DX Engineering Band Link Kits

DX Engineering Band Link Kits (DXE-LINK-KIT) are insulators and wire clips, used to "add a band" to a portable wire antenna. These are the same band link parts as supplied with the DX Engineering Low Power Portable Dipole and Winder Kits. Band Links make manual band changes 'quick and easy' on portable 'low-to-the ground' resonant portable dipoles deployed as center-fed single support inverted-vee antennas, and on resonant end-fed antennas. Band Links are sold as a pair for a dipole. Alligator clips on the corresponding pair of Band Links are disconnected to change the dipole to the next higher band and are connected to change the resonance to the lower band. Only one link changes the band on a resonant end-fed wire. Band Links can be used to change the resonant (low SWR) frequency of a dipole or end-fed from CW to digital, and another to phone, and so on. Each DXE-LINK –KIT contains: • 2 Link Insulators – which support the wire and may be used to "break up" the wire antenna into multiband sections. • 4 Alligator Clips - two per Band Link. Two Band Links, one for each wire antenna leg, are included with the DX Engineering Low Power Portable Dipole and Winder Kit to make it a two-band antenna. Adding this second pair would make the dipole a three-band antenna, and a third pair will make the dipole a four-band resonant antenna, and so on.

Par EndFedz® Antennas

Par EndFedz® Antennas are End Fed Half Wave (EFHW) antennas with the match box coax connection at the end of the wire, for convenient and quick stealth portable operations. These single-band and multi-band antennas can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or as a sloper. No ground plane or counterpoise is needed so portable operation could not be easier. Simply hang the far end from a tree limb or send the wire out a hotel room window or balcony. You can use a telescoping fiberglass mast to get the antenna really high in the air and the supplied end insulators the installation easy. Stealth operation in CC&R and HOA antenna restricted locations is simplified. Their all-black construction makes them difficult to see. Each Par EndFedz® features a UV-resistant black ABS plastic housing with a support rope attachment hole that encloses a matching network to allow the antenna to be fed with standard 50 ohm coaxial cable with a PL-259 (UHF male). All hardware is stainless steel and the SO-239 (UHF female) connector is silver plated and has a PTFE dielectric. The antenna wires are either 18 or 26 AWG stranded Copperweld® with 200 pound breaking strength and a tough, 100% UV stable black polyethylene jacket. One end of the antenna wire has a #10 solder lug making attachment to the matching network feedpoint simple and easily replaceable, if necessary. Standard single and multi-band versions handle 100 or 200 watts and higher power versions handle 300 watts. Lightweight QRP PolyStealth models handle 25 watts and are ideal for portable operation because they are lightweight; the MKII model weighs only 8 ounces and the Trail Friendly model weighs only 3.5 oz. Par EndFedz® Antennas require no counterpoise or extra conductors. The EF-ALLBAND-KW model, about 133 ft. in length, covers eight bands, 80 through 10 meters. The ALLBANDKWJR is 74 ft. in length and operates on five bands, 80-10 meters. The 64 ft. EF-40-10-KW operates on four bands. All three models handle up to 1000 watts SSB/CW and 250 watts AM/Digital Modes. The need for an external tuner may vary based on the antenna model selected and the desired operating band. The manufacturer refers to these antennas as "End-Fed Dipoles" based upon the assertion that a "half-wave radiator is a dipole." This is a variant of the classic definition of a dipole which is a center-fed antenna with two radiating legs running in opposite directions from the feed point. Additional claims about the EFHW state that end feeding a half-wave "can energize the radiator 'nearly' as well as a center-fed." Recent anecdotal measurements indicate that the EFHW radiates about 70% as well as a traditional center-fed dipole. More information is available at each Par EndFedz® model listed below. DX Engineering NOISELOOP Portable Receive Flag Antenna Kit

