive (no effect whatsoever on your antenna). Moreover, in contrast to ropes made from aramid fibers (Kevlar, Vectran, Technora, Twaron), it has knot strength about 60 %. Mastrant-P and Mastrant-R Ropes are stronger than other synthetic ropes of the same size, made from proven modern polyester. Mastrant-Q is a new rope made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene, designed specifically for guying applications. It offers an excellent performance-to-price ratio and has a knot strength of approximately 60%. It replaces Mastrant-P in diameters of 6 mm (1/4 in.) and larger. Mastrant-S is a similar polyester/polypropylene rope, distinguished by its highly reflective strands for increased visibility. Mastrant-M is their highest strength rope with the Dyneema® DM20 core, a superior synthetic rope offering high performance at an affordable price. Very high strength, negligible elongation, very low weight, and great abrasion resistance are all attributes that make Mastrant-M the best rope for guying. Larger, stronger sizes of Mastrant-M are used in Europe and other parts of the world for tower guying. Durability and safety are of prime concern to ensure that an antenna installation remains fully operational for a long time. Antennas and guy lines are exposed to changing weather conditions, mechanical strain, UV radiation, humidity, and more. These non-conductive synthetic fibers have all the necessary qualities: high strength, negligible stretch but good flexibility, long life, low moisture collection, fast drying, a minimum bending radius adding the ability to tie knots, good UV radiation resistance, weather durability and resistance to acids and alkali. Conversely, steel guying wires are heavy, difficult to work with, and their strength deteriorates with time due to corrosion and general aging. Electrical conductivity of steel guys is an undesirable feature, as they interact with the antennas and adversely modify radiation patterns. Thanks to recent developments in synthetic materials, both amateur and professional users are changing over to non-conductive guys and ropes. Mastrant offers these products for a variety of applications, from thin support lines used for wire antennas and beams, to rope guys for supporting small and portable masts and vertical antennas. When you need quality rope to install, replace, or modify your antenna systems, consider Mastrant Antenna Support and Guy Line Ropes, now available from DX Engineering.
