EAntenna HEX6B Six Band Hexbeam is a directional HF antenna for the six Amateur bands 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 and 6 meters. This design follows the ideas of G3TXQ Steve Hunt, the originator of the Broadband version of the Hex Beam antenna. However, this mechanical construction is a version refined by EAntenna with their long-standing antenna engineering experience. The result is an efficient, lightweight portable antenna for the high HF DX bands, which is ideal for use for DXpeditions and vacations. An installation at 20 ft. above the ground can work quite well, but a tower-mounted Hexbeam at a height of 35 to 60 ft. is known to perform as intended and produce excellent DX results. The HEX6B works as two element beam on each band. Ready-to-use wires and ropes are attached to the fiberglass struts and due to the mechanical tension of the struts, the beam is stretched to its fixed size all the time, so there is no sag on the wires. The radiator dipoles are connected to the vertical center support, with each band wire element attaching with screw clamps. The center support is designed as a coaxial transformer and balun, providing a particularly good match on each band, with one feedline for all six bands. The HEX6B forward gain is approximately 3dBD or better, the front/back ratio is between 13 and 22dB. SWR is 1.5:1 or better on all bands except 10m, where SWR is 2:1 or better. Each band can be used in full bandwidth without a tuner. The maximum allowed power is 5 kW. The fiberglass tubes are double coated against UV radiation. The setup of the HEX6B six band beam is simple and can be done by one person in about 30 minutes. All ropes and wires are ready, cut to length, so no tuning is required. Due to the low weight of only 18.7 lbs. (8.2 kg) this hex beam can be installed on a light aluminum push-up mast. Rotation is either done with a small rotator or by hand. The HEX6B mast clamp accommodates poles with a Diameter from 1.10 -2.05 in. (28-52mm).

DX Engineering Balun Wiring Kits are just the right parts for permanently connecting a DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 20 Balun or a legacy Comtek balun to practically any beam, Yagi, Log Periodic or rotatable dipole with stud terminals on its driven element. This wiring kit is not a bracket. This is 8 AWG tinned solid copper wire, 2 ft., and an assortment of tinned solder ring terminals to electrically connect a #10 or 1/4 inch terminal stud balun to either size two stud balanced feedpoint on antennas of several types. Wire a balun to an antenna feedpoint with the DX Engineering Balun Wiring Kits. DX Engineering Balun Wiring Kits include: - Two feet, 8-Gauge Tinned Solid-Copper Bus Wire - Four each, Ring terminal, solder, for #10 stud - Four each, Ring terminal, solder, for 1/4 in. stud - Two each, Star washers, 1/4 in. - Two each, Nyloc hex nuts. 1/4 in. for 1/4-20 balun studs Instructions for installation: 1. Determine the separated routing of the minimal wire length needed for each balun terminal to antenna terminal connection with drip loops (see 2.), no greater than 12 inches each, from the securely mounted balun to antenna feedpoint. Attach the other end with hardware supplied with the antenna Use an open end wrench on the balun stud mount nut when tightening Nyloc nuts, and then the wing nuts, to prevent stud rotation and possible internal damage to the balun. NOTE: This 8 AWG tinned copper wire fits into the supplied ring terminals even though both the #10 and the 1/4 in. ring terminal terminals are marked 12-10 (AWG). Soldering these ring terminals onto this wire is required for a permanent connection. Only crimping will produce an insufficient connection. DX Engineering Mast Top Mounting Plate

DX Engineering Mast Top Mounting Plate DXE-MTMP is a multi-purpose 16 x 5.1 inch (406.4 x 129.5mm) aluminum plate, 0.25 inch (6.35mm) thick, with a long edge flange bend 1.5 inch (38mm) deep for reinforcement. It is drilled for specific DX Engineering Stainless Steel V-Bolt Saddle Clamps and U-Bolt Saddle Clamps. A total of four clamps are required, which are sold separately for flexibility. This versatile, rugged plate and the optional clamps combine to add a strong extension mast above and in line with the original larger mast. This plate makes it easy to add a mast top antenna, electronic device or a strut tube for a boom support truss above a directional antenna. The DXE-MTMP mounts a smaller, short piece of tubing with a 1.000 to 1.500 inch (25.4 to 38.1mm) OD (outside diameter) above a larger mast or mounting tubing or pipe of either 1.00 to 2.00 inch (25.4 to 50.8mm) OR 2.375 to 3.000 inch (60.3 to 76.2mm) OD. This is the mounting plate now supplied with the DX Engineering XB-5 Hex Beam HF Antenna, DXE-XB-5-MMK. The DXE-MTMP can be used to remount an existing Hex Beam, and it is sold here separately for alternative clamp choices. As shown in the images, the DXE-MTMP reinforced plate has two pairs of upper holes with 6 in. (152.4mm) vertical spacing to use either of these DX Engineering Saddle Clamps: Two DXE-SSVC-150P for an upper steel mast mounting a range of 1.00 to 1.50 in. (25.4 to 38.1mm) OD, OR Two DXE-SAD-150A for aluminum or steel tubing that is exactly 1.500 in. (38.1mm) OD. Two lower pairs of holes also have 6 in. (152.4mm) vertical spacing. Use either of these V-Bolt Saddle Clamps: Two DXE-SSVC-2P for a 1.00 to 2.00 in. (25.4 to 50.8mm) OD steel mast, OR Two DXE-CAVS-2P for 1.00 to 2.00 in. (25.4 to 50.8mm) OD aluminum mast, OR Two DXE-SSVC-3P for a 2.375 to 3.000 in. (60.3 to 76.2mm) OD steel mast. Each mast requires about 8 in. (~200mm) of clamping length. Internal reinforcement of aluminum tubing or double wall thickness is encouraged. NOTICE: A total of FOUR DX Engineering Saddle Clamps are required, two for each steel or aluminum mast tubing or pipe. Other brand general hardware u-bolts will not fit this plate. Holes are drilled for the specified DX Engineering Saddle Clamps only. The user is responsible for appropriate and safe mechanical installation.