DX Engineering NOISELOOP Portable Receive Flag Antenna Kit is based on the design by Don Kirk, WD8DSB. Don's article on this antenna is published in the March 2021 issue of QST Magazine (used by permission). The DXE-NOISELOOP is a kit of parts to build this receive-only portable directional HF loop antenna, which measures only 48 by 24 inches plus 36 inches of mast-handle. It may be used while walking or stationary with your portable HF receiver. Oriented vertically, this loop antenna features a cardioid pattern at the horizon with a deep null of up to 30 dB rejection. It is an excellent tool for locating noise sources from 1.8 through 30 MHz and for low-noise, general coverage reception from the AM broadcast band through 30 MHz. An optional Preamplifier-Attenuator Unit, DXE-NL-PRE-ATT-1, may be attached to the loop mast handle for enhanced operations. An IC-705, a portable SW or a handheld HF receiver are excellent choices for searching for local noise sources with the NOISELOOP, around the neighborhood and even around your own home. This Portable Flag Antenna Kit includes everything needed to make the antenna: fiberglass tubing for the frame and handle, mounting plate, separate PC boards for the bifilar wound transformer and load resistor, antenna wire, coaxial cable with male BNC and stainless steel hardware. Simple hand tools and a solder iron are required for assembly. Included instructions detail assembly. This kit will typically take between 1 and 2 hours to build. The WD8DSB Portable Flag Antenna design has become a real game changer in direction finding of RFI on MF and HF frequencies, and you will also find it an invaluable tool when hunting RFI due to the following key features. *Unidirectional (unlike a tuned loop) *Broadband (unlike a tuned loop, excellent for AM DXing, SWL and Amateur) *Portable (easy to walk with while directional noise finding or HF Fox Hunting) Traditionally Flag antennas are large and designed for stationary use, but the idea for this antenna was to design a Portable Flag. It was designed to be the largest possible (to maximize gain) that would fit inside a car and it's still small enough to maintain a cardioid pattern up through 30 MHz. The portable Flag has an approximate dimension of 2 feet tall by 4 feet long which you (or a helper) can easily walk with while tracking down a signal. Unlike a tuned loop, the Portable Flag is a broadband antenna with unidirectional properties, and it's designed for direction finding from 1.8 to 30 MHz as long as an appropriate preamp is used. It's even useful for direction finding down in the AM broadcast band. The rear of the antenna produces a sharp null when pointed at the signal of interest and the sharp null is often used for direction finding versus using the broad peak which occurs when the front of the antenna is pointed at the signal of interest. Learn more about how to build this antenna kit by clicking on More Detail and the Documentation link for the Instruction Manual. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Matching Network

The DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Matching Network, DXE-VMN-1, is a custom-designed impedance matching coil that is used at the feedpoint of a low band HF quarter-wave vertical or a Hustler 4-BTV, 5-BTV or 6-BTV multi-band vertical antenna. In most ground-mounted 160, 80, 60 or 40 meter mono-band vertical antenna installations with very good radial systems and high efficiency, feedpoint impedance at resonance is naturally well below 50 ohms, typically between 25 and 40 ohms. Achieving the best SWR match to a 50 ohm coaxial cable feedline on these resonant vertical antennas usually requires this type of coil for adjusting feed point impedance. When mounted with the included L-bracket, the DXE-VMN-1 is just under 7 in. tall. It works as an impedance matching coil, also known as a shunt coil, because it is installed in parallel with the feedline, from the antenna to ground. Plus, it connects the antenna to DC ground to bleed off, or shunt, any static electric charge on the antenna to ground. Yet, it works perfectly as an impedance transformer at HF, just like a hair pin or beta match on a Yagi, easily handling legal limit RF power. The DXE-VMN-1 can aid in matching the low-impedance feedpoint of a multi-band antenna to a reasonable SWR in the user-selected portions of 80 or 40 meter bands without affecting the operation on the other, higher frequency bands. The DXE-VMN-1 has a special coil tap clip to make the inductance adjustment needed for the correct match. NOTE: This matching network is not for use on 43 ft. non-resonant multi-band verticals. It cannot be used as a series coil to "load" a vertical to a lower frequency operation, especially with high power. Matching network shunt coils, loading coils and baluns cannot be used on verticals used in a phased array. Most phased vertical array systems cannot work with matched 50-ohm feedpoints, but rather require 35-ohm, natural impedance feedpoints. Therefore, use the DXE-VMN-1 only on single vertical installations. DX Engineering Vertical Antenna Matching Network features include: * Precision-machined coil tube * Highest quality 12-gauge tin coated solid copper coil wire for high power handling, corrosion resistance, ease of soldering, and long-term reliability * Custom-made silver plated DX Engineering Coil Tap Clip (extras available separately as DXE-CLIP-P) * Custom L bracket for mounting to the optional DX Engineering Radial Plate, DXE-RADP-3 * #14 AWG stranded copper wire with ring terminals for connection to the antenna (adapt or remove as needed for other antennas) * Stainless steel mounting hardware When installed properly as an impedance matching coil, the DXE-VMN-1 easily handles the legal limit Amateur Radio power level of 1500 watts, 1.8 through 30 MHz. DXE VMN-1 maximum inductance by frequency: 300 kHz - 7 MHz: 5.6uH Up to 14 MHz: 7.2uH Up to 21 MHz: 8.5uH Up to 28 MHz: 8.0uH Note: Whenever the DX Engineering "Documentation" is available, please look at the associated files for additional product information.

For a wire antenna, built with a DX Engineering Balun at the feed-point, the coax feedline may be secured with the optional DX Engineering Coax Strain Relief which features an aluminum bracket, neoprene-cushioned P-clamps, and stainless steel hardware. This method supports the feedline without subjecting the balun connector to the strain of the coaxial cable's weight or movement. DX Engineering EZ-BUILD® UWA Center-T and End Insulator Kits let you create any type of wire antennas, including single-band, multi-band, multi-frequency, folded dipole, doublet and inverted-V, off-center fed, Windom, Zepp, long wires, rhombic, V-beam, or loop antennas. EZ-BUILD® UWA Center-T may be used as a strain relief for our 300-ohm ladder line at the ground end or house end of the run, or as the strain relief on the feed end of a vertical wire or long wire antenna. Since soldering is not necessary when building an antenna with this kit, it is perfect for Field Day use, portable operations, or even for the weekend experimenter. However, it is certainly the best choice for your permanent wire antenna system. This UWA-KIT is for building a wire antenna with any DX Engineering Balun or 300 Ohm Ladder Line. Use the EZ-BUILD® UWA213-KIT for the construction of an RG-213 or RG-8U coax fed wire antenna without a balun, that will be operated at high power and high duty cycle modes of operation, such as AM, RTTY, or FM. The UWA8X-KIT will handle low and medium power levels and tolerate low SWR levels. DX Engineering EZ-BUILD® UWA Center-T and End Insulator Kits include: -- One center-T insulator featuring an exclusive no-loop, no-solder wire, multiple wire, or 300 ohm ladder line serpentine grip design, which allow for the rapid field adjustment of wire lengths; the center-T includes a centered top hole for attaching support ropes -- Two end insulators featuring the no-loop, no-solder, serpentine grip design -- Two stainless steel wire connection bolts, nuts, and washers. -- Six crimp ring terminals for antenna and ladder line wire connections -- Additional stainless steel hardware for mounting DX Engineering baluns DX Engineering baluns, antenna wire, 300 ohm ladder line, and support rope are sold separately. Only your imagination is the limit to the practical applications for which this useful insulator system may be used. It is made from a very strong UV resistant poly-resin plastic that can handle the weight of huge wire antennas, and a DX Engineering balun as well as the attached coaxial cables. DX Engineering 12 Meter Add-On Kits for Hustler 4BTV, 5BTV and 6BTV

DX Engineering 12 Meter Add-On Kits for Hustler 4BTV, 5BTV or 6BTV HF vertical antennas add 12 meter coverage without giving up existing band coverage. This updated kit adds operation across the entire 12 meter band, 24.890 through 24.990 MHz, with a nominal SWR of 1.5:1 or less. Simply install the kit, check the tuning and make minimal tuning adjustments and you're on the air with an additional band! A complete illustrated installation manual is provided with each kit. This DXE-AOKC-12M can handle full legal limit SSB PEP power (of course, use less power on digital modes). Both DX Engineering Hustler BTV Add-On Kits can work together, as they do not interact with each other nor does their presence drastically affect other bands. The DXE-AOKC-12M 12 Meter Add-On Kit and the DXE-AOKC-17M 17 Meter Add-On Kit match each other, except for the coil on the 17M, and they add negligible wind loading to the antenna. Both Add-On Kits, 12M and 17M, can mount on opposite sides of the Hustler BTV vertical, and may be installed at the same time or at different times. TIP: The use of the DXE-OMNI-TILT Tilt Base is recommended for BTV ground mounting when both DXE-AOKC-12M and DXE-AOKC-17M kits will be installed. For those roof mounted Hustler BTV, or those in an elevated position, two or more resonant radials should be added; about (9 ft., 5 in. each) for 12 meter. For ground mounted installations, no change in the radial system should be necessary. Materials supplied with these kits include: * Pre-assembled 12 Meter element wire with soldered ring terminals * Four Stainless Steel Band Clamps with Threaded Studs * Upper Insulated Bracket * Two 14 in. long Tuning Rods * Bottom Aluminum Stand-off Bracket * Spring-loaded End Insulator for the 12 Meter element wire lets the antenna move naturally * Scotch-Brite® Pad for cleaning the antenna tubing * Stainless Steel Hardware The RF power handling of the DXE-AOKC-12M 12 Meter Add-On Kit is conservatively rated for 1,500 watts PEP SSB; 1,000 watts CW and 375 watts RTTY and Digital modes including FT8, at antenna SWR of 2:1 and below. This rating is for 12 meters only; it does not apply to BTV antenna trap or resonator frequencies where the use of less power is advised. NOTE: Additional information appears on the product detail page and in files linked under "Documentation" Join the fun on the 12 meter band and be ready for the next band opening! Add the DX Engineering 12 Meter BTV Add-On Kit to your Hustler HF vertical antenna!

DX Engineering Off Center Fed High Power Dipole Kits

DX Engineering Off Center Fed (OCF) dipole wire antenna kits use two different lengths of antenna wire (dipole legs) to achieve operation on the HF bands. A slightly elevated SWR is the trade-off for a single wire antenna that covers multiple bands efficiently. On most bands, the internal tuner in modern transceivers will match the antenna feedline when the SWR is 3:1 or less. On frequencies where the SWR is above 3:1 SWR, an ATU external to the rig may be needed. DX Engineering Off Center Fed Dipoles are designed to be rugged yet lightweight, and handles 1,500 watts SSB and CW. These kits include two lengths of premium 14 gauge relaxed PVC antenna wire, each with a ring terminal soldered on one end; one DXE-MC20-C4-1 DX Engineering Maxi-Core® 4:1 Dual Core Balun (with SO-239); the DXE-WA-BMB Dipole Center Insulator Mounting Bracket for Maxi-Core® Balun including End Insulators; and Stainless Steel hardware. Add supports, coax and rope to your order for a complete multi-band antenna installation.

REZ Antenna Systems Universal [Z]QD Radial Puck Upgrade

REZ Antenna Systems Universal [Z]QD Radial Puck Upgrade lets you upgrade your Wolf River Coil tripod or other mount. The puck is designed to work with the existing components on a Wolf River Coil tripod as well as any other SO-239 to 3/8-24 adapter type mount. Refer to the technical drawing image to ensure the insulating washer supplied in their mount will fit in the machined pocket of this Radial Puck Upgrade. By adding the puck to your tripod you can do away with ring terminals and instead use up to (8) 4mm banana plugs. You can even solder in multiple radials to each banana plug to make radial bundles. This allows you to expand your radial field while making setup a breeze. Make your own radial kit or purchase a pre-built [Z]QD Radial Kit. NOTE: This item is the REZ-ZQD-RP-U Radial Puck Upgrade only. The pictured tripod, radials and the 3/8-24 to SO-239 adapter with insulating washer are NOT included. To install, start by unscrewing the 3/8-24 coupling nut from your SO-239 adapter. Then remove the insulating washer from the tripod. Now insert the insulating washer into the puck and place the puck on top of the tripod hub. Now reassemble the SO-239 connector making sure the lock washer does not come in contact with the puck. It's important that the washer ONLY makes contact with the plastic insulator or you will create a short in your system.

Unified Microsystems RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch

Unified Microsystems RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch is an outdoor capable remote relay unit that allows the operator to select up to four antennas. Receive only antennas are critical for success on the low bands. Due to the wavelengths of the low bands, these antennas cannot be rotated. Several very effective receive only antennas are mono-directional or bi-directional, including Beverage, Reversible Beverage, Beverage on the Ground (BOG), Reversible Beverage on the Ground (RBOG) and many others,. Therefore, a high quality, low noise four port receive antenna switch is required to cover all of the directions with multiple antennas. Common mode noise pick up can ruin the performance of receive antenna systems, so the RAS-4 isolates both the center conductor and shield of unselected ports. An internal bifilar ferrite choke further reduces common mode currents. This unit features female F connectors for RG6U coax with male F connectors, the standard field-serviceable coaxial cable assemblies for receive antenna systems. A very important requirement for dual feedline Reversible Beverage and RBOG antennas is provided by the RAS-4. By default, unselected ports are terminated for 75 ohms. The user can change to 50 ohm, open circuit, or center conductor-shield short by soldering wire jumpers. The RAS-4 is housed in a NEMA rated enclosure with a gasket lid. A cable gland seals the control cable entry. The internal circuit board has a conformal coating for additional protection. The RAS-4 can be mounted outdoors, with the enclosure flanges or with the included L bracket for mounting to a pole or post. The RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch is a receive-only relay unit that cannot be used for transmitting antennas. The required in-shack control console switch is not included. The RAS-4 will work with a commercial or a simple home brewed, positive 12V One-of-Four switch. Choose from DX Engineering, EA4TX and others for manual or automated switching. Unified Microsystems RAS-4 Receive Antenna Switch Specifications Antenna Selection: 4 receive antennas to 1 main feedline Dimensions: Approx. 4.5 x 3.5 x 3.25 in.
